Her office in Ithaca is warm and inviting, with complimentary muffins, tea, and water for patients in the waiting area. The waiting area reminds me of a living room, with ceramic figurines sitting on bookshelves, and comfy, uphosltered wooden chairs along the walls. I met with one of the nurses and with Mary Lou Philips, MSN, CNM. They answered my questions patiently and thoroughly. When I experienced an exceptional amount of pain during a procedure, I was treated with respect, kindness, and compassion. The day before I was left a voice text on my phone which instructed me to arrive 15 minutes before by appointment time, no problem. I arrived 15 minutes early, and waited behind one patient checking in. When I checked in I was told I was late, and that I should have come at 1:00 for my 1:30 appointment. I told the receptionist that was not the message I was given, my instructions were to come 15 minutes early. She said she would ask the MD if it was okay to see me. When she returned, I showed her my iPhone's message which read 15 minutes early, she said the dr. said I'd have to reschedule. I asked her to please take my phone back to the dr and show her the message. She said it was too late she is seeing her next patient, by this time it was about 1:25, needless to say, had I been able to have my appointment I would have waited for the dr to see me sometime after 1:30. I guess it's okay for me to wait, but not Dr. Garcia. I told the receptionist there was no need to reschedule my appointment. I refuse to miss another half day of work. If this is how they treat new patients, I want nothing to do with her business.

He guarantees access to his care By telling to come in right away if there is a problem. He promises to care for chronic situations right away, even often stepping away from the active clinic to help in regular patient rooms. Deb, his PA, consults with him on challenging treatment options. Both have an excellent "bedside manner" as well. The office check in kiosk is very helpful. The office staff are insistent on patient responsibility and advocating for themselves. The office professionals are learning to recognize urgent care situations in this highly specialized office. Come prepared to advocate for what you need To feel better. Good communication between patient and office staff is so important. I look forward to growing that relationship as much as I can knowing the staff will do whatever it takes to do the same.

In mid-November I started to experience some major health issues and I repeatedly attempted to get a "sick appointment" with Nikkie. After I was unable to get an appointment to see her I sent her several messages through my patient portal. The only response I got was from a nurse telling me I needed to schedule an appointment with Nikkie. I responded that I was unable to get an appointment and would like to talk to NIkkie personally. I never received a message back via the patient portal. Due to the fact that I was unable to get in contact with my primary healthcare provider I had to go to the Emergency Department looking for help. From late November to mid-December I had to go to the ER 3 separate times for help. One of the ER physicians contacted FHN and by phone requested an appointment for me, which they also ignored. Two more Emergency Department requests for me to see my primary fell on deaf ears. As of today, I still have not seen or been contacted by this office. This level of indifference displayed by a medical provider for a patient is absolutely disgusting as well as dangerous. I am sharing my story of medical abuse and neglect to hopefully prevent this from happening to anyone else. This is truly repulsive to see someone who chose to care for others abandon a patient when they need care the most.

At one point I heard someone yell, **"You got the high score, Pete!"** Maybe there was an innocent explanation, but after waiting six hours, it certainly didn't inspire confidence. It felt less like a hospital and more like I was interrupting game night. If patients are expected to wait this long, the least the staff could do is make it look like patient care is the priority.
