On this #ThankYouThursday I want to give a special shout out to the team of Detailed Dental for opening back their businesses, and making sure everyone who comes through their doors stays healthy and leaves with a beautiful smile! Today, I had my biannual cleaning and examination and everything went great. Before my appointment, they called to make sure I was staying healthy and had no covid-19 symptoms. Everyone who walks through their doors must wear a face mask at all time. They have a few signs at the door with instructions on what to do. You can really tell they are being very cautious, which I highly appreciate. The doctor was amazing as always, and my screening and cleaning went great! This office was always efficient with kind staff who helped patients. I had an appointment for tomorrow morning for a six month check up and I was called at 5:15 this evening with the news that because I have an implant they might have to charge me more money. I am reasonably sure that the inability of the caller to adequately explain what she was talking about did not help my response, but since when does a health care professional call the evening before the appointment to say that you will be charged more $$? She could not answer any questions. She wanted to verify my insurance? She wanted to see if I kept my implant clean? I just canceled my appointment and added this facility to the long list of health care providers who skate very close to ethical boundaries and care nothing about their patients. This is my first time receiving any dental work in San Antonio, and I have to say that I was really impressed. Mrs. Garcia was very diligent with explaining everything she was doing, and she made sure to answer all of my questions in a helpful, understandable way. Don't be duped: the reviews for Detailed Dental PLLC are inflated and should not be trusted due to a very cunning Public Relations strategy. I will first outline their unethical rating inflation practice in the next paragraph. The subsequent paragraphs will detail my experience at this dental practice. After visiting Detailed Dental PLLC each time, a text message is sent to you to ask how did things go. If you click on the happy face, it took you to a link for you to leave 5-star reviews on FaceBook, Google, and Yelp. If you click on the frown face, it would take you to an internal review for themselves. (See my pics for proof) Despite my bad experience at Detailed Dental PLLC, I really like the administrative staff, such as Sophia, and my dental hygienist, Katherine: Sophia is always warm and welcoming, and extremely accommodating; Katherine is very sweet and calming, yet professional... in short, I felt very safe under her care and would go back just to have Katherine clean my teeth. However, I have given this dentistry office three tries and have determined that Detailed Dental PLLC have LOST my TRUST and FAITH. Strike One: I went in for a normal check-up. I had worn down one tooth and chipped another, so they advised that I fill-in both, promising food would not get stuck and decrease sensitivity. Dr. Patel did the initial dental work. Upon leaving, my mouth felt okay. The next day, after the lidocaine wore off, my mouth was in severe pain. Anytime I ate anything, I felt pain. I flossed and brushed but the pain persisted. I was in so much pain that I had to take pain killers to fall asleep. Strike Two: I went in for a follow-up. Dr. Del Rio examined Dr. Patel's work and determined that one of the fillings needed to be redone completely. He eventually redid the filling and I was only in pain occasionally. Again, on some days, despite brushing and flossing, I would still feel achy pain. About every other-other night, I needed to take pain killers to fall asleep. Also, during this appointment, they took impressions for a dental device. Strike Three: I go in at my scheduled appointment time of 10:30am. I wait and wait and wait. Almost half an hour later, Renita, the lead dental assistant, calls me in with an attitude and in a cold and sterile manner. Interestingly, during previous visits, the student technicians and my dental hygienist were super friendly and warm when they greeted me, not Renita. Upon sitting down in the examination chair, I asked if Dr. Del Rio was running behind and she says a little. As she checks to estimate Dr. Del Rio's lateness, she commented that I may have to wait longer because I was "early" to my appointment. She said my appointment was at 11:00am. I showed her a SMS indicating a 10:30am confirmation. Despite me calling her out with evidence, she ignored my evidence and was unapologetic. Perturbed because of her attitude, I got up to the front desk to ask Sophia for my appointment time, which she said was 11:00am. When Sophia went to the back to checkout the print out, it confirmed my original appointment time was 10:30am. I don't know what exactly happened but I think some unscrupulous shadiness happened. They probably ran behind schedule and adjusted my appointment time to accommodate their availability. Throughout all of this, not only was Renita unapologetic but also had an attitude. I understand--really understand--that providers can run behind and feel total sympathy for said situations. However, to claim that I was early despite showing Renita proof that they were late and them trying to cover it all up is unprofessional, unscrupulous, and unethical. Three strikes: Feeling that I could no longer trust this dental practice, I demanded a refund, which they complied, and left. Even though my teeth hurts, I do not trust them anymore. I rather go to another dentist to fix their shoddy dental work. P.S. I would have given two stars because I like the administrative staff and Katherine the dental hygienist; however, because of their unethical rating practice, I decided they only deserved one star. read more

I went in with several complaints they attempted to fix one side but I was left with a bigger hole in my tooth than I went in with so they were supposed to fax medication to my pharmacy and have a OS call me and nobody did so now I'm takin walking around with an open root canal and bruised gums, when I tried to call I couldn't get anyone after that visit my face got swollen to the point I couldn't swallow and had difficulty breathing and went to ER and had to stay overnight until swelling went down and breathing was at 100 it's been almost a week now and nobody returned my calls or messages left regarding this issue I basically paid for my dental problem to become worse and picked up an extra medical bill THANKS read more

Even though I hate going to the dentist, I don't mind going here because 1) it's close to my house and 2) it never takes long for a cleaning and 3) they're pretty punctual. If my appointment is for 8am, I'll be in the chair by 8:05. Dr. Potter is very thorough, which is reassuring for some. He's a good dentist, he doesn't suggest a lot of unnecessary things or try to sell me a toothbrush or mouth guard. It's quick and easy. That's about as much as I can hope for in a dentist. read more
