A friend of mine in Viet Nam posted a picture of the Ding Tea he got over there so I was stoked to see it here. I wasn't sure if it was authentic, because it said it says it's a Taiwanese tea house when it's right in the heart of Little Saigon, so I was hesitant for a while until I decided to just go. I ordered the signature milk tea with golden boba. There was nothing special about the tea... It was just alright. However, the boba was really soft and yummy, with great consistency. But what's good boba without good tea? I'm not sure if this is how Taiwanese tea tastes like, but this store is definitely owned by Vietnamese people because all the workers are Vietnamese, thus the authenticity is questionable. read more

Went here on a empty Wednesday night and ordered their Hokkaido plus green milk tea. Got large 50cent more and with boba 50 cent more on each drinks which adds up to about 4.25 each drink. Honestly the hokkaido tasted like coffee really bland. The boba was not cooked long enough so the inside was really hard and chewy unless you like it. I like mine a bit softer and chewy and not hard. The green milk tea honestly tasted like powder like he told me that it was going to be powder based. Was expecting a lot more or a least a more refreshing drink. But in return I just got some average drink that was not that great. The server overall was nice trying to help me make a decision on which drink to get and I got my drink in around 4min since there was no one else there. I came here on late on Saturday and the place was popping. Given that it was a small shop (max capacity 16 people...seriously), it was cozy on a winter night. My friend ordered the Hokkaido Coffee, and I went for the Signature Milk Tea. The milk tea tasted really smooth, and the boba is probably the softest I've had in a while. I'd come back again to try their other stuff. I got a jasmine green milk tea, half sweet and hot. I was way too full to drink it when I ordered it (we came right after having AYCE KBBQ for 2 hours), but it was a really nice way to start my early morning the next day. It was pretty floral and not very sweet; a little too floral for me, but I was fine with the sweetness level because I had it so early in the morning. I did add some vanilla soy milk to try to temper the floral jasmine-ness, and that worked well. Three stars. read more

The only thing worth getting here is the hot longan tea with grass jelly. That's a 4 star drink. This is the only place where you can get it and its really yummy. I tried all of their popular cold milk teas and they suck. I am really not into their golden boba either. Not sure why people like it. Got to try the new boba place today and I was a little disappointed. Having a 30 minutes lunch, it was extremely important that the drinks were fast.... instead it took 20 minutes! There was only 1 customer in front of me and I watched anxiously as they messed up my order. While sitting and waiting, I watched the two workers make the drinks and spilling the orders again and again, I couldn't watch after the second time... I already knew my order will have some little hiccup. I specifically ordered slight sweetener (1/3 sweetened) and no ice but it was regularly sweetened and had ice. There was no time to get my drink redone so I accepted the drinks from the sweet worker and carried on. I ordered the signature tea with the golden boba, but my favorite drink is the jasmine milk tea and it's not so good here. The prices are fair and the teas are fresh! I usually come to Dingtea 1-2 times every week. The drink that I mostly get is Peach Milk Tea. Obviously, I know exactly about the taste so I can realize the difference. I realized that there was something wrong recently where the drink doesn't have much Peach flavor in it but something like sugar water and sometimes coffee smell left. I got the horrible taste like that once too, but I thought it might be just me. This place used to be my favorite, but the two times tasting horrible drinks just get me disappointed. There are so many good boba places around the area but sadly, this isn't one of them. I ordered the Signature Milk Tea with LESS sugar because I wanted to taste more of the tea. He questioned me about the sugar level and I emphasized clearly that I only wanted 70% of the sweetness. When I got the drink and took the first sip expecting some decent quality, it fell short. IT TASTED LIKE WATER. I've had average drinks but this was by far the worst. When I looked at my cup, I realized that the cashier got my order wrong... "30% slightly sweetened." Okay, fine. But considering how it is tea, shouldn't I taste a bit of it? Not at all. I tried my sister's Jasmine Milk Tea with half of the sugar and even then, it didn't have the quality taste. Do yourself a favor and refrain from ordering the boba with your drinks. The pearls were so hard that I had to throw them all away. The tea and pudding, however, are excellent with the right sweetness and good pudding texture. I love boba shops, so when I heard of DingTea I thought it was worthy of trying. When I came there was a medium line and I waited about 5 minutes to take my order. While in line I saw a sign that said capacity of 16 persons maximum however, my sister counted and there were 26 people in the shop excluding the two workers. They should put smaller tables so more parties can sit together. But I did love their festive decor. My friend had recommended the honey green tea with golden boba. I got my drink after waiting 30+ minutes because it became poppin in the store. Ideally, the shops should have three workers to clean tables and accommodate to more orders. I took a sip and it was sweeter than I prefer. I even asked for less sweetness. I would go here again when there are less people. read more

The drinks are great! Our party order 1 item from each drink category and it was across the board delicious and refreshing. Lots of authentic and unique drinks that isn't serve anywhere else in OC. We literally come here 4-5 times a week!! Probably too much boba, but hey it's so damn good!! It's usually always busy but the people are super cool and get drinks out pretty quick considering how many they are making. I'm a huge boba fan and have tried multiple places in Irvine and Westminster/Garden Grove. I keep coming back to Dingtea for their flavorful egg pudding and golden boba. My favorite milk tea flavors are Signature Milk Tea (tasted kind of like Thai tea, but more floral tea flavor) and the Jasmine Green Milk Tea. Compared to other boba places like Tebo Tebo, I think $4.05 for a large milk tea including boba is a great price. I hate paying over $5 for boba nowadays.. read more
