I was initially so apprehensive when planning my professional headshot session. The thought of spending hours getting my picture taken, and then having to look at the photos, most definitely did not fill with me joy. Until...my first phone call with Devi Pride! She put me at ease immediately, and from then on, I decided to look forward to my session. From a business perspective, she was organized, responsive, and knowledgeable. But even more importantly, when it came to the photo shoot itself, everything about her manner and the preparation instructions she provided made me feel comfortable and confident. Devi Pride is a stunningly talented photographer with a unique ability to make her subjects feel safe, comfortable, and confident. I worked with Devi in September 2022 on an aerial photoshoot in her studio. This was my first aerial photoshoot, and my first professional photography sessions since, I think, my high school senior photos. Needless to say, I was incredibly nervous. I have never been comfortable in front of cameras and don't think of myself as a particularly photogenic person. But as we started the photo session, something started to shift. With Devi's encouragement, I started to loosen up. And when I saw the first image previews on her camera, I almost cried. Not because I looked beautiful (although I don't ever think I've looked so glamorous in photos before!) but because I looked powerful, fierce, and strong. This is what Devi was able to bring out through her photography. After our session, Devi stayed in regular contact, following up with proofs and edited photos. Devi, we can't thank you enough for putting together the perfect tribute video of my Dad! While we were planning my Dad's 80th Birthday, we knew that we wanted to include a video so that we could share my Dad's life with his loved ones, especially his days playing minor league baseball. My Dad's video really captured his true essence and everyone loved it! More importantly, my Dad loved it! It was really special to watch him view it for the first time at his party. We gave you his scrapbooks, photos, songs, an audio recording of an interview with him and somehow you magically put them all together perfectly. We got exactly what we were hoping for and more! Devi is a gifted photographer and artist. She's full of energy and enthusiasm that is contagious, and easily drew out my inner light and sparkle. That is a huge talent in itself! On top of that, working with her was fun and easy. I am very self-conscious about how certain facial features show up on film, yet Devi was able to put me at ease and to find just the right angle to show me at my best. Our session was fun, playful, yet totally professional. Best of all, there was no pressure to get the perfect shot in just one try. Devi did the school pictures for my kids preschool (Calvary in Santa Cruz). I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Typically school pictures have that boring blue parchment background, with each kid seated in a standard pose and a forced cheesy grin. Instead, Devi took the kids outside where she could take advantage of the natural light and took photos that were more candid in style. She took the time to talk with and make each child comfortable - and the results are beautiful photos that let each child's personality shine through. Devi did our photos for our wedding in January and I must say the whole experience was beyond pleasant!
