We had loads of fun on the ATVs and Jeff was an awesome tour guide! I would recommend them to anyone!

My boyfriend and I went yesterday morning for the first time and had a blast. Since it was our first time they were really helpful showing us how to use the quads. The prices were extremely reasonable and they were really friendly. It was only $250 to rent 2 Honda 250 ATVs for 4 hours. Since it was our first time that was perfect for us. This place was awesome!! The people here are so accommodating and helpful. They let us camp near their facility because we were being blown away by the winds and our anniversary campfire was becoming a disaster after chasing our tent through the desert and having dirt blown in our food. Behind the buildings there were hardly any winds and it saved our romantic evening together. The prices are totally reasonable and the stAff is crazy courteous. A co-worker and I went down to rent 2 buggies. The owners are very friendly and they set us up pretty quickly. They aren't big clock watchers either so if you are a little over on the time, you'll be ok. The cost is very reasonable, some rental places charge by the hour, charge for riding equipment by the hour, it can add up fast. Dezert adventures is flat rate,the best deal is to rent for a half day. The location is out near Plaster City off Interstate 8 tucked into a small desert town. There's a area across the street where you can practice riding before heading out into the desert. The area has many landmarks, but it can take a while to find interesting spots to have fun in if you are not familiar with the region. You can drive by the wind farm they are building about 250 generator fans to the north and west of Ocotillo. The security didn't bother us, just made sure we were passing through and talked a bit, those fans are huge. If you are not familiar with the area, I'd recommend the delivery option and have the company drop and pickup the equipment at the Imperial dunes or Ocotillo Wells SVRA, or even Superstition mountain. Keep in mind some of these locations range from a 0.5 to 1.5 hour drive from the rental garage. If you are an experienced desert rider, you can simply drive across the desert in these locations, but if you are doing the tourist thing I'd make it easy on yourself. We had a great time, now the reason why I didn't give this place 5 stars. The ATV's/Quads/Bike are fairly new and well maintained, that seems to be their most popular rental. The sand cars we rented [VW Chenowth and another VW based buggy] were in rougher shape, more raw and mad max. It didn't bother us, but I can see it being a problem for anyone who is not experienced. The vehicles performed fine, but the brakes weren't working 100% and some of the restraint harnesses were very worn. In fairness, it was summer when we went, which is slow season. Many people don't want to ride in the desert in 110-120F heat, I've seen several newer buggies there under maintenance, so I suspect they were prepping the other buggies for the busy fall season. I only have positive things to say...It was daring of us to think an hour drive wasnt a big deal to get there from Julian, but we figured out the hwy part of the way back, making it much easier. Kind customer service. You can tell they care and were patient with my 9 year old who tried for the first time, with cautious anxiety that slowed us down a bit...She bounced back after the break and got through it. So easy to spot right off hwy 8 between san diego and phoenix. Always see the action at the dunes but how do you get to join in if you don't have one? This way! They have the machines and all the gear and you can ride right there on many acres. And you can't get lost because of the huge windmills. Perfect. They even texted me directions after I called ahead. But the sign is pretty hard to miss Only an hour and a half from the Escondido area so the kids may well go back between road trips. read more

These guys are awesome. My husband and I wanted to take our 15 year old to play around in dune buggies over spring break. We were near Palm Springs and at first we found a company out of Palm Springs (not dezert adventures) that said we would have to have a guide drive us and would not let us drive them ourselves, in fact, they lied and told us that we would have to go all the way to Oregon if we wanted to drive them ourselves. I continued searching and found Dezert Adventures and we drove two hours south to rent. Small business, seems family owned, on the edge of miles and miles of dunes and trails. It was easy, quick and reasonably priced, the guys got us out and playing right away. We rented for half a day and got a bit lost on our way back, they noticed and sent someone out to guide us back! Very fun and very cool. Highly recommend these guys! read more

My boyfriend and I have rented quads from them twice and we've had an LEGEND..wait for it DARY time..Take a lot of water preferably a (camelbak for the ride) a grill, carne asada, and your set! Their back yard has 2 tables under some trees that give great shade. read more

Definitely coming back here! They took us out into the trails and had us drive through different terrains, most of the people in my group were first timers & they were extremely patient with us. We got really close to the turbines which was really cool. They went above and beyond to acommodate a group of 11 and made sure that every single one of us had a good experience and left happy. We had some rain in the forecast and most of us were worried about that, but they let us come in earlier to beat the rain and it definitely made for a good & memorable experience. This place is awesome. We called 3 days ahead and rented 2 250CC and 90CC for 2 hours. We got there and got suited up and took an awesome ride around the own facility on awesome trails and hills. You could do as hard or as easy as you want. The four wheelers were fast and perfect size. The 90CC was slow but perfect for a 9 year old. We really enjoyed our time at Dezert Adventures and would recommend it to anyone looking for some Desert Fun! read more

Found this place on Google. Called at 7 pm the night before, when Google said they were closed, but Kenny answered and made us a reservation for the next day at our requested time! The price was incredibly cheap..$25/hr and the best part..you can just drive right up in any car (no 4 wheel drive needed), and ride the ATVs right on the site with or without a guide! We had an absolute blast! 50 square miles to ride! Super exhilarating! read more

It was soooo worth it. Our guide was super chill, and took us pretty far. The price is perfect, the atv's worked fine. This was a GREAT find! I had a group of friends come in from east coast, and was looking at renting sport bikes, but prices were almost as high as renting an exotic car. ended up looking for ATV's with this place. Here's the good, well actually great. We took a group of boys and Dads out and Kenny allowed us to camp on the property. Super friendly, let us have a fire and use the bbq's. In the morning they were completely organized and had the atv's all ready to go. They gave great instructions to the boys and let us head out on our own, but also trailed us to ensure the boys safety. There is a cell tower right next to their property, so not only had great cell service, but also a great landmark to find our way back. The bad: I left my cell phone there but Kenny was so kind to send it to me. The ugly: I found a rock that looked like petrified poo, but alas lost it, so was not able to use as a prank prop for my neighbors yard. Awesome experience, friendly guys. Highly recommend. DO NOT CALL ANYWHERE ELSE! Let me save you time, the others are arrogant and overpriced, and act like your doing them a favor. Kenny was prompt in responding via E-mail, traveling from Florida to San Diego we were looking for ADVENTURE and WE got it. We had 8 people with very limited experience, Kenny and Grandson took GREAT care of us. Called him early Monday AM, and within 2 hours he had 8 machine's ready set to go.
