Today I got my hair done!!!! It's been a while... I Love…read morethis salon!!! Courtney does my hair. So I consider myself fortunate because I moved to Bluffton in June of 2019. At that time I had a bob style cut which requires a skilled hairdresser. Two separate people recommended Cocoa Rose and they said to ask for Christina. When I called for an appointment Christina was booked (she's the owner). So over time I went to one of the other hairdressers in the shop. I was satisfied. For one appointment that girl wasn't available and I was scheduled with Courtney. I AM SO HAPPY!!! Courtney listens to me. She makes suggestions... it's like she's in my head. So with COVID, the last time I had my hair cut at a salon was February 2019. At that time we talked about cutting the bob and connecting the front and back ... (this is technical stuff here... lol). Well because we did that my hair grew in beautifully and when I finally got back to the salon, my hair really just needed a trim because, well now I'm growing it out. But I have seriously gone off in a tangent. The shop has such a cute vibe, everyone is friendly and professional!!! It's clean. They are CDC compliant. I feel safe going into the salon and getting my hair done!!! So like I said, I was fortunate to hit it right and find someone that I trust to do my hair!!! Not only did my curls barely last an hour, my hair was barely curled leaving the salon and my appointment lasted two hours. The stylist seemed grossly inexperienced and took way too long. The vibe was uncomfortable conversationally from the get, and my stylist kept curling inverted (towards the head) and immediately brushing out whole sections before spraying (joking, "we don't want TOO many curls," after I specifically kept asking for more curls). Sprinkle in some jokes about "going back to cosmetology school" and repetition of questions based on what I thought was a relatively straightforward appointment, and you have one of my worst experiences in a salon. It's a shame it was for such an important event; you truly would've never known I went to a salon upon leaving.

My daughter and I both got the "Halo" face frame highlights, customized to each of our preferences. Celeste went the extra mile to ensure my color was just how I like it: seamless with a root shadow and color block toning as I needed. Shannon gave my daughter the PERFECT sunkissed, natural pop she needed to brighten her without looking overdone. I also ask for six inches cut off to get rid of my dead ends, she said okay. After she cut my hair I stood up and at least 12 inches of hair was gone. I had really long hair so seeing it like that was very upsetting. And then she didn't even give me layers or styled my hair. I had a GREAT haircut here at Great Clips (Buckwalter) from Tyreek. I chose this Buckwalter…read morelocation because it showed 0 mins wait at check in. (It's a walk in system where you check in online and it puts you in the waiting list and tells you how many minutes until your appointment). I'd never ever been to a Great Clips location before. (I've always gone to pricey salons where the haircut alone is $50). Great clips is less than half that so I had to give it a try (senior discounts for 65+ too). I was able to be seated with my stylist in 2 minutes after walking in, so the check-in info (0 minutes) was accurate. The salon was also very clean and the stylists were cleaning up after each client). I have long blonde hair and just wanted about 4 inches cut off (dry hair cut)- straight across the bottom. Tyreek listened to what I wanted, showed me exactly how much he was planning to cut (for my approval), and then went to work. I thought I'd be in/out in 5 minutes but Tyreek pinned up half my hair and carefully cut section by section. I have a LOT of hair. He did an absolutely FLAWLESS job. I was there 35 mins or so from check in to check out. Tyreek gave me the perfect cut, the perfect length, and exactly what I wanted! I am very happy and will ask for Tyreek next time.
