They were recommended to me by my vet and it's the best tip I've ever had about dog care. When I first took Saffie in for a haircut, the owner was as careful with her as if she was her own. First, she let her just hang out with some other dogs that where there in the salon, so she could get used to the place before being handled. Next, the owner sat Saffie on her lap as she ate her lunch. After that, Saffie was ready to be groomed and she was pretty much wagging her tail the whole time, she loved the attention. The haircut she got was perfect - especially around the face, where she can sometimes come out looking a but too "snouty" - she looked like herself only tidier. You can check out some of the show dogs that Three Poodles have groomed on their website to get an idea of their work too. Last but perhaps most important, the staff working at Three Poodles are all amazing, not just the owner. They are so caring and gentle with the dogs, I wouldn't hesitate to leave Saffie with any of them.

Initially I called Pet Stop, unfortunately they did not have raw pet food, only the freeze dried treats. The sales clerk did suggest I call Amimates, as they are a larger shop and would have more variety. Once I called I spoke with a young man who was very friendly, knowledgeable about their products and patient with my questions. He provided a few options of raw food and dry food then gave me the store hours. Seeing as I had just picked up my dog from quarantine, I needed to get food for him. This shop is the equivalent to a smaller version of Petco in the States. It has all the major food brands (of New Zealand), along with flea treatments, toys, beds and other pet essentials. The staff is very friendly and helpful and of course they loved Titus. Although I prefer smaller Mom & Pop shops, this one will do for now.

There are in store specials, buy 2 get 1 free sort of thing and other discounts and offers that you would not get from a smaller pet store. This place is usually mega busy, especially on the weekends. Three cool things about this pet store, 1) you can take your pet inside on a lead so they can come shopping with you 2) they have a store cat that hangs out in the fish and aquarium section and 3) the staff give out treats to your dog. A great shopping experience for both animal and owner.

I had previously this morning walked away from another nearby vet clinic…read morehaving made an 8.20am appointment online stating it was for a vaccine booster for my kitten, showing up at 7.50am, waiting for the clinic to open (it did at 8.10am despite in the booking system displaying appointments from 8am) to be informed the vet would be late...a 40 min wait and the nurse who was at the clinic wasn't able to conduct the procedure so I would have to wait. Stuff that. I don't drive (part blind), had caught the bus. On the return bus ride home, drove past this place so got off the bus, walked in without an appointment, explained what happened and these guys looked after me from the get-go. Vaccinated my kitten, asked all the right questions re: eating and toilet habits, gave great care advice and were highly professional. Unbelieveable. Guaranteed return customer here. Won't name-drop the other vet but will leave feedback on this forum for them.

Titus and I walked in to a teeny little space filled with ice cream freezers in all corners. Each freezer is filled with either bone, or ground meats such as lamb, turkey, duck and tripe. Have a cat that enjoys fish? Look no further than the ice cream freezer filled with whole mackerel and salmon. Yum! I had salmon for dinner last night too. Do not hesitate to ask questions about their food. Koodo's to Alicia for being fully equipped with knowledge on mixing foods, keeping away from bad treats and the overall health of your dog while following a raw diet. In need of a vet? Well guess what, they have one on site every other day who is fully capable of addressing all the basic needs for your pet i.e. vaccinations, treatments and the like. I spent $35.00 and walked away with what appears to be a months supply of food! Fairly certain we have found our local pet food store.

They easily have the largest range of raw meat and bones for pets that i've come across plus they really knowledgable about what you should be feeding your dog in order to make sure it's still getting a balanced diet if you decided to go down the "raw" route. I went in knowing what products I wanted to buy, the store person was friendly and helpful, pointed me in the right direction and offered help with the product. There seemed to be a huge range of products available and the store is much bigger inside than it appears from the street. I didn't look at any animals except some fish that were having their tank cleaned when I arrived. I was happy with the service and would go back again, though I'm concerned at reports online of their maltreatment of animals they "stock" for sale so if you are in the market for a pet, be mindful of that. Definitely consider adopting from the SPCA :)

Rare and exotic birds, lorikeets, finches, bantams - the Bird Barn stocks them all. Upon entering the Barn you are confronted with a giant pink cockatoo and a few cages down is Snowy, a talking cockatoo that will happily greet you before asking you about your day. He actually gave me a huge fright the first time I went there - I couldn't figure out who was talking to me! The rainbow lorikeets are my favourite, and with an entire cage of these beautiful birds located outside, The Bird Barn is somewhere I admit I go when I'm having an average day. It puts a smile on my face. Though first and foremost a place to purchase birds, today the Bird Barn also incorporates a pet store - something that further delights me, especially when I'm feeling down. Puppies, kittens, fish, guinea pigs, rabbits and an entire barn of birds - how can anyone leave this place without a smile on their face?! Next time you're on Lincoln Road, stop and take a minute to be wowed and impressed by all the cute animals. Don't worry about buying anything - staff are used to people window shopping! Dr. Chris is the sole vet and he tends to all the animals. I really like this about the Normanby vets because it's always the same person looking after your pet. We have returned here with our cat ever since the free neutering day and we have always been really happy with the care our cat receives and the prices. This vet doesn't seem focused on profit like some others I have been to in the past. Their website is also really thoughtful offering tips and advice on how to care for your pets from fireworks to ageing to weight control it just shows they are always looking to help.

Recently I made my first trip into Pet Shop Boyz through a spontaneous discovery wandering around…read morethe area, it was a handy discovery as I wanted to buy some good quality cat food. I bought a 1Kg bag of HIll's Science Diet cat pellets for $21.00, not too bad a price. This shop had a good range of pet toys, grooming gear and a selection of pet food available. As I was heading out the door I noticed they had animals for sale, so I went and said hello to a bunch of sleeping kittens, one puppy and some beautiful birds and rabbits. The rabbits were particularly adorable, but it was a shame the cages were quite cramped for such big creatures. The staff were really friendly and attentive too.
