There was a vast selection of items here compared to other Dicks Sporting Goods I've been to. I always gravitate to the shoe area and scope out some new running shoes. Saucony, Brooks, I hear you calling me!! We were greeted immediately upon entry. I found a couple XS mens shirts. Those are always hard to find. They were too boxy for me though. I can't be the only picky one out there! The store was cleaned and fairly busy. The registers were surprisingly not busy. I have been to this location several times and I have NEVER been so disrespected by an associate. I came in for a simple return for store credit. A you long girl by the name KIERRA was very rude and disrespectful. She said I would get store credit, but failed to tell me the amount and had I know I would get back literally 1/5th of the amount I paid I would not have returned it. I KINDLY asked that next time she tell someone what they will be receiving back before processing the return and she continued to be rude. As I walked away she proceeded to talk negatively about me to another employee. People like this should not be the face of the company. If you don't want to be kind to people DO NOT WORK WITH PEOPLE. Period. Danielle the manager was very helpful and kind, but I doubt I will be coming back to this location if this employee is still present. I hope upper management reads this. The only solid sports store around now that Sports Authority has closed in Matteson. Staff might be helpful if you can find them. I often check out selection online before shopping there. Frequent shopper program is good if you buy lots of equipment- most shoppers are hard core in their sport. Open late for those last minute items when your kids don't try things on until the night before and they need a size larger.... read more

I visited Dick's in an effort to look and try an inversion table to help my aching back. The kid greeting customers had no clue what it was. I finally found them in the equipment section in the back corner. There were three models and they all had signs saying not to use them. I waited around about 10-15 minutes for a salesperson, no luck. Went up front, asked the manager to page someone. Waited another 15-20 minutes. Went back up front and asked the kid at the door to page someone. FINALLY, a Jack Black lookalike shows up, only to inform me that I cannot try the machine, even in his presence. Customer service sucked. Store policy also sucked. How do you make a decision to buy an expensive, heavy piece of equipment without trying it? If that is the policy, might as well order online. After having two great experiences at Dick's, it is no wonder that it has become my go-to store as my son begins his dive into athletics. Not knowing which sport will strike his fancy, I have spent the last year or so giving him a pretty full preview into the sports offered at his age. This spring is indoor soccer and t-ball. Hello shin guards, gloves, bats, knee-high socks, practice balls, spikes, t-stands, baseball pants, etc. I hadn't realized this but until now, I made fairly big purchases at Dicks -- bikes, an elliptical, etc. But as Jack needs more of the daily sporting equipment, I find myself there for the smaller things. And so my view on the store has started to shift. My only true complaint is this -- there are plenty of staff members ready to help you with a larger purchase but in the more generalized sports areas, nobody was begging to help me find anything. In fact, I had a hard time tracking down someone to help me find what I was looking for on my last visit. In fact, I never did find someone but came upon the item myself. Having said that, I will admit that they have a great selection and the store is organized well - which prevents you from needing too much assistance. I just wish that when you did need help, you didn't need to walk over to the cash registers on the other side of the building, to get it. After picking up some stuff for the kiddo, my focused turned to something I've put off for a while -- running shoes. I had been sticking to the usual Nike or New Balance shoes that I've been purchasing since high school. However, I began training for a 5k (first time in my life) and realized I needed something a bit more particular. I approached the guy working the shoe department. He had me walk along the track to see how my feet hit the ground. Based on that, he made a recommendation. I gave them a shot and have seen a noticeable difference. This could be a great store if the service were better. Luckily for me, I generally know what I want and I'm able to get in and out. I reside in Tinley Park, but I live closer to Orland Park. Best bet: go to the Orland Park location. This store is always neatly stock and provides several sports brands to choose from. The mall that its located in is nice and thriving. It's located conveniently off of a major travel corridor(I- 80): easy access and easy exit. Problem is, staff is hard to connect with. That says a great deal about the obvious poor management. Corporate heads need to make it to this store quickly! It's time for genuine customer service. I've stopped asking questions of the staff: they are clueless and I plan to write a letter to the corporate office. The consumers in my area deserve better!! read more

This is a very nice, clean and fully stocked sporting goods store. But the employees are for shit! My buddy was looking for some golf shoes. As we are walking around the department skeletor walks by and says hello, walks into this closet with a mirror in it and proceeds to fix himself? My friend asks if he has the shoe in 11 and the guy starts kicking the boxes of the one's in that size and walks away. That wasn't the @#*%# question @$$ *@#! Then he comes back and says these are good shoes, because they had them in stock. The one's he wanted were 40 bucks more. These tards are obviously not on commission. read more

