The food at Dinos is spot on I will say. My husband and I came in the other night and grab a seat at the bar and we enjoyed ourselves to a couple drinks. The bartender was super friendly but couldn't seem to stay off his phone. Whenever we looked over he was sitting in a high chair texting away. I'm a very busy woman and I am also on my phone very much but when you have a line full of customers sitting at a bar right in front of you it is just flat out disrespectful and unprofessional to pay most of your attention to your telephone. I had a very tasty fish and french fries with coleslaw for the lunch special today. Everything was freshly prepared, hot and very tasty! The fries that accompanied the slab were crisp and salted well. I ordered a side Cesar but the sauce was more Italian/Vinaigrette than anything close to cesar. The iceberg was drenched... SWIMMING in dressing. I didn't bother asking our server to take it back because she was so sweet and frankly, I'm a baller like that--I make it rain, I make it RAIN! Anyways, I brushed aside the excess and took a few bites... I finished about 15% of the salad before the ratio of 100:1 dressing:lettuce was unavoidable All in all Dino's is a good dining experience ONCE in a while... Some of the finest Italian food I have consumed. My wife and I went for an early dinner. The restaurant was clean and the service was awesome. I had wedding soup as an appetizer. It was absolutely delicious. Both my wife and I enjoyed the fresh baked bread and the salad was fresh and delicious. My wife had Angel Hair Pesto pasta with chicken and I had a combo plate with Lasagna and Chicken Parmigiana. Big portions of some of the best Italian we have ever had! My family and I have been going here since I was little. We have even had many family parties here throughout the years! I have never gotten a bad meal here. Some of my favorites are the stuffed shrimp over linguini and the eggplant parm. My family has ordered probably almost everything off of the menu! My understanding that Dino's is a landmark of Mentor area. Went to lunch with a friend from the area to discuss motorcycle trips for next year. He told me that this place was probably a patronized by the local Goodfellas. Danny Greene died not too far from the site. I walk in this place and it is not that impressive. It reminds me more of someone's dining room just bigger. The décor seems more 1970s or 80s. It not totally divey but borderline. I am surprised that they do not have larger tables because this is definitely a family place. The confusing thing this place was not packed for a Friday lunch. I ordered the chicken parmigiana sandwich and fries. The lunch specials were pretty good. All you can eat fish fry, cole slaw, and fries. Also a buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. Both of the choices sounded good but when in Rome do as Romans do. Why would I eat fish and buffalo chicken in a place who is known for their Italian. My friend ordered the fish and it look delicious. It wasn't greasy. Unless you have a very hearty appetite I do not know how you could have another serving. The first one was large and if you eat the slaw and fries it is a meal. The chicken parmigiana was awesome. The chicken was nice and thick. But really the marinara was what set it off. The mozzarella was nice and melty. Definitely would have ordered that again. If it wasn't going back to work I would have ordered the lasagna. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food for lunch. I am going to have to go back and have dinner to try the veal, lasagna, and chicken Marsala. You definitely cannot judge a book by its cover. I would have driven by based on the outside appearance. Walking in you would not be all that impressed. Don't fool yourself with a lot of these wannabe Italian restaurants this is the real deal. I've been eating here about 29 years and the food is the same quality. I don't live on the East side no more but I traveled 45 mins to enjoy this goodness. The inside is casual and cozy with the old school charm a mixture of old and new which makes it appealing to the folks that use the term dated . Very nice simple restaurant with great food ! I must say my personal favorite is the Veal Parm, and the sausage and peppers for an appetizer. The chicken Piccata is to die for. Also the pizza is excellent, and the Spaghetti and meatballs with a nice house salad with cheese with their house made Italian dressing. Pasta is homemade and they provide catering for any occasion! Fabulous! The rolls are addictive. The wedding soup was the best ever anywhere. My husband got Cavatelli with marinara which he said was good. I got a chicken parmigiana & chicken piccata combination. It was served on a platter with a side of spaghetti. Enough for at least 2 meals. The food was great however the parmigiana was cold. The server took it back then came back with the piccata on a separate plate & said they were remaking the parmigiana. When she brought the parmigiana back out there was fresh piccata too. Also, ordered the spinach artichoke dip and stuffed hot peppers. The food was ready at the time they said and hot when I returned home. The salad was fresh as always. As always the rolls were cooked to perfection and fresh. The chicken parmigiana was juicy and tender. The stuffed hot peppers had a nice heat to them and we're delicious as well. Contrary to a lot of the negative reviews regarding service here, the waitress was ok enough. We got drink refills fast enough. We were seated smack dab in the middle of the bar right next to a speaker (two adults, two kids). The restaurant was basically empty. First mistake. The cheeseburger bun was toasted SOLID. I mean it looked BURNT and could have hurt someone if thrown the correct way.....again the restaurant was all but empty....not busy. The fettuccini alfredo was actually spat out it was so gross. Another tried it and found the same displeasure. Disgusting. Watery. Not alfredo. The chicken marsala was just below ok. I ate that and didn't die...let's put it that way. Eff this place. Wow, I was pleasantly surprised by this place! I ordered carryout--a meatball sub and a chicken Parmesan sub. The food wasn't ready so I had a drink at the bar. This place is so completely old school I loved it. Lots of elderly people, the leather wraparound bar stools, and an extensive menu. The food was solid. I hope to God they make their red sauce in house because it might be the best sauce I have tasted in Cleveland. Excellence!!! I'm based in Seattle where excellent/inexpensive Italian food is as rare a sunny day in February, therefore, this Cleveland gem was a true treat! From the family atmosphere to the homemade marinara, Dino's was IT!!! I got the Chicken Parm sub, which is as hard to find in Seattle as a good Mayoral decision! The sub came with delicately thin breaded slices of tender chicken carved with the alacrity of a chisel wielded by Michaelangelo himself. What happened? I have been eating here my whole life and it just getting worse. Eggplant is a pile of mush, there is such little sauce in the take out its difficult to understand, there is so little cheese on top and it seems melted instead of under the broiler, the cavatelli was far too over cooked. This is my go to Italian restaurant. The only reason I'm not giving them five stars is their atmosphere. It's a small family owned ordeal so it's comfortable but bland. I have been here numerous times and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. The chicken piccata should not be missed but I will say that if you don't eat it right away it can get soggy but it's still awesome even then. They also have some of the best lasagne and chicken parm around. The best deal is to get a combination dinner for around $16 and you can choose two entrees at a slightly reduced portion size (i.e: 2 pieces of chicken piccata instead of 3) but it still comes with a side of penne, a salad and roll PLUS your other entree. Don't let the negative reviews you see here thwart you from going to Dino's. You don't go to Dino's for a steak sandwich or a fish fry, you go for the Italian food. Dino's has the best Italian Wedding Soup, I honestly can't think of anywhere else that competes. Their sauce is delicious, and any plate with meat (Chicken/Veal Parm) comes in big helpings. Everything is reasonably priced and the service is personable and welcoming. One other thing - there's just something about the dinner rolls. Not sure what has happened here but it was the worst meal we have ever had - my husband will eat anything and even he threw his meal out - Dino's was always our "go to" place but no more - we have not been in a while since COVID and things have really changed - the salad was old and lettuce was brown; the spaghetti and sausage dinner had a very strange/awful taste and the usually wonderful pizza was gross - this was a to go order and was $ 42 - should have gone to Burger King and save some money - yuck! read more

