Everywhere else opens at 9am and it was 7am and I just didn't want to wait 2 hours. Sublime catered to that. They are like the lighter, brighter, friendlier version of Oscar Oscar, the hairstylists have about 4 or 5 different levels of expertise, all of which you pay for. Yes, this is going to be a pricey little adventure I was very resigned to that. No, I initially didn't plan on spending that much on a haircut. Having said that, I do pay over $100 for a massage or day spa treatment... and getting your hair done properly is like pampering yourself. I had an Art Director cut my hair (I selected the 'anyone' option online) and it did cost me $115... but it included a deluxe treatment, scalp massage, initial scalp massage and blow dry... which I've got to say, for the service and timing, was very much worth my time. Will be back again... and my hair smells awesome... and they don't even try and sell you products which is a huge plus.

I have never left the place hating how my hair looked. The customer service and little extras that this place offers is also pleasant. I will give you a word of warning though, do not expect to be able to walk in without an appointment. When making an appointment, you will be asked which what level you wish your hairdresser to be at, keep in mind that the price differs accordingly to the experience level of the hairdresser. I usually ask for the a second level hairdresser which costs me $75 which includes blow drying and straightening. Upon arrival, you will be offered a tea or coffee and biscuit. You will then get a relaxing massage before the hairdresser begins cutting away. Whenever I have asked my hairdresser questions relating to products for my hair, she has been very helpful and it is clear she knows what she is talking about. I never feel like I am being pushed to buy a product also, she is very respectful of that. Overall, I recommend this hairdressers. The staff are generally very nice and have the skills to back that up.

But my girlfriend of years has been going here for her last three haircuts (she's developed a penchant for short asymmetrical cuts with a choppy fringe) and seems pretty sold on the place, so I will be channeling her experience for this one. She was first prompted to try the place when a friend who'd had dreadlocks for 10 years decided to get them cut off at Chop. Apparently on arrival you get the royal treatment with the staff offering you a drink -- not just the usual coffee but wine or orange juice, pretty sweet. The place has a pretty sleek design with hardwood floors and trendy textured hexagonal patterned wallpaper. With all these hard surfaces it's a good thing that they don't turn the music up too loud. Recently my girlfriend came back with a cut and a colour (usually she'd just get the former). When I asked her about the price she was tight-lipped at first, then let me know it was $180. Apparently, that's not too bad.

I've been long and short with Chop and over the last 12 months moved from my natural brunette to blonde foils. I've never had any problems with the finished product after a visit to Chop, but I feel comfortable enough to talk to them if I wasn't 100% happy with what had been done. They never push products on you, rather gently suggest what would work best for your hair (I do use their products as my hair is always at its best when I do). Other than the incredible work they do with hair, everyone at Chop Haircutters is lovely, friendly and make you feel completely welcome. Their prices are on the high side, but no more so than many other boutique salons around Brisbane. And in my opinion, you get what you pay for! And I'm always happy with my hair. If you're looking to try something new, go for Chop. I have seen classic hairstyle walk through the salon, as well as some great funky and alternative cuts and colours.

Will it be too short? Will my hair fall out/break? However I always feel safe giving my hair to the staff at Oscar Oscar. They all have years experience at one of the best salons in Australia. Perfect haircuts. Every time. They give you a beautiful head massage with cuts, and if you get colour, also a hand massage. I have been coming here since I was a teen. Beautiful, clean, modern salon. Two levels, large mirrors, the lighting isn't that flattering but they need to see your hair colour properly. Never had a bad experience. The basins are fairly comfy for basins. I like the chairs they have at the mirrors - comfy. Though your butt can get numb if you're there for a colour and cut and have long hair but that's to be expected. With plenty of mags, and an assortment of beverages and biscuits. Now lets not tip toe around the mulberry bush - this is a very expensive salon. Haircuts start at $100 for women and $80 for men - and this is for a stylist. Yes, as you go up experience the price increases all the way to a master stylist at $140 for women and $120 for men. The only thing that does get my goat is when you pay over $100 for a a haircut and the hairdresser doesn't blow-dry or straighten/curl it, an apprentice does. They do a good job, but still. They use Adveda products that smell amazing. Soft product push - just tell them you have enough at home or a no thanks. The staff are mostly friendly, though some aloof and might I say stuck up. It additionally took RIDICULOUSLY long to get it done. I was waiting almost 5-6 hours for the whole thing I reckon. Then their Eftpos machine wasn't working with my card so they took down my details and proceeded to call me everyday to hassle me about the money like I was some sort of criminal? Over time she has selected and trained a team of hairdressers who are highly skilled and have great people skills. These girls and guys know their tools of trade, know their colours, and most importantly know their customers. I went in on Saturday (they squeezed me in a short notice) just to have a tidy up of neck and around my ears before Xmas and my holiday. The tidy-up was done quickly, expertly and happily. God, I love this place - and for this they charged me very very little. In saying this, an actual package of services eg cut and colour is your usual cost of over $100 so don't think that my small cost for a tidy up indicates this place is "cheap as chips". It's not, but you get what you pay for. A very professional cut and colour. A big thumbs up to Lizzie who has been a hard-working, dedicated salon owner who has done all of this with 2 small children. I really admire her work and what she has created.
