It doesn't look like much from the outside, or the inside, but it is the fun, creative, and delicious food that really counts. I was drawn to the nostalgia of their "TV Dinner" entree as it brought about fond memories of the Salisbury Steak, potatoes, and chocolate brownie of my childhood. I fully intend to return to try this another day before the menu changes. I'll have to be quick as their menu rotates weekly. I am glad that I opted for the scallops. What was delivered was an absolute delicious indulgence. Very tasty and filling. The chef and owner was a delight to talk to. Service was attentive and informative. I'm looking forward to sharing this experience with my loved ones and good friends. I don't plan on telling my enemies about it, so as to keep it secret to only the good people in town.

I have heard such amazing things about this spot that I was really excited to try it! My friends and I went for a celebratory dinner and I was a bit disappointed at the menu. We ordered 3 things: grilled caesar salad, the cuban with fries and a pasta dish. I was just honestly disappointed in all 3. The caesar salad was a bit wilty (think warm romaine vs grilled) and that was not my favorite. The cuban was a good sandwich but it didn't really resemble a cuban at all. I think if it was called a "pork sandwich", we would have enjoyed much more! The fries were also a bit underdone for my preference and were just mid. As for the pasta? I think I liked this the most, but the alfredo sauce broke and ended up separating a bit, but the amount of little shrimps (honestly I cannot remember what it's called) were abundant! Just more than I could handle, so I gifted them to the table. I really love the concept of this spot and like how cozy and chill it is, but I'm not sure it was the best menu experience for me. I feel like I need to come back and try it again, but may need to figure out what the menu is beforehand! The service was great though and I do think that it was truly a preference thing for me.

My husband and I finally got a babysitter and treated ourselves to this bistro. The interior is a bit eclectic, but holy cow, we were absolutely blown away by the food. The presentation is perfection, and Chef Benjamin is warm, accommodating, and extremely down to earth. I tend to stick with my usuals, but I ventured away from the "classic" burger and tried the pork tenderloin. 10/10. My husband was impressed with the duck entree, too - very flavorful and delicious. If you're looking for a great appetizer, get the Brucetta! Just do it! We were so, so wowed by everything and definitely plan to go back soon. Thanks for such a great date night experience!

My son took me here for dinner about 2 weeks ago, and it was wonderful! We started off with the crab cakes as an appetizer. They were incredibly light and tasty; the sauce drizzled over the top had a tiny kick to it - loved it! For the main course, we had the brisket mac n cheese. The brisket was so tender and generously portioned; the mac n cheese was creamy and plentiful. I also got the Rueben sandwich to take back to my hotel for the next days lunch - I wasn't disappointed. Figuratively speaking, Benjamin put his foot in it...wiggled those toes around a bit. Translated, it means that it's awesome food, and I'll be back next time I come to visit! Good job, Chef!!

Whatever your vibe is, Pursuit of Happiness is a wonderful woman owned business that I love to support! It's kind of tucked away from the bustle of the street, but you can easily find some off street parking around the corner in a lot or find some street parking pretty easily, which is really nice. My boyfriend and I stopped in to grab some snacks and since they're part of the downtown refreshment zone, we also got some drinks to go. The staff at the AC Hotel is incredibly professional, welcoming, and authentically kind. Our service was great while we were there. I love the varied cozy seating at this bar! We chose a high top at one of the large windows, which was great for people watching. They keep them open during warmer weather so we heard a lot of the hustle and bustle of downtown. We started with some recommended drinks from our bartender -- I ordered the pina colada milk punch on draft, and my boyfriend got the skeleton key. The pina colada milk punch was really refreshing! It's made with coconut water instead of coconut cream you find in a typical pina colada, and it has a little bubbliness to it while still being tropical. I really liked it and would definitely order it again. The skeleton key was really nice, too! It was a ginger beer drink that was also refreshing. The drinks were delicious but didn't taste too much like alcohol - could be a good thing or a bad thing! For my to-go drink, I got an aperol spritz, which was delicious! For food, we got the albondigas and manchego croquettes to share. The croquettes were deliciously creamy melted cheese and perfectly fried! The aioli dipping sauce was really tasty but not needed with the richness of the croquette. The croquettes came three to an order, so be aware of that if you're planning on sharing. The albondigas were flavorful and I really liked the tomato sauce. They could have been a little more tender, but I enjoyed eating them with the baguette. Overall, our experience at La Ventanita was definitely five stars, especially due to the superior service. I would go back to try more of the food--the Cuban style burger sounds really tasty!

It's a beautiful building with lots of wood and decor that makes you feel like you've traveled somewhere far away from Grand Rapids for a tapas adventure. We were seated promptly, and our server was attentive, although I do believe overloaded with tables. It was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night they said, and we had to ask for several things a couple of times. This isn't a big deal as we all understand being busy. It almost seems like we tried the whole menu, but some of the standouts were the charcuterie (jamon y queso), the empanadas, and the goat cheese (queso con herbias). The patatas bravas were a big hit with our group. Our least favorite dishes were the carne paella and the albondigas. We did not try any of the seafood options, but some were very intriguing. We had a non seafood lover at the table. All of our drinks were delicious, aside from a couple of mistakes with getting the wrong ones. Overall, it was a great visit and I would return if in the area.

If you want to find a place to try with friends, family, or a date, this is a pretty cool place to try out! There are pretty good options for food on their menu. The dishes that have borders around them are what the chefs recommend. Me and my friend decided to go that route. Warm Goat Cheese - really good! It had a really thick and gooey texture, and I felt with the warmth it added to the deliciousness to it. It really is a comforting dish to try out. I thought the Spanish tomato sauce really complimented to the warm goat cheese. They offer 6 pieces of bread; if you need more, they will give you more! Smoked Chicken Empanadas - this dish was pretty good. The shell was very crispy, but the chicken inside was actually pretty dry, to my surprise. The salsa tasted good though, and I really loved the red pepper cream. Beautiful dish though! I don't think I'd get it again though. I do prefer my empanadas slightly on the softer side. Garlic Shrimp Adobado - this was probably my favorite dish. My friend thought it was a little too strong with garlic, but what else would you expect with "roasted garlic, confit garlic butter, garlic chips" as the description?? I personally didn't find it too garlic-y. I loved it and would recommend it. It was flavorful and I loved the soft cloves of garlic. It wasn't too heavy of a dish. Smoked Bacon Wrapped Medjool Dates - this was also one of my other favorites. If you're getting this dish with other ones, my suggestion is to eat this last because the dates are naturally pretty sweet which almost make it feel like you're eating a dessert dish. The bacon was sooo good and cooked so well with the dates. Super decadent dish and unique! If you are not familiar with tapas style, the front of the menu talks about tapas and the communal aspect of it. I loved that they did it! True to tapas style, the restaurant can serve you one to two dishes at a time, which I would recommend. The service was great. Super friendly and warm. On the slower side, but I think it was just because it was pretty busy that night.
