I've moved near Fontana only a couple of weeks ago and I've been to this place at least 5 times already! Their brown sugar milk tea is the best boba drink I've ever had. My apologies for not getting the worker's names but I am usually greeted by a light skinned girl with curly hair and she is the nicest person ever. She always has a positive attitude (even when it gets hectic and busy). I love the setup of the store as well. They keep it clean and it has some cute photo areas. The personalized touch like the decorations specific to the season and art boards are really cool to see. Ding Tea is a very popular boba store that has been popping up in every city within a 30 mile radius of my home. There aren't a lot of options for boba in Fontana which makes this boba shop really stand out. It's located across from the Kaiser medical center and inside the same plaza as Taco Bell. The sign can be hard to see because its black and I'm not sure if it lights up at night but if it doesn't I could imagine it being very difficult to find. Moving onto the drinks, I have tried some of their drinks from other locations since it is a chain. My go-to is the kiwi green tea and my favorite topping is their golden boba which is slightly sweet and balanced out the sour taste from the tea. My friend got the lychee green tea with coconut jelly and she loved it. Shout out to the employee who let my friend sample the jelly. I personally thought the lychee green tea was pretty good too and I would recommend it to first timers since it's a safe choice. As a disclaimer, not all Ding Teas are consistent with other locations but I thought this one was pretty decent. The venue is very small and has the typical aesthetic charm which I never understood from a place called Ding Tea. Overall, I'm glad Fontana finally has a decent boba place. Potentially 4-stars but they falsely advertised the dates of a promotion on their Instagram that they didn't even honor. They HAD a promotion for 30% off the entire purchase on Instagram from May 22-May 29 so I drove out of my way to go to this specific location. This was my second visit to this location and the first was okay. I ordered a winter melon milk tea and it was served at room temperature because they use hot water to dissolve the creamer which diluted the drink and wasn't cold. They honored their discount during this visit. I came today (5/28) and asked the cashier if the promotion was still going on and she said no even when I mentioned the Instagram post said it expires tomorrow. I continued to order my drinks anyways even though the discount was not applied. My drink this time was overly sweet and filled with ice. It just annoying that they promote something that they don't even honor. I come here every 2-3 days and order 3-5 large drinks for the household. We're boba fiends. Their drinks are decent but usually on the sweeter end so I usually get everything at half sweetness. I like to mix/add flavors to enhance the drink to my liking. In which I wouldn't even mind paying extra. On their wall they have the word "Custom" under one of their slush images which I understand as saying that they can customize your drinks/slushes. Here's the kicker, half the staff is willing to accommodate my request, half the staff won't whilst making up invalid excuses. I enjoy their hokkaido coffee slush. And we all know that adding chocolate to coffee is delicious, such as Starbuck's many chocolate flavored frap options. So I've come to learn that the only chocolate Ding Tea offers is in the form of mocha powder. I've had it added to the hokkaido coffee slush on a good handful of visits. There were two visits where one of the staff was skeptical but did it anyways. Bare in mind the consistency was good and it was delicious! I had just left today ordering two drinks to accompany for dinner, one of which was the hokkaido coffee slush with added chocolate powder, and I wanted to add their hazelnut syrup as well to try to see if it would taste like a Ferrero Rocher Frap. The staff today refused to accommodate stating "we dont know how it would taste, if it would be good". I responded by letting them know its something I've ordered before, and I would be the one drinking it, not them. I KNOW ITS GOOD. They proceeded to tell me that it would be too sweet cause it would double the syrup, to which I reply by telling them to do the same total amount of syrup, just half caramel half hazelnut. (common sense) In which all 3 ladies proceed to talk amongst themselves about how to do it, as if this request was extremely difficult to accomplish. How does one proportion 2 syrups down to 1 serving of both syrup? I guess they would need to graduate college first to figure that one out... They countered argued by saying that the mocha powder would mess with the consistency of the slush, to which I responded, "I've had this drink made before, the consistency is fine". Which they refuted again that the consistency or flavor would be "off". Then told me that they don't know who made it for me before but they aren't "suppose to". So I just ended up ordering their hokkaido coffee slush with no changes because it was obvious that they would rather go out of their way to argue with me than to actually want to add pennies worth of mocha powder/syrup to my order. HERE'S KICKER NUMBER 2!! They effed up the consistency of the hokkaido coffee slush!! I got home to find that it wasn't even fully blended. Pieces of ice couldn't fit through the boba straw. It felt like a iced coffee with tiny crushed ice instead of a slush. The consistency, in which they used as their argument, was better every other time I had mocha powder added! This was the first time I've had a slush from here where the consistency was messed up. Makes me think she did it on purpose. So if you're the owner reading this, I ask, does this location offer customizations for drinks or not? Cause the inconsistency is extremely annoying. Especially when it's blatantly obvious your staff is either too scared to try custom orders, or too lazy to accommodate the efforts of scooping from one extra canister. -------------------------------------------- Edit: business owner replies to review but doesn't contact me directly so no way of getting back to him privately.‍. Anyways his response is just as contradicting as his staff was on different days. Says "we advise staff to NOT do custom flavors." Then proceeds to tell me they can do a customization I wanted. And that "staff will be accommodating." Basically back to square one. Hit or miss depending on who's working? Best staff in the area is a bold statement considering you're not all on the same page. You're not even on the same page in your own reply. I grew up in 626 where you can find boba within a 5 minute drive anywhere. This is the only time I've came across staff that's so unsure about how to make drinks. Then fight me on it. Sorry but I'll just be driving an extra mile to go make orders from the many other boba spots in the area. Been to the Ding Tea in Alhambra, El Monte, Arcadia, West Covina, and Riverside. Sometimes the boba shops can be confusing to order at, but Ding Tea has got it down! Super easy to order here. I recommend turning the air conditioner on more because this location is right in the sun and has lots of windows, so it gets hot easily. However, this location was dead for the 30-40 minutes I was there. I decided to play it safe and go with a simple Thai Milk Tea, because you can't mess that up, right? WRONG. My drink was so flavorless, it almost tasted like straight milk. The service was just as mediocre as the drink was. There was not a drop of enthusiasm in the cashiers voice. The aesthetics consisted of a flower wall with a sign that hangs "Good Vibes Only", but that was the opposite of what was there. Because of this stay at home order I'm not driving to Corona, so I googled Bobas in Fontana. This place has a four and a half rating on google so I thought I'd give it a shot. Currently they are only accepting call ins or grub hub. I called in my order and the guy said it would be five minutes. I was ten minutes out but oh well. I arrived and my order wasnt ready or started. I repeated my order, paid and sat to wait. The place is very bright and has a fresh look. The young lady that helped me was very nice and friendly. I ordered taro tea and a milk tea both with boba. I was super worried that the boba would be hard, but figured that if it was, I just wouldn't come back.