I would leave two reviews for my day today if I could. The first would be 1 star and the second five stars. We shop here often and have been pleased with the selection, pricing and good customer service. Rewards program is excellent. We went in today to buy my son new basketball shoes. He found a style he liked and the sales guy brought out two different sizes for him to try on. So far so good. When the kid can out from the stock room, he told us that the navy ones my son liked would be including the one from the display. He proceeded to hand us the box and nothing else. It wasn't until I was struggling to remove the insert from inside the display that he even offered to help. I asked if they have any discount for shoes when one was the display? He gave me attitude and said they didn't do that while taking the box away from me. Terrible customer service. I went up front and asked for the manager. Here's where Dick's redeemed themselves. The manager on today, deandra(sp?), was awesome. She explained clearly to me that the displays don't get tried on as much as the ones in the stock room and was very nice about it. I told her that made sense and stated that had the kid in the shoe department explained that to me rather than giving me attitude, I would have been totally fine with that. She went to the shoe department after apologizing for the way we were treated, got the shoes and brought them up front and gave me a 25.00 gift card for our trouble. Good customer service people. This is why we'll go back. She treated me as if I was the only customer in the store. Bravo for Dick's recognizing good talent for their management team. read more

I wish there was an option for one star. I originally went to the Bourbonnais store to buy a Yeti Rambler. They were all out of them, I called the Tinley Store and asked if they had any. I spoke to a guy who said he could see them and they had about 8. I then drove to the Tinley store from Bourbonnais about a 30 minute drive on I-57. When I got to the store there was none. I spoke to a manager who asked me who did talk to? Stupid me didn't get a name. He claims they must have been sold, No way did they get sold in that time. I think whoever I spoke to mistook the Yeti Lowball as the Ramblers. The manager was just like Oh well you should have gotten a name. The person helping my friend and myself in the golf section was not friendly at all, basically being rude to us saying we don't look like golfers and cracking smart comments about how we swing the golf club. We only golf a handful times a year and was looking to upgrade a driver and the person helping us couldn't explain the differences between the different drivers and numericals postings on the club. This store needs better management and more conscientious employees. The customer service here is terrible. I had an issue with trying to buy a pair of women's Nike running shoes in the store. The cashier and management were nothing but rude and very unable to help. The funny thing was that the man in line immediately before me was also very upset over the lack of service and helpfulness he was receiving. Both he and I walked out of the store without purchasing anything because of the inability of the employees and management to help. I just got off the phone with "manager" Lauren. I purchased a mountain bike (diamondback outlook) less than 48 hours ago. I was unable to make turns in the store, and due to this did not know that the bike was ultimately too small (I'm a novice at this, I haven't purchased a bike since I was riding BMX as a kid.) I spoke with Laren, who calls herself a "manager" and she said absolutely no returns on bikes. I seriously was able to ride this bike for 5 minutes at home, before I found that it was just not fitting correctly. Needless to say, I will not be purchasing from Dick's sporting goods anytime soon...if ever again. The customer service by "management" there is ridiculous, and completely unprofessional. read more

I like the store and most of the employees; however, it only takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch. Sorry to use a cliche, but they really need to watch who they hire. One of the cashiers was extremely rude. She saw me waiting in line and decides to close down when I get to her register. Did I get an apology? A polite explanation for her closing her register when I place my items on the counter? Nothing. A sigh and, "I'm closed!" Felt like she wanted to add a "Jeez!" at the end. Went here today to find a bike. A lady greated me at the door and.pointed me into the right direction. Employee Brett was very helpful. He told me about all different types of bikes and what type of ridings they are best for. He gave me time to think it over. Told me where he would be and jumped to help again when i made my decision. He checked all gears showed me how they worked. He even walked me to the checkout and helped me put my new bike in my car. He was very professional,honest full of knowldge and helpful. Good selection BUT horrible customer service from the employees and management. I was just browsing around and I had two employees follow me from a distance. They made me feel like I was a criminal and pretty much forced me out due to uncomfortableness. I called management and they said it's protocol if suspicion arises. Worst customer service ever! Waited in line 10mins while the only cashier sat on the phone with her open line light on. She finishes her call shuts off the light and says sorry I'm closed now. I had 2 additional people behind me ready to check out. There was about 3 other employees folding items in different areas instead of ringing people out. Called store manager and basically she'll talk to the employee. That employee should lose her job. Treating people so rudely is never acceptable and no manager should tolerate that from an employee.
