I've been to Hall Camera a couple of times. The first was several months back when the cap came off…read moremy lens for my Olympus Pen E-P3 camera. The lens itself is a bit smaller so finding a lens cap can be hard, but I got one here along with a clean cloth. Then last week my camera sort of stopped working. It worked enough to take a photo unless I tried to zoom in with the lens it gave a "check the lens status" error. I decided to come down to Hall Camera to see if they could help me out before automatically buying a new lens and/or camera. The man working there was great. We tested another Olympus lens on my camera to see if the issue was just with the lens or the camera itself (it was a lens issue). While Hall Camera didn't have a way to repair my lens the man gave me the name and number of a camera repair shop in Rathmines that might be able to help me out. The fact that he gave me this information instead of automatically trying to upsell me on buying a new lens or a new camera made this a great experience. The staff was friendly and if you are looking for a new camera they seem to have a good selection (along with other photography equipment). I highly recommend checking out Hall Camera.

The staff member was friendly and approachable and took considerable time running through options before I picked the right item for my needs. They have a nice big shop that's well laid out, in which you can print your own photos, buy any type of photographic accessories you can think of, DSLRs, cheaper point & clicks, instant cameras and the lot.

I found them shamelessly untrustworthy, bare-faced, unscrupulous liars and time-wasters and I got ripped-off in my purchase also. If that's your ideal-thing-you are welcome to this shop my friend. I told one of this shops "Camera experts" I wanted a quiet zoom lensed camcorder. He recommended one and I bought it-went on holidays and when I played back my recordings I heard an interfering & loud noise when the zoom was being used. It absolutely ruined the video. I brought it back and he pretended to listen to it and insisted that it wasn't making any noise at all, and if it had been making any noise at all, he would "replace it, no problem". I refused to accept this brush-off and I insisted that he go into a quiet room then and listen. He grudgingly did this and then admitted it was making noise but then said that was a "normal noise". I refused to accept this and reminded him that it was recommended by his colleague "expert" for its quiet zoom and that he had himself admitted that it should not make any noise. Then he admitted the noise was not normal so I asked for a replacement but he insisted on sending it to UK for 6 weeks to be fixed instead, but that if it came back still making the noise I could have "a refund, no problem." I had to do without this next 6 weeks, which was another holiday period, without any camera. I got it back, including a technicians report (from a guy in Cork not the UK) that said a component had been replaced and the sound on zooming was now gone - but - guess what - it was just as noisy as previously. I asked for a refund. He now offered a replacement. I tested another of the same type at the counter but it too made the loud sound on zooming. I asked for a refund. They refused and now were maintaining that all the zoom lenses on all the camcorders made a noise on zooming. I saoid that this was convenient waffle and was just being made up. They said they did not give refunds and then became were extremely abusive and infract hysterical. Like I said - Avoid like the Plague unless you have endless time and tolerance for months of frustrating bull. Its too much hassle to take a claim in the Small claims court so you could just get stuck with something. I just sold the camera to a guy for half the price and put it down to a bad learning experience.
