Not sure where all the employees are hiding and when you find one to get your shoes, they tell you to go to the tablet and scan your own shoes and someone will come out 15mins later after you keep on asking for someone. Dicks seem to be everywhere these days. You can't escape dicks. They're doing well because people are spending more on guns and hunting and fishing crap maybe. In this way - Dicks reflect life itself. In a way, we're all dicks. They have very overpriced clothing and footwear and guns and hunting stuff of course and they never have the selection that I want. When I can find something I need for soccer or whatever, it's usually Limited in terms of the sizes and selection, and it's always about three times more expensive than I think it should be. read more

Well went with all intentions of getting an updated treadmill for myself. Your sales associate talked me out of it in Ten seconds! He put his foot on it never offered to grab a key for me to try it. He said he had all kinds of issues with updating told me it didn't work without wifi. Went to show me suspension never lifted it to look under it, sides were covered.He knew little about it and bad mouthed equipment found at Academy which it also iFIT equipment. So I left and a week later bought it at Academy two young men there were super nice told me all about it and my husband bought it for me on the spot. So you missed out and made my experience awful. I swear every time I come here the experiences get worse and worse and the store has only been open a couple of weeks. I first came here to get some items that showed available at the store online but when I came to the store I nor any other store associate could find the gloves or even the brand available. Ive come a couple of times in between then and now and the items that I'm looking for never seem to be in stock. Now this visit I placed an order for a shirt and paid for it online and just wanted to pick it up in store...you'd think that would be simple enough but I have literally been standing a checkout waiting for 25 minutes for a shirt I could have walked in and found on the floor and checked out with 4 times over by now. I will NEVER return to this store. The cashier was very rude. My husband placed an online order for pants and they were not ready when I arrived to the store, instead of helping to expedite the order or further explain the process the cashier and I believe her boss said that we would have to wait till we receive an email. I said I would just get a different pair and return the order and the girl said I would have to come back in and return the online order. The attitude and lack of customer service was unbelievable. I proceeded to still pick out the same pants and pay for them, when I went to pay with the same cashier she left the security tag in so I had to go back up to her after checkout. So I walked into the store today hoping to find some World Series gear for Nationals. I knew they would have Houston but to my disbelief they had no nationals gear. Now I don't watch baseball that often but I'm a huge fan and collectible of jerseys, etc. just moving from Washington DC I remember when they first opened National stadium. So with them going to World Series I wanted to buy some gear for Houston and Nationals. I walked around the store walking past several employees not being greeted one time. I than walked up to a lady who was working near the door putting hangars on stuff and asked about any National's gear and she said no. I kindly asked why and she said "My store doesn't have room" in a condescending tone. Now I understand retail and I get that possibly this area is a huge Houston Astro fan base but to say all you carry is Houston area sports gear and I find a Tom Brady Jersey is funny to me. This store lacks effective communication, and any customer service skills. The only thing I can say is the amount of merchandise they did have and the organization of certain Dept. Btw they didn't even have Astro World Series jerseys. I will not return. I rather go to the Dicks sporting goods by the galleria even though it's much further away from me. I love this place! The employees are always nice and always so helpful. The store is super clean and so easy to navigate!! Not even for Christmas was there a long line to check out! They run some really great sales and also carry the new Carrie Underwood collection! My only wish was that they would have a bigger section of BOYS ADIDAS CLOTHES! But I will say as I was looking for Christmas gifts this year at the last minute of course, NO One had roller skates in the Sugarland area and my niece really wanted a pair!! Low and Behold Dicks had them and they came with elbow, wrist, and knee pads!! They had them in different color and different sizes! My niece ended up loving her Christmas gift and I scored as the BEST AUNT EVER!! I will say the prices are a little high on some stuff but they do have great sales!! read more

Wow! I am not sure what to say about this franchise. Their customer service sucks big time. I'm guessing they don't take money from black folk. I have traveled all over the Houston to at least 5 stores and all are the same , I went in looking for a Kimber 1911 handgun and was not able to buy one cause no one seemed interested enough to sell one . Deer brook had a guy at the counter who never even looked my way and I stood their for 15 min. Today I went to Parkdale mall and thought maybe it would be different, but nope! This is the second time this has happened, the first was a couple of years ago when I was looking to buy a set of Calloway golf clubs. I got my clubs and paid less, for them then I would have at "dicks" well dicks ! I got my 1911 today , it's not a Kimber but a Rock Island and thanks to you I got a great deal with 1791 holster . The workers here are the rudest people I've ever encountered. Asked the cashier where's the next closest location, she then replied "you have a phone, go look it up!". I was shocked. Then I politely said "you didn't have to respond in that manner" and asked her if she even knows any other locations besides here. She then replied "of course I do but I ain't got time for that!". I visited here for the first time on 1/4/18. I had to make an exchange for some items I had for some time. Tara was at the return counter , so I asked her if they would help me with an exchange. She was super sweet and professional. She said yes and pointed me in the direction I needed to go in to get the replacements I needed. But she then went above and beyond by meeting me there without being asked and spending a significant amount of time helping me find what I needed. When I went to get the exchange done, Kevin helped me. He too was patient , knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Dick's please recognize these two employees. Thanks to their helpfulness, you have gained a new customer. The items I had were gifts and I had never shopped there before. I will now! read more

