Stopped by for a quick bite to eat before mass at the Pantheon. We ordered several of the breakfast combos for a cappuccino and a croissant which made for a great start to the day. For breakfast (coffee and pastries) is fine. For anything else, I don't think so. The pricing of the food options is very high, most likely due to its proximity to the Pantheon in Rome. The service is average with the staff serving quickly but with a non friendly attitude. We asked for a table outdoor and the experience was good since we got to see the Pantheon while having a morning coffee. So, I guess that the ambiance is ok. read more

It's been decades since I've had Italian hot chocolate, and I was delighted to see it on their menu. Thick, like melted chocolate, with a side of cream makes for a decadent treat. We came here as our second to last stop on a 5 course food tour and were all really surprised to go to a spot that was right in the square with the Pantheon. Rule 1 of touristing: don't eat where the sites are. However, this place was super bomb, as were all the places on our tour. I had the carbonara, which was not my favorite type of pasta I found out, but pasta was very well done and the service was stellar. The amatriciana was SUPER GOOD. Two people in our party had it. If I had known better, I would have gotten that. Our waiter was super funny and friendly. Great time eating there. And they have wifi in house. read more

Reviewing di rienzo for the bar - we did not have (an official) meal here. More on that to follow. We came to Di Rienzo two afternoons in a row to enjoy a cocktail (or two, ok, maybe three) and people watch while we played cards with our children. The staff here! Oh heavens, they were so lovely to us. They couldn't have been more accommodating or more generous with us. Come here for the aperitivo hour - plate after plate of little snacks to tempt us. They were so kind and the cocktails were all very good. The view is pretty darn unbelievable and in the peak of the heatwave, their air conditioner worked well :) Highly recommend. What a view of the Pantheon! Nothing can beat it. Food is excellent too. The lemon cake was delicious and stracciatella gelato - excellent. Cappuccino paired with these was awesome. We came here after visiting Rome all day; great stop for a treat at the end of the night. We thought we'd wait a while to be seated, but this wasn't the case at 6:30 in the evening. This is a great location just outside of the Pantheon. Over priced but sitting in the patio with a view of a large fountain and the Pantheon is relaxing. The misters were welcomed though on a hot day in July. Service was rude - the waiter told us we needed to hurry with our order because he was very busy. We kindly suggested he return when he was less busy because we were just enjoying the scenery while sitting in the shade. He then snorted that each of us had to order something though only 3 of the 7 of us knew what we wanted. The best thing about Di Rienzo is the view, as it's located right in front of the Pantheon. It's a nice place to sit outdoors and look at this incredible structure. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of the restaurant. The service wasn't good and at most times the server was non-existent. I had the Pizza Margherita, and although it was good, I had better in Italy. My wife had one of their pasta dish with chicken and didn't like it at all. Point of advice: Don't get suckered into eating at any of the restaurants in the square in front of the Pantheon. I got sucked into one of the more touristy lunch spots because of the view of the Pantheon. They have a lunch special where you get bruschetta, pizza/pasta and coffee/tea for €15. I wouldn't say any of it was amongst the best I've had in Italy. The pasta was better than the pizza to me. I guess I don't dig the roman style of pizza. Outside of the special, the menu was a tad pricey. The service was pretty excellent though. Our server was funny and attentive. Easily shifted from speaking Italian to me to English with my friends. He was also very knowledgeable of the menu. So I'm bumping a star for that. read more

We absolutely loved this restaurant. The setting in overlooking the pantheon at night with occasional opera singers and guitar players on the square made it completely magical. The food was amazing. We ordered a few different pastas, a lot of wine and some unbelievable appetizers. I was pleasantly surprised that the food was so good bc the atmosphere was unreal and usually you don't get both! This place is family owned! Marianna is a awesome owner as is the entire staff which have been here for years. This place has the best food in Rome. Pizza is to die for and they will make you anything you like. This is my seventh stay in Rome and I highly recommend this place. You will never be rushed and it's a great location in front of the Pantheon. Waiters Alfredo, Ato, Salvatore and Luis Antonio have worked here for years! In Italy being a server is a full time profession. Ato has been here for 27 years and Salvatore 42 years!! Alfredo has been here 24 years! This is just an example of their dedication to the establishment. While tipping isn't really expected they are certainly worth an extra few euros. The pasta pizza and wine selections are all wonderful. The Restaurant also owns a hotel that's attached to the same property. read more

Picture a full moon rising above the Pantheon 50 yards in front of you as your waiter opens a bottle of Brunello to accompany your fettucini with black truffles while strains of La Traviata are heard across Piazza della Rotunda. Meravigliosa!! di Rienzo is not inexpensive, but unless you live in Rome, this is THE place to forge unforgettable memories for a lifetime. Nighttime is the most charming time for Rome, and this piazza has one of the best views in Rome -- and with food, too! The breakfast buffet features pastries, cheeses, cold cuts, toasts for around 10 euros AND all the espresso/cappuccino/café you can drink. For lunch, divide a pizza for 12 euros and have a glass of good house wine. Dinner -- well, see above. They have an extensive menu of typical Lazio cuisine -- I'd especially recommend the Saltimbocca and any veal dish, as well as seafood, mushrooms, etc. Tiramisu is fresh and homemade, as are all their desserts. Prices are nominal for Rome, and the waiters will offer dining suggestions for various budgets. Check out the interior, especially if you dine outside. The interior marble walls and chandeliers look like a meringue confection, more than a dining room. Signor di Rienzo, now 87, still stylishly presides unobtrusively from the interior. The piazza itself is wonderful for people watching 24/7, and the waiters keep the buskers away from the tables. Bottom line -- one of the best experiences one can have legally anywhere. read more

I wasn't going to review this place because we stopped by just for drinks....but, when I first walked in, everyone that worked here was so friendly. We were seated, and received out drinks quite fast, with the up most service and presentation. As we chatted for awhile, the server frequently checked on us, and hen brought us out a complimentary desert platter. The platter was delicious and the service was just great. So I'm gonna start with the only good thing about this restaurant and that is that is, that it is in the square with the Pantheon so it's a great view. The appetizer was small and not worth the 15 € I payed for it... A small meat and cheese platter. My main meal "fettuccini with mushrooms" was soggy and sloppy. They were out of 3 different dessert cakes, basically left with the basic chocolate cake. And the service..... Slow, arrogant and frusterating. Over 30 mins to be served 6€ water, they were not even that busy (we were the only ones seated inside). This is a high turnover tourist restaurant in the piazza in front of the Pantheon. Keeping that in mind, this is an excellent restaurant. We were well taken care of as we enjoyed the view of the fountain and the Pantheon from our table. Several tables around us were groups of locals - a nice endorsement for the restaurant. We chose Di Rienzo because of the extensive list of pastas on the menu, rather than the focus on pizzas at many of their competitors. With a great Friuli pinot grigio, we started with delicious melon and proscuitto. Then I went with the spicy Bucatini all Amatriciana while my wife had the Penne Arrabbiata, a large hollow spaghetti with pieces of ham in the sauce. Half way through we switched. Both were really good, although of course hers was best. This was an excellent meal in a perfect environment. Definitely my recommendation amoung the dozens of outdoor establishments in this piazza. read more

Terrible restaurant and service! The service was awful and the food took forever and no one was in the restaurant! We finally got our food and our waiter forgot 2 things. However, he did bring calamari- 2 orders. And then proceeded to charge us $25 per order- the portion was small like a small appetizer and didn't taste good at all. When we asked him about the cost- he showed us a "main dish" in the menu that stated mixed fish. BEWARE of this restaurant!! Bad service and bad food!! read more
