I was staying in Mainz but really wanted some waffles so I went to die Waffel in Wiesbaden and it was definitely worth it! The menu was in german (not sure if they have an english one) so we just asked our waiter to give us whatever was best. We got waffles with bananas, chocolate sauce, and vanilla sauce. They were delicious and a great price! I also ordered chai but I couldn't really taste it after the sweet waffles so I'm not sure how good it was. They have 2 buildings right across the street from each other, but only one serves waffles. The one that serves waffles is in the shop that doesn't have the "die Waffel" sign on it. read more

Friendly waffle shop and cafe for visitors to Wiesbaden! Saying it's the best waffle outside of Belgium might be an overstatement but I did enjoy my stay. The owner doesn't speak much English but if you ask for help, he will likely get the cafe owner across the street to come and translate for you. Great place to read and people watch! read more

Best waffles in Wiesbaden if you don't want to drive to Belgium. Prices are extremely low and quality of the waffles is great. A nice little place to go and get your fix. read more

Really liked the Kumpir with ground beef and jalapeños. Absolutely delicious and freshly made after custom order. Came out super quick too. Also it's on the cheap side which is great for students. I'll be back for sure :) read more

We were looking for a breakfast place open on sundays and found Die Waffel. Everything we had was on point. I got a mixed Afghan dish with rice veggies and meatballs. The fam got waffles with bananas. The coffee was really good as well. The first guy we talked to didn't speak English that well and our german is still horrible so he found someone to help us out. Great lazy Sunday brunch. read more

It was a German breakfast pizza (more like a flatbread in type, if you are used to American dining) with a refreshing sour cream base. Just know it is a big portion before ordering! The coffee was great, as well - they offered the local Van Dyck coffee roast, which is regional to Cologne, organic, and fair-trade. Couldn't ask for more out of the experience!

Ja, in der "Waffel" gibt es tatsächlich wie der Name verrät auch Waffeln. Aber viel mehr gibt es dort ganz tolle afghanische Gerichte, wie Kumpir, diverse Eintöpfe, Nan oder Reisgerichte. Ich habe schon einiges probiert und war immer äußerst zufrieden. Vor allem die Kumpirgerichte haben es mir angetan. Obwohl ich kulinarisch eigentlich schon sehr viel ausprobiert habe, kannte ich das Gericht vorher nicht. Man erhält eine Ofenkartoffel mit Rotkraut, Joghurtsauße, Käse und diversen Zutaten, zwischen denen man wählen kann. Man kann soweit ich weiß 2 oder 3 zusätzliche Zutaten, wie Hackfelisch, Okraschoten, Aubergine, Thunfisch etc. dazuwählen. Lecker! Und die Preise dazu unschlagbar. Man bekommt eine richtig sättigende Portion für gerade mal 5,6 Euro. Das Interieur ist orientalisch angehaucht und gemütlich eingerichtet. Man wird bedient, zum Zahlen geht man aber immer vor an die Kasse. Alles in Allem, top!!! read more

Ich gehe schon seit Jahren in die Waffel und muss mich hier jetzt doch mal eintragen. Also - in den "Afghanischen Teller" kann ich mich eigentlich reinlegen ... seeeehr lecker. Ich esse das eigentlich immer und man weiß sogar wenn ich reinkomme was ich gerne für Beilagen hätte. Das Gericht ist lecker und gut gewürzt und auch die scharfe Soße und der Joghurt passen sehr gut dazu. Auch den grünen Tee mit Kardamom oder mal ne Weinschorle oder Saftschorle kann man nur empfehlen - den Kaffee natürlich auch. Und wer noch nicht satt geworden ist, oder nur mal Lust auf was Süßes hat, kommt auch bei einer Waffel - wie ich neulich mit frischen Erdbeeren voll auf seine Kosten. Zu empfehlen für die Mittagspause, oder für den Hunger zwischendurch bzw. zum Abendessen. Man kann die Waffel wirklich sehr empfehlen - ein Besuch lohnt sich bestimmt. read more

Afghanisch. Unfassbar gut. Wir sind mittlerweile Stammgäste und so gut wie jedes Wochenende zu Gast. Zur Korrektur von von manch anderen Kommentaren. Die Waffel und Gegenüber sind nur räumlich von einander getrennt und haben deswegen unterschiedliche Namen. In beiden Lokalen bekommt man das gleiche. Nun zum Essen... Das Naan. Die Kumpir. Die Waffeln. Alles schmeckt absolut fantastisch. Das Lokal ist klein aber stilvoll und gemütlich eingerichtet. Das Personal ist sympathisch und blitzschnell. Selbst bei vollem Haus wartet man selten länger als 5 Minuten auf sein Essen. Die Preise sind für die Qualität und den Geschmack überraschend günstig. Jedes FastFood Restaurant ist da teilweise teurer. Sehr zu empfehlen! read more

Super Qualität für niedrige Preise und große Portionen. Die Stimmung ist gut, der Service ist freundlich, das Lokal nett eingerichtet. Natürlich handelt es sich bei der Waffel eher um ein kleines Restaurant/Bistrot, man sitzt etwas enger zusammen aber das passt zum Laden. Für mich ist die Waffel und auch das Gegenüber inzwischen immer wieder ein Anlaufpunkt in Wiesbaden. Es gibt in dieser Stadt viele überteuerte und schlechte Restaurants, und da bieten diese beiden freundlichen, familiären und günstigen Lokale eine wunderbare Ausnahme. read more

Die gefüllte Kartoffel ist absolut lecker. Ich kannte diese Speise aus Bulgarien. In Deutschland zurück haben wir nach dieser Speise gesucht und sind auf die Waffel gestoßen. Sehr lecker! Ebenfalls zu empfehlen ist der Hähnchen-Rollo :-) read more

Als regelmäßiger Gast kann ich den freundlichen Service, die leckeren Smoothies und das gute Essem jedem empfehlen. Mit dem Nan-der-Woche gibt es oft auch interessante Abwechslung zur etwas kleinen Karte. read more
