Stuffed eggplant (I'm going to crave this for the rest of my life) and barbecue pork dumpling
    Karley B.

I like to have new experiences for my birthday. One year we went to blow glass. This year we had dimsum. It was hilarious because none of us knew what we were doing. There were about 8 of us, so we all ordered what appealed to us and shared via the big lazy susan in the middle of our table. And boy did we order... when the waitress started delivering our food to the table, I thought it would never end. Here's what I can remember: HONG KONG STICKY RICE (Comforting blend of glutinous rice, sausage, chicken, and mushrooms encased in lotus leaf): Our friend Aimee said that she had always wanted to try something wrapped in a leaf. She was delighted by this. DEEP FRIED SESAME BALL (Golden, crispy shell covered in sesame seeds encases a sweet, chewy filling of red bean paste) I was hoping that our 7-year-old friend would like these. He did not. He didn't like much, but truthfully, I've known that kid for over a year and I don't think I have ever seen him eat more than three bites of anything at a time. I quite liked these though. STUFFED EGGPLANT (Lightly fried tender eggplant stuffed with flavorful shrimp paste served with savory sauce) Apparently I'm the only person in our group who likes eggplant, so I got all three of these. And I LOVED them. The shrimp paste reminded me of shrimp toast. The eggplant was so tender it melted in my mouth. It was glorious. I would definitely order these again. BAKED BBQ PORK PUFF (Flaky pastry encases tender, flavorful BBQ pork) We ordered these when they ran out of the BBQ rolls, and they were equally delicious. That BBQ pork filling is sweet and moreish. BAKED EGG TART (Flaky, buttery crust filled with smooth, creamy egg custard) Now some of our group understands where egg custard snowballs come from... inspired by the creamy filling in these tarts. So great!! BAKED BBQ PORK BUNS (Soft and fluffy buns filled with a savory and slightly sweet BBQ pork mixture) The restaurant only had one serving of these (which are magnificent) so we ended up ordering three different barbecued pork dumplings including STEAMED PORK BUNS (Tender and fluffy buns filled with a flavorful and savory pork filling). ALL are worth ordering again CHARCOAL & EGG YOLK BUNS (Soft and fluffy bun filled with rich and creamy egg yolk custard) beautiful and amazing. The yolk burst out of the dumpling, like a good egg over easy. I'm the only one who ate these. I think their black color was a bit scary for the others. HONG KONG ROASTED DUCK (Succulent and flavorful Roasted Duck with crispy skin and tender meat). I have duck for my birthday every year. This year I only had a taste because I was so excited to taste the dumplings and such. The duck is lovely, of course. Great cook on the skin. HONEY GLAZED BBQ PORK (Tender slices of pork glazed with sweet and savory honey sauce). Oh yes. Glorious There was also some kind of beef with wide noodles that reminded me of drunken noodles. I wasn't a fan of that. Jeremy had three bowls of egg drop soup, but I found it bland. I've always been a hot and sour girl, myself. We took home so many leftovers. I'm still unpacking the bags and discovering items I hadn't previously tasted, such as walnut shrimp. I'm taking a star off because their soda machine was down, so I had water. The rest of the table had bubble teas or fruity tea. The restaurant was fairly empty at 7pm on a Friday night. The service was flawless. I had a great time. I think the rest of our party also enjoyed the meal and the company. I would totally recommend DimSum Palace.

I never write bad reviews. But this is just the worst experience ive ever had. We came in to eat and food taste good. Next thing you know. We realize that that pork sui mai we ate was completely raw inside. We asked to see the manager. He came out and no apology. Not even a little apologetic. Switched out the plate. And we explained one of us already ate it. He asked why we didnt spit it out???????? We come to a restaurant to eat, we dont expect it to be raw. We already swallowed the food! He then asked what we want him to do???? Eating raw pork can cause serious food poisoning. He then said well if she does get sick then send us the bill... the way he handled the situation left us really upset.

The restaurant surprised me with its beautiful dining room and authentic menu. We went for dimsum cart on weekend. They have huge menu of dim sum (small plates), so many delicious dish options to choose from. Dining room is very clean. You can definitely gather to celebrate any special occasion. Excellent, service and very quick. I would love to visit to try out other dish.

One of the better dim sum places in Maryland. This place was excellent. Very big menu. Came in during the week at lunch time to avoid the weekend rush. Plenty of parking and easy to find. Got sat at our table quickly and the dim sum carts started to come around. FYI there are some menu items not on the carts so you just have to let the staff know and they will bring it out to you. The service here was super fast and attentive, makes sense as they come around steadily with the dim sum carts. The food was authentic and fresh. Coming out hot and smelling delicious. My dim sum classic favorites hargow and shumai here were excellent. Super meaty with big shrimp and pork fillings. Their other items were all good. I really like the sesame balls, pineapple bun, and Portuguese tarts. Rice rolls were also good. Will definitely be back and I wild totally recommend this place if you want to try authentic dim sum.

