This is for the Friend of the Devil Brochu pop up chicken shop occupying the Devil Dogs location. I had read about it in The Chicago Tribune and really wanted to try it. We drove down on Sunday, August the 23rd and arrived at 7:05 after driving 30 minutes. They are supposed to be open until 8 pm. It even says so on the sign on the door. Turns out they were closing early because, "No one was coming in." Well, here's a potential customer that will be part of those "not coming in". I had called earlier in the day to make sure we could order when we arrived; that we didn't need to order online. I was assured that was ok. At no time was it mentioned they might close early. There is nothing on any internet site saying they might close early. Bad, bad, bad. This joint venture with Devil Dogs is a chance for Chef Andrew Brochu to do business during COVID. He won't be winning over new customers with this policy. read more

This place has the best hotdogs I've ever had hands down. If you're in the neighborhood and look to eat you've gotta try their hotdogs. Service is quick and the people are friendly to boot. read more

It was cold outside; I ordered delivery. My order consisted of 1 Clucker Sandwich and a Bag "0" Rings with Awesome Sauce to compliment. The sandwich was spectacular: big and juicy, pretzel bun and--despite my lifelong hatred for Cole slaw (which is due to my day care teacher forcing me to eat it between dry heaves)--it was delicious. This sandwich deserves five stars, HOWEVER, notice the rating I gave: 4 stars. The missing star is due to the zero-rings (heads up, that's a zero on your menu when it should probably be an "O"--notice how the "O" has a slightly wider bust). The zero-rings, themselves, were adequate enough to maintain the 5-star rating that the sandwich deserves. We have a sauce problem. I was eager, even athirst, to taste a sauce named after its prestige. I looked in the bag twice, under the zero-rings, in the bag again--nowhere. Even if true, I cannot say the sauce was awesome; the sauce was absent. They should call it "Absent Sauce." I really wish I could have tasted that sauce, but life isn't fair--I learned that today, and you should too. read more

Yum! A fast food joint that is several cuts above the rest. I love the Clucker chicken sandwich with perfectly seasoned and battered fried chicken. Possibly the highlight of the extensive menu is that fact that there are so many combinations and choices. My husband is a fan of their fries and I hate waiting while he tries to decide which of the many variations to order that day. The staff is friendly, although it can get crowded at times. Above average decor and ambiance is welcoming. It's always a plus for me if the bathrooms are clean and they are at Devil Dawgs. I read that the owner is a trained chef and the food reflects that. With the counter service tip, it was fairly expensive for a hotdog, a sandwich, fries & onion rings. I had it to go. The rings are overpriced for the size-it was the smaller option. The fries are good. The Chicago dog was almost smothered with tomatoes which made it soggy. Clucker sandwich is huge-but it was smothered in their sauce which is like a spicy 1000 island, and I mean smothered! A few adjustments (including lowering the volume on the music) and lose the counter service charge and I would give it a better rating. read more

Great food! It looks like just another hot dog place from the outside. But it's not! I am all about the Clucker, it's a fried chicken sandwich with spicy slaw, the chicken is big,crunchy, and moist, the slaw is tangy - just yummy, and completely reasonably priced. I never order soft serve shakes because I am an ice cream snob, but then one day I tried the Ghirardelli dark chocolate shake, it is really, really good. So good that I get one almost every time I go. The place is clean, the staff is friendly, and the Clucker is addictive. read more

Devil Dawgs in Wicker Park is my favorite place to eat! The Wicker Park location is the Best! The management & staff is so friendly and welcoming! Especially Robert, Of your a first time visitor Robert will walk you through ordering. Don't be shy to try new things! No matter what your order from the menu it's filled with amazing flavor! It'll blow you away! The staff is always welcoming! No matter how busy the place is they are always on point with orders, smiling interacting with customers and greet everyone that walks in the door. I highly recommend the Devil Dawgs Wicker Park location! Besides the staff and food the place itself is so welcoming and the staff is alway I top of the place always being extremely clean. It's the cleanest restaurant I've ever been in! Me and my family drive all the way from Lake Zurich Area to eat here. It's a drive we look forward to making knowing we will be beyond satisfied, the food it above and beyond! You'll love it all! Make sure you ask for Robert when you go in! The Oreo milkshake is one of my favorites from the neighborhood! The single burger is perfect for kids or light eaters. The biggest reason I'm giving 5 stars is because the guy at the counter has always been beyond polite, patient, and friendly. This is especially great when you're trying to wait for kids to choose what they want to eat. Overall it's quickly becoming one of our go to spots for a quick meal! read more

Devil dogs was ok. The cashier was very sweet and nice--he recommended the best things on the menu (I wish I knew his name). We ordered the burger with the Mac and cheese and that was good. The fries are awesome! The hot dogs were not so great. I probably wouldn't eat there again. read more

Extremely disappointed but first let me say Devil Dawgs's has been a go-to for me in Wicker Park for a long time. Loved the sliders they served and the fries. In fact, you'd order fries and get more than you'd pay for and they were really good! Not anymore. Today I walked in with my family and a very kind gentleman taking orders had informed us that the menu just changed and boy did it. No more sliders and no more fries. How do you serve hot dogs and burgers with no fries?! How?! They replaced the sliders with smash burgers and I like smash burgers but mine was served with extra, extra, salt. The special sauce on my burger was good so I gotta give credit there. But who cares about sauce when the burger was basically salt in between hamburger buns? The hot dogs we ordered were good but cold. I'm still in awe that I spent $9+ tip for a burger with no side and no drink. I'm not sure why they made all these changes but it's very disappointing. I hope you don't make these changes to your other locations. read more

Decided on this place since it was within walking distance of where my friends and I were at. First time in Chicago so we have nothing to compare to. Spent ~$7 on the 10" Wisconsin brat and a drink. Friends had the Seoul dog and the Chicago dog. Service was fairly quick for how busy it was at 10 at night and the food was pretty good. Just not sure if I'd go out of my way to eat there again. read more

So really a 4.5! Here is the lowdown, provides a diverse menu to cater to a variety of food tastes as in flavors. I have brought multiple visitors here to have dinner and go here for lunch based on an intimate knowledge of the neighborhood spots and a need to have a good lunch that I don't regret. For instance if you pay attention you will notice that there are a wide variety of flavor combinations, providing a person a vast ability to tailor their experience. Moreover if you are smart you will get the Clucker, a fried chicken sandwich which is the among the best in the city if not the best. Yes I am including Chick-fil-a and those chicken/ trending restaurants for you Southerners. The chicken breast for this specific sandwich is correctly cooked and large and not either dry or gnarly and it includes a very good coleslaw that even I a cloeslaw hater like (which can be put on the side). The staff is friendly, the sides have generous portions, and they are efficient. I don't like the opt-out tip for a non-waitstaff restaurant since it implies that either the staff isn't being paid enough and expected to subsidize the restaurant by a non-standard pay practice that may get the business in trouble and short the workers, or much more likely they haven't configured their pay system properly and it's an oversight. (Thus the deduction). read more