This was my first time in a dicks sporting goods. I used to shop at Sports Authority before it went bankrupt. Anyway, the reason for 1 star is because I stood in line at checkout for over 20 minutes. There was 1 woman working the cash register and only 2 people on front of me. This lady kept calling for help and nobody came. When the person behind me asked if anyone else was working, the poor lady said she keeps calling for help and nobody was responding. I was about to walk out and 2 other workers finally came to the front to help. The person that helped me looked like the store manager. He asked how I was doing and I said not good, I've been waiting in line for over 20 minutes. He then asked for my information (phone number, address etc). Oct 6, 2019 was my first time shopping at a Dick's Sporting Goods. We stopped in Sugarland Texas and I was very impressed with employee,Maxwell he greeted us and helped us throughout the store as we shopped. He is definitely an asset to your business. The next employee Key was at the register he provided excellent customer service and asked if we found everything we needed. These two individuals are what make your store a success. They are both the epitome of great customer service. Since Golfsmith on Westheimer closed, I had to find a new place for club repair. I thought I give this Dick's Sporting Goods a try. The gentleman was nice and courteous to do my club repair. When I picked up my repaired club, the entire shaft had grip solvent dripped all over it. To pull out the golf head, two major paint chips (about 3mm wide) were placed on the head. Through all my years of going to Golfsmith for club repair or grip installation never once did my club come back in the condition I received my club today. I will not visit Dick's Sporting Goods in Sugar Land again. read more

The Sugar Land location is open now and has been for about two weeks. They are still in their growing pains/learning stage right now. It's a beautiful store inside, well lit, nice displays - definitely an upscale demographic shopper attraction. However -- I'm walking out the store and the managers and the head of the local store chain who must've been reviewing the store operations noticed I did not have a purchase - smart -- they asked if there was anything they could do. I told them I was trying to purchase a 10 1/2 running shoe and they could not find one for me. They themselves even offered to go back there and help me find a pair, which impressed me, but at that point I was too frustrated and running out of time. Sometimes a 10 can fit or even an 11 if a 10 1/2 is not available. I told them they needed to have a way of knowing what shoes were in stock in my size or know the stock well enough to pull out an alternative brand that offers a 10 1/2 or would fit - i.e. this brand runs big or small. The idea of having to pick up each shoe and ask to see if it has a 10.5 even available is crazy, time consuming and frustrating for sports shoes. It's much easier to have all sizes out there so you can look for availability at a glance, like Academy. But it does make for a neater department appearance. The clerk was clueless, the other clerks were just hanging around - I didn't tell them that. They asked where I bought my shoes in the past and I said Academy and am going to go back here, I thought I give you guys a chance. They need to know this kind of feedback and were appreciative. I realize the store is still new, the clerks not sure of the merchandise yet, but hopefully they will talk to and train them to make recommendations and to make that sale and a customer happy. They are also higher end brand and style shoes, the sale price was $89.99 most were $109-$149. At that price point you should get better service and follow through during the trying on stage. I'm giving the store right now 2 stars because there is potential and room for improvement. I would be willing to go back and update my review later for other products - athletic wear, yoga clothes. And yes, maybe give their shoe department another chance. read more

I'd like to start with saying that I myself am a manager in retail, and that I never, ever take my time to write a review, whether it's positive or negative; this is an exception. I'd also like to say that I've always enjoyed shopping at Dick's and was a frequent customer. I purchased a pair of ASIC's sneakers for 119.99 on 09/02/2017. Even though I've had a couple pairs of ASIC's in the past, this pair just didn't seem to be fitting well and became uncomfortable for me. Since I wear these for work, I decided to come back to the store on 09/07/2017 ( 5 days later). Again... Given my many (over a decade) years in customer service and management, I was more than cordial and respectful in how I communicated my situation to the cashier. At this time, I had these shoes on my feet since as I had just came from work, with my receipt. I told her they just weren't fitting right, and that I'd like to exchange, NOT REFUND, my pair of shoes for something that fit better, since I had my receipt. The cashier then paged the store manager; she came shortly after. She asked what was going on, I did, and then she told me that their policy states that they cannot accept worn shoes, even for exchange. I said, well, this was only 5 days ago, I have my receipt, I'm not asking for my money back, and the shoes are mint condition. She said no, I'm sorry. I asked if there was anything, literally anything at all I could do to at least get this resolved through possibly a gift card or what have you. She said no. I understand there's refund policies( I deal with them all day), however, customer satisfaction is what runs a successful business. It's how my issue was dealt with. Your management didn't try AT ALL try turn my negative experience into a positive one. There wasn't an apology, a means to make it better, nothing. I mean seriously, not one damn thing. It's unfortunate, but because of this poor experience at this one location, I'm done with this company. read more