I was planning my dad's birthday dinner and out of all the restaurants in Cleveland area, he chose Dino's! I was a bit surprised, hadn't been to this location in quite some time, but it was still VERY good all these years later. I had the Chicken Marsala with side of spaghetti - love the sauce, everything was delicious. My dad got the steak and shrimp scampi special which he really enjoyed. Eggplant parmesan and chicken piccata are also very good. Prices are reasonable for the portions you get. The dining area is small, but they also have a small bar on other side that offers seating as well. It's very cozy in there. Waitress and hostess were very friendly. Great little hole in the wall spot. Was the first of a group to arrive for dinner so I parked it at the ample bar space, which is to the left when you walk in. I ordered the house Cabernet and sat next to a lovely couple that highly recommended the chicken piccata as well as the homemade cavatelli. They come here once a week and live about 20 miles away but raved about the quality of food. The group arrived and we sat in the dining area as opposed to the bar. This side was sparse for a Tuesday night but the bar was fairly full (including booths). I ordered the salmon with the homemade cavatelli. Portions were sizeable and the quality was fairly good. Others in the group ordered the chicken piccata and shrimp scampi. They left with clean plates. The real winner here was the chocolate ho-ho cake. That is: a light chocolate cake with a riccotta(?) style cream layer at the bottom, topped with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. Delicious. I was really excited to try this place. I'm not sure quite why this place has such good reviews. The food was subpar at best. Meatballs tasted like mush. My son got spaghetti and meatballs, I got lasagna and my daughter got pesto chicken. The sauce was too sweet in the spaghetti and lasagna. My son could not eat the sauce it gave him a stomach ache. It took a long time for the food to even come out. When it did I had to return my daughters pesto pasta dish cause the chicken was so over done it was burnt. It was the first time we even came. I don't think we will again. I can make better meatballs, pesto and sauce at home. read more

I use to love this place. Now it is about a 3.5 star. I still recommend this place because of the food taste. Their homemade cavatelli and meat sauce, and their Chicken Parmesan are usually (but not always) delicious. I always get my food to go, because it feels less like an Italian restaurant and more like a bar. The prices are kind of high and the quality is sometimes hit or miss. I still order the family packs to go about once a month. It use to include a loaf of Italian bread and a good size salad, but now they give a smallish container of salad mix from a bag and a few rolls. If you want to add cheese, they charge and extra $4.00 and only give you a handful of it, better to buy a bag of mozzarella and add it to the salad yourself. read more

Probably one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. Server seemed "tired" to put it nicely. One guest ordered shrimp Alfredo. It was a plate of pasta topped with a scoop of alfredo sauce and then topped with what looked like boiled salad shrimp. Very unappealing! Another guest ordered a combo of chicken parm and chicken piccata. That dish came out with a garnish and bread stick. I ordered chicken parm with no sauce on the chicken. That dish came out with 3 breaded chicken tenderloins ( I thought chicken parm was a chicken breast cutlet ) the chicken was so over cooked and then topped with shredded mozzarella, not melted. No garnish or bread stick. We decided to go big and share a dessert. We were presented with a piece of cake that looked like it fell apart and covered up with whipped cream. Then when we ordered they messed up the half cheese, half pepperoni pizza. Made it half pepperoni-sausage, half pepperoni. I don't like pepperoni or sausage, I've been vegetarian for two years straight. My brothers ravioli was room temp. and the room wasn't very warm.
