I'm particularly unadventurous when it comes to bakery food so often opted for their Cornish pasty. The women who work her were very friendly with the students and were always up for a laugh and a joke, this gave the shop a really nice and friendly atmosphere. They also do a nice cup of coffee to take out, which was a godsend in the mornings on the way into college when you hadn't yet awoke enough to make eye contact or speak to anyone! It represents true value for money and is much better than the university canteen and Subway. There are a number of sandwich fillings you can have and all sandwiches are made to order. It's only down the road from Hanley Park so if it's a nice day, venture there to enjoy a lunchtime snack.

I ordered a burger (freshly cooked in a couple of minutes) with raw onions and mayonnaise for just £2 which was served in a large plain white bun; that definitely filled me and I would go back again whenever I'm in need of a convenient lunch. Since they boast such a wide variety of ingredients such as various pre-cooked meats, sliced salads and other condiments, the choice is really yours. In addition, they sell jacket potatoes which sound mouth-watering and tempting (especially on a cold day)! Clarke's Richmond Deli is much better than your average sandwich bar. The atmosphere is friendly and almost seems to be community orientated which is a rare thing in this day and age but one which should occur far more often than it does. The sandwiches here are great also, they always taste freshly made and have a real fullness about their flavour and that marks this place put as a truly impressive sandwich store. This place is pleasant to be in and just to visit in general meaning that the customer is always left with a full belly and a smile on their face.