Came here for some dim sum... This is a relatively new dim sum restaurant along Route 40 in Catonsville. We decided to stop by for a dim sum early dinner. We were greeted by a pleasant man and taken to our seat. The restaurant was an open concept and clean with pleasant staff ready to take our order. We got the crystal shrimp, seafood sui mai, and baked barbecue buns; the Hong Kong pan fried noodles and the steamed pork ribs. The crystal shrimp dumpling was fresh and tasty, covered with a clear dumpling wrapper. The seafood sui mai was loaded with shrimp, scallops, and crabmeat in a dumpling dough that was really good. The star of this party was the baked barbecue pork buns. Baked golden brown buns encased around a pulled pork barbecue filling with a hint of sweetness, (*chef's kiss). Now the items that were definitely a miss: the steam pork ribs were no more than a mound of riblet bones with a bunch of cartilage, little meat, and taro, which I wasn't prepared for as the stark contract in texture from the pork ribs to the mushy taro was not to our liking. The Hong Kong style pan noodles were the most expensive item we ordered ($11.99) and a HUGE disappointment. The noodles arrived with little veggies and no meat, I would advise to not order these two items and, if you just want dim sum, concentrate on those amazing menu items. All in all, with the exception of the noodles and pork ribs, we are going back to check out more of the extensive dim sum offerings!

10/10 experience! We came on a Saturday around 11:30am. There was a 25 minute wait for a table for 3. The restaurant was clean, waiters were friendly and the food was delicious! Our favorites were the chicken feet, shrimp dumplings and the bean curd skin rolls. I cannot wait to come back to try more of their menu! The portions were good as well.

Overall: delicious dim sum, quick service, relatively casual ambiance We got there on a Sunday before it opened and the line had already started. We got seated for the first service, ate our fill, and were out the door in 45 minutes which was lovely when eating out with 2 kids 3 and under. The service was fast and almost everything was delicious. The stuffed eggplant was the highlight for me, but i also loved the pork buns and the egg tart. The only thing i wouldn't get again was the short rib, which was very tough and chewy. It was confusing to tell what would come on which cart and what had to be ordered separately, but I'm sure we will learn because we will definitely be back.

summary: a "classic" dim sum experience where they walk around with carts and mark a paper order sheet as you eat. It gets packed pretty quickly, so I'd recommend getting their ahead of time if you're not trying to wait. The food is delicious and the dim sum experience is always a fun one if you've never tried before. Context: my family and I went on a Sunday morning at 10:50 and there was already a line coming out of the door (they open at 11). You should definitely get there ahead of time if you're trying to meet a party. I believe their restaurant policy is that they don't let you be seated unless at least half your party is present. The ambiance does get a little bit hectic because the restaurant is so busy so early, but that's also kind of part of the whole dim sum experience. Mostly everything was very delicious and fresh. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the black pepper short rib where the meat was a bit chewy. Otherwise, no complaints about the food. The service is a bit spotty mainly because there's so many people there and how busy it was, so I would try to ask for things in advance if possible. To clarify, it wasn't anything bad. Just ask for things like refills or napkins ahead of time. All in all, it was a delicious meal with a fun experience and we'll definitely be back again.

Was in town for 2 days, friend took me here right before my flight. Dim sum were solid, har gau, siu Mai, tripes. What impressed me the most is their char siu, it's one of the best I have ever had, considered I'm from Los Angeles and spend 15 years living in Hong Kong. Service was top notch too.

Solid pork buns (steamed and baked) and sesame buns. My husband also enjoyed the shrimp options. My one negative with this place was that a lot of the pork (non bun) options also contained shrimp which I don't eat. So I had fairly limited options of items to enjoy. That said, everything came out fresh and hot.

Had a quick lunch and it didn't disappoint! So many folks had the same idea for a random time on a Thursday afternoon. I came back for the tasty Black Truffle Shrimp dumplings and chicken feet. Also tried a new fish soup which tasted super fresh! The salt & pepper calamari dish will ALWAYS be a show-stopper, so order it ASAP to get your meal started here. Customer service was very attentive and suggested complimentary dim sum to go with what we already ordered. The ambiance is light and airy as usual, a nice cool respite from a hot day! Make your way there any time of the week, you won't be disappointed!

