They noticed the "dogs welcome" sign and as they were already walking inside hollered, "Come on, Mom, let's go inside!" The young lady, Jaylynn, working was incredibly nice and knowledgeable. She immediately started spoiling our dog with a treat and even filled up the large dog saucer by the entry with cool water for her. Maggie, our dog, said thank you again! There were cute bamboo-made socks ($10 per pair) with tons of patterns. My youngest loved them. Shirts on sale. Magnets and stickers with decent prices. A "tired Mama" freshie (air freshener $13.99) was what my youngest said I needed to buy for our Jeep. What a cheeky little brat. Lol. I ended up buying it. Lol. Both of my girls bought items with their own money and I was surprised it was all good stuff. I'm a fan.

Thankfully, we did find a few souvenirs that the other store we shopped at didn't have! Lucky for us, the gifts were also decently priced! I definitely liked this store better than the other souvenir store we shopped at. It seemed a little nicer and the employees were friendlier.

So interesting to hear from Bill about not only about the history of this and other bathhouses, but also how the thermal springs water is collected, what caused the decline in the 70s and 80s and the measures in place designed to prevent the spread of illnesses, like frequent testing of the water for viruses and bacteria. Very interesting to hear about the fears and impact of the AIDS epidemic in the 80s on Hot Springs as a contrast to the current pandemic. The current Lamar Bathhouse is a stone, brick and stucco Spanish style structure. It replaced an earlier Victorian building that honored US Supreme Court Justice Lamar. The bathhouse was unique in that it offered 5 different tub lengths to accomodate a variety of heights. Several of the original tubs are on display (or can be used for a photo op). Murals and stencils were added in the 20s to elicit a more European flavor. Today, Lamar Bathhouse functions as an admininstative building and has the park store, Bathhouse Row Emporium. Ask for Roxana for fun gift ideas. Make sure to stamp your Park Passport here and at Fordyce Bathhouse if you collect stamps. They are different at each site.

Lol. A particular Jeep shirt ($19.99) caught my eyes. My youngest said, "That is so you," but we couldn't find it on the shelf. I approached what I soon realized was a doppelganger of an employee who was working on the floor. I caught myself before I asked him anything! Then the clerk and I had a good laugh when we both mentioned said doppelganger. Soon the non-doppelganger employee found us laughing and he joined in on it, then showed me where I could get my new shirt. This shop does not have a public restroom. Yes, "Zoltar" is here. Shot glasses. Jewelry. Keychains. Hoodies. Shirts for all sizes - kids ($15 each) and adults. Tons of designs. Other souvenirs and a display for University of Arkansas and some pro sports. I didn't take hardly any photos because it was so crowded inside. I'm a fan.

The service can be a bit cold and underwhelming compared to the rest of Hot Springs, but that's okay. The cashier was still nice. Great place to buy bulk gifts for your loved ones who couldn't make the trip!

I had purchased salted Virginia peanuts while in Virginia a couple of months ago that were so good. They had virginia peanuts here but only honey roasted. So I gave them a try. My husband liked them but I didn't much care for them. Also bought stone ground grits from South Carolina that were excellent. And lastly I purchased Bequet caramels. By far the best caramels I have ever eaten. All items were pricy but fun purchases. Shop is clean, staff friendly and convenient to hang out while waiting for breakfast.
