This might be the point where you judge me for having purchased one of these ludicrously and shockingly priced candles -- but yep, that's exactly what I did and you can cast all the judgment all you want because I sure as hell don't regret it. I know; this is the point where I perhaps may have gotten too defensive.
The first thing that you need to know is that I'm an absolute candle lover. A candle phile. Or whatever you call it. I. love. candles. I first heard about Diptyque when I ran a search online for "best candle in London" and Diptyque was the constant brand that came up. London because I had a friend move there to study and was thinking of having her purchase one on my behalf. But then Diptyque opened in Manila. I selected the roses scent which surprisingly is quite pleasant on the nose and that's saying something considering that I'm not much of a floral scent type of woman.
Are the candles overpriced? Perhaps. But is it so bad to purchase a candle or two perhaps once a year if you have the means to do so? Absolutely not. I've burned a dozen candles and I can vouch for the fact that the quality of the wax and the wick of Diptyque candles are next level. The store is small but not cramped. The salesperson knew what she was talking about as well. If you're on the search for a gift for a loved one for a special occasion, look no further.
P.S. Diptyque also specializes in scents but I've yet to try any of their fragrances. read more
