Dillon is like a mad scientist, and I mean that in a good way. he is so focused on getting to the root cause and then he does his magic. He is definitely not your average massage therapist. I just came from my 3rd session with Dillon. Some of the positives I've already seen are: +Dillon is a problem solver. His specialty is therapeutic massage. So for a guy like me who has both TMJD and various sports injuries, he works hard to fully understand the problem and then use his skills to treat it. With seeing Dillon regularly and regular accupuncture, I am now totally free of my TMJD symptoms, but continue to receive regular massage for maintenance. +Dillon's sliding scale makes regular massage possible for me, a school teacher on a limited budget. I really appreciate this! +Dillon cares. He's professional, timely, and astute. He's intuitive, checks in regularly as he is working, and is open to feedback. +His studio is no-frills, clean, and in a really great location that is very easy to get to and find free parking. I've never thought about getting massage therapy before, but I had been having a lot of shoulder tension so I decided to try Dillon's massage place. He's very professional and he helped me get the movement back in my neck and shoulders. He was also careful about my back injury (Torn spinal disk). I've been a client of Dillon's for 2-3 years now, and I highly recommend his services. I've had a lot of massage in the past, with a wide variety of practitioners and modalities, and I can say that Dillon is really effective, especially with tight, painful lower back issues. He is not only knowledgeable, but is also extremely sensitive to clients' requests. I've had a herneated disk and some sciatic issues, and Dillon has been sensitive to my injury while helping to loosen the muscles that tighen up around the injury. I started seeing Dillon in November 2008. I had a back injury that developed into a pinched nerve in my neck. My right arm had felt like it was asleep for two weeks. The pain was quite unbearable. After our first session I began getting some feeling back in my arm as well as, that night I got the best sleep in weeks. I had seen others who did nothing and one had even irritated the area. I had mentioned a recent injury and he was kind enough to work with my difficult schedule to get me in quickly. Best massage I've had in a longtime. From the moment I walked into his conveniently-located office, I could tell that I was in the hands of a professional. I had no trouble redeeming the amazon local voucher I was using! Dillon was courteous and thorough--assessing what my needs and expectations were before beginning. His massage studio, while no-frills, was clean and comfortable. His eclectic music playlist was a step above the usual massage studio music--no crickets chirping thank you very much! He checked in regularly about how much pressure he was using, but he seemed to know exactly how much was needed. Nice combination of different techniques--Swedish massage + stretching + deeper tissue work. Sometimes I get a little bored or antsy towards the end of a massage, but not this time--I never wanted it to end. In fact, I should have booked a 1.5 hour massage instead of the one hour. I should also note that my husband mentioned later in the evening that I looked more relaxed (and "younger!") after getting the massage from Dillon. :) My last groupon massage that I bought from a different Marin CMT was a disaster. Not so with Dillon--he was good or better than massages I've had at high-end spas for $150+. I would highly recommend him. Free two-hour street parking on B street (across from Safeway) just behind his studio was very convenient, but I think the parking lot might be an option too--I didn't have to investigate that. read more

This is the best massage I've had since I've been up in Northern California. Dillon is a seriously skilled massage therapist. He applied a combination of Swedish and deep tissue, using the perfect pressure (not too hard, not too soft) to straighten out my knots. He found knots I didn't even know I had, and managed to smooth them out. He also worked on my arthritic hands. My hands almost always hurt; it is just the nature of arthritis -- but Dillon got them to the point where I felt absolutely no pain. Still don't, as of this writing. What brought me to him was a combination of an Amazon local certificate and the referral of a friend with impeccible taste. Don't despair if you do not reach him immediately. He's pretty busy, but he really does call you back! Do yourself a favor and book an appointment with this well-trained, hard-working massage therapist. i rarely post on yelp for good OR bad, but i needed to post this... not because dillon isn't good (i'll never know), but because dillon didn't honor his agreements (he's actually the THIRD marin massage therapist who signed up for amazon local services/deals & chose not to honor the "deal"). i had purchased an amazon-local voucher for a massage by dillon & realized that it was almost expired. i called dillon 3 days before the expiration to make my appointment & he told me he was booked for the next 2-3 days, thru the voucher's expiration date & therefore was unable/unwilling to honor the deal i'd purchased. i called amazon to double-check policy & that's not the way it's supposed to work. amazon says as long as you contact the vendor before the voucher expires, it should be honored... so i got a refund & never saw him. not honoring your agreements is a strange way to participate in a (voluntary) program designed to bring in new business. read more

As a massage therapy student it's difficult to find the time to GET a massage. Thankfully Dillon had a promotional offer going on when I had free time. His knowledge in the field helped ease a lot of aches and pains I get from giving massage, aerial silks, sword fighting, and my day job. A groupon success story! I came to Dillon via a groupon deal but am now a devoted monthly customer! I originally purchased the deal for just a good massage but between buying the groupon and visiting his San Rafael studio, I injured my back. Dillon knew exactly where to go to find the source of my discomfort and definitely knew what to do to alleviate the pain. He is quite well versed on the musculature and the massage was both therapeutic and relaxing. He is professional and organized and I have been back many times since my groupon was redeemed. I've been going to Dillon going on 2 years now. He is extremely knowledgable, professional, empathic, and communicative. He is attentive to his clients needs every visit asking about any trouble spots, but not to worry, even if you don't know what's what, he'll find them like a bloodhound looking for a truffle in the french countryside. His expertise is particularly in neck and back deep tissue techniques, however as a cyclist with my own unique injury history, my issues are usually in the legs, hips, and glutes. Over the time he's been working on me, he really has learned a lot about cyclist specific issues. Because it's deep tissue, it's not always the most comfortable experience in the moment, but it's extremely effective. He always encourages feedback, works hard to create a relaxing ambiance, his studio is always clean, he's always, ALWAYS hygienic, and makes sure you hydrate whether you're coming or going. His pricing is extremely fair, especially for Marin, which has made it cost effective to see Dillon on a regular basis, which is huge. I notice that getting massage regularly, my muscles are more supple and receptive to massage. If I take a break for more than a few weeks, it's like starting over. I'd personally like to see Dillon incorporating other techniques like cupping, but he knows what he does best, and sticks to that. Ultimately it's preferable to be the best at what you do. read more

I saw Dillon for my super tight lower back muscles. He suggested I get a deep tissue massage just on my back for the hour. I took advantage of his two for one offer here on Yelp so the price was right. Next time my back gets tight, I will go to Dillon right away. He loosened the muscles on the first secession. He had me return in 4 days at which time I told him my lower back was still aching each day. He worked on that problem spot and the aching stopped. I was very impressed by Dillon. He was very professional and accomodating. When I first came in he asked about adjusting the lights and the music, I've never had a masseuse ask me about that those things. He definitely did a good job of focusing on the spots that were particularly bothersome to me; he spent more of his time on them while other masseuses have not. Afterward he was concerned if I would feel any pain so he would know if he had applied too much pressure which I've also never had a masseuses ask and once again showed his williness to accomodate me and professionalism. I snagged an amazon local deal and went for a massage with Dillon today. It was, in a word, spectacular. I didn't realize how bad off my neck was until after the massage. Before, I had limited movement in my neck, and now I can move it about as far as an owl--on both sides! Not to mention the massage felt AMAZING. Not like some deep tissue I've had that hurt and don't make much difference in the end.
