What a great place for kids! I don't have any small people myself, but I am Auntie Claire and so I headed here with my best friend and her three kids. Even minus my own small people I could appreciate what a great place this is.
Its a lovely country park - rivers, swans, ducks, etc but the star of the show is the play or adventure areas dotted around the parks. Forget the brightly coloured plastics and metals of my own childhood that were actually a bit sad and lame, this is full on nature - tree stumps, gigantic chairs made out of trees, Dr Seuss quotes, sandpits, tree climbing frames, little dens - too much to describe.
It is also free - apart from parking but at £2 for 4 hours, it is a bargain and there are plenty of overflow car parks such is its popularity. There is a cafe on site providing hot dishes such as soup, paninis, jacket potatoes and also cakes, kids lunchboxes (with healthy snacks) and teas and coffee's, etc. If you are however on a budget, then bring your own picnic as this is encouraged with lots of picnic areas (tables, benches) dotted around and even in the play areas so the grown-ups can munch and keep an eye on the kids.
So if you have kids, a great day out to let them run riot and it won't break the bank either, especially if you take your own picnic! read more