5/5!! No, 10 out of 5!!!! I could give this place all the stars if I could :) My husband and I have been wanting to try Dimsum Palace for the longest time, and we finally had the courage to take our 8 month old to do lunch here. The entire experience from start to finish was SO amazing. I cannot stop raving about this place. 1. Ambiance: Spacious and clean. It's very casual and nothing fancy. But I loved how clean they keep the place. They use disposable table cloths and change it every time a new group dines. Really appreciated that especially given we are more health- and germ- conscious post COVID. 2. Service: Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding. Everyone was so understanding and accommodating. They offered a booster seat before we asked for one (FYI - SUPER CLEAN. I've seen some nasty ones), got my kid a plastic plate and a spoon, even a separate to go water cup with a lid and a straw. It's not easy dining out with a little kid, especially when we feel unwelcome. But everyone at Dimsum palace were so nice and supportive.. it almost made me tear up a little. 3. Food!!! OMG. The BEST dimsum I've had in a WHILE. My go-to in the DMV area is China Garden Hangong, but Dimsum Palace offered HUGE dimsums (almost felt jumbo sized) with comparable / better taste. I think I found my new go-to dimsum place!! All in all, this was one of the best dining out experience I have had in a while. Thank you for making our day! We will certainly be back :)

Ask the Community - Dimsum Palace

    Are there carts Saturday evening?

Lunchtime carts daily, dinnertime menu dim sum only so it can be made to order. Delicious either way; I've been to both!

Do they have the carts on weekdays, or just on weekends?

First time I went was on a Friday and there were carts (to be fair, it was Friday of Labor Day weekend, so maybe that was a special change).

We had a 7:00 PM reservation for seven -- planned largely around my son's birthday request and his love of Dim Sum. Unfortunately, Dim Sum isn't available on Tuesday nights, which was a minor disappointment since our previous Sunday visit gave us the full Dim Sum experience. We shifted to ordering family-style and were genuinely pleased with the meal. The Moo Shu Pork, Peking Duck, Chicken Fried Rice, Mápó Dòufu, and Bok Choy were all flavorful and well-prepared. Everything came with won ton soup and tea, which was a nice touch and added to the overall experience. The atmosphere feels authentic and comfortable, and the staff was friendly throughout the evening. The manager tried to steer us toward several suggested dishes -- it was a bit unclear whether this was purely helpful guidance or an effort to highlight readily available items -- but we appreciated the input and did enjoy the bok choy recommendation. Pricing was reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Overall, despite the Dim Sum surprise, it was an enjoyable and satisfying dinner. We would absolutely return -- just on a weekend next time for Dim Sum.

We arrived for Friday $35 endless dim sum brunch, and the Host did not know who we were even though I had spoken with him today before, and I remembered his voice. So not a good start. We were sat upstairs, and we sat there for probably 20 minutes easy before we were even offered a beverage. It was when they first opened, but I would expect you to have staff ready. The hits just kept coming... The ambience downstairs was beautiful, but the ambience where we were sat was just lifeless. It didn't have the same punch. After we ordered some drinks, we decided on what we wanted from the menu. Some things were hit or miss, once they arrived to the table. The soup dumplings were just OK, but I guess I have really high expectations for that coming from NYC. The chicken lo mein wasn't bad per se, the veggie dumplings were delicious, the pork buns were well sauced. Some things I didn't like included the Szechuan beef, it lacked depth, and it was just too hot for my friends to eat. They really loved the fried rice and the sesame red bean balls. The scallion pancake everyone raved about was mid at best. I loved the curry sauce it came with, but it just was a mess to eat. The braised pork belly rolls were lovely, as was the cucumber salad, and the spring rolls. The Mongolian beef and the walnut dumplings were OK but nothing to write about beyond that they were basically flavorless. The cocktails were so so, but nothing that screamed for me to order another. The one highlight I will say is that they did come back to ask as if we wanted anything else multiple times. So I'm glad that they followed up on whether we want more food because some places just leave you be once they drop off. Maybe I'd give them another chance, but the answer is probably no... who knows. It was just generic, and imagining paying the prices that they had for not a $35 dim sum brunch per person, seemed egregious to me for such utterly mediocre food. So I guess I'm glad I came out on a Friday morning.

The, I assume manager or owner came up to the table and told me I'm required to tip 18 percent. I said where does it say that? He says on the receipt. I told him that says suggestions not required and that I could give him 0 tip. He proceeds to make a huge scene about the 2 extra bucks I need to pay. I finally cave because my friends were very very uncomfortable. As we leave my friend said the guy was a talking shit in Vietnamese to his employees about us. My recommendation is to go somewhere else. This was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had and all over 2 dollars that they didn't deserve. I see why they have a low yelp review.

At the start of the switch, the food was still delicious and flavorful. Now, it is overpriced, tiny, and not good. As someone that used to come often, I can tell they've switched their recipes and it's not good. Some of the dim sum was normally priced but still lacked flavor and freshness they used to have. Some dim sum was completely overpriced and the portions were like three bites. Very disappointed to see they changed the recipe because some dishes are not traditional dim sum anymore. The service used to be great too but now they don't care as much. I asked for water multiple times and sauce but they just kept saying it was coming. Some of the nicest people worked there but i'm not sure if they still work there or they're gone but they weren't there during my visit. Unfortunately, I don't think i'll be coming back. From the food to the prices to even the cleanliness, it's a no go. There were stains all over and even on the chairs and the table. The stains on the table were there before we started eating. Disappointed at how bad this place has become :(
