These people took advantage of my disability, which is severe long-term and short-term memory loss. They were very irresponsible, and didn't update Social Security with my PO Box. I had moved out of my apartment, and let disability help center know that. The attorneys office was fully aware that I moved out of that apartment because I could no longer afford it since I'm not working . They failed to give Social Security my mailing address which is the PO Box, so I missed two doctors appointments that I was supposed to go to. When I called for an update because it's been so long, the attorneys office lied to me and told me that I was denied, because one of my doctors failed to send my medical records so that it was an automatic denial. That is a lie. They didn't because of my memory loss. I told them to send me a timeline sheet of everything, a year later... And nowhere did it say my doctor failed to submit medical records. It says that I was denied because of missing two doctors appointments! And then I called Social Security directly, and they said they were never updated with my PO Box. Once I caught on, I called disability health center and told the receptionist and the business manager my concerns... the business manager told me that she would call me back. I decided to call again, maybe a month later, and the receptionist told me that she could leave a message for the business manager, I told her that I am very disappointed that no one has called me back, and that she was taking advantage of my memory loss, and I no longer want the office representing me and call me back. They went ahead and sent me a letter saying that they will no longer represent me, however, I never received a phone call with an apology or anything at all. So unprofessional and completely disheartening. I'm going through the most trying time of my young life, suffering from memory loss because of a spontaneous health issue called unprovoked and nocturnal seizures. The trauma to the brain has given me, memory loss, and for them to take advantage of me is completely disgusting. read more

They've been yanking me around for almost two full years now for no reason and they're never available to speak with you. Their email inboxes bounce emails back all the time. This place is super attentive to your calls and needs when they're trying to get you to sign on the dotted line for 20% of your payout, but once they get that signature, they're absolutely awful. A seemingly high turnover rate has had me go through 3 or 4 case managers in less than a year and I've been trying to get a call back from anyone there for months and nobody has ever called me back. I also keep getting notices from the Social Security Administration that my case will be closed if they don't get the required information in time (which I've given Disability Help Center), so I suspect that they're not even doing their job for me. This could end up costing me a lot of money from their failure to hold up their end of the contract. I do not recommend them one bit. read more

I get calls from them , they call and hang up. I have no idea why most of the time they don't leave a message. It's very annoying , I call then back and they always have an excuse. "We are having phone problems " or they say they did not call " etc... but when I do get receptionist on phone they do have info about my case they wanted to tell me about . Ok, the reason I call this law firm is because I seen a good review from what appears to be a veteran. Well I took the review at face value and made the call. When the nice lady answered the phone. I ask to speak with a accredited VA attorney. She proceeded to tell me that that I need to call another number and gave me a gentleman's name. I thought to myself. Hold on...I then asked. Is this person your referring me to a part of your law firm. She attempted to dance around the question and stated that he a great resource and she was instructed to pass on his information. I say, I understand so what law firm does he work for??? She then told me that he works for County Veteran Service Office. I say, interesting again because I was looking for an someone not associated with VSO. So I did what I think most would do. I jumped on the internet and proceeded to look this person up. Guess what, I could find anything on this person they were referring me to. I thought that's strange, why isn't he listed as practicing attorney anywhere? So he probably is a great person to represent a veteran,however I was looking for someone that I could at least find something about them. Only thing I found was that the person works for the VSO. The reason this firm got 1 star from me is they advertised they take on veterans cases. Since I wasn't able to speak with an attorney and just an office person. I feel a little bait and switched. I'm a veteran looking for an accredited attorney with a law firm. Someone who is listed under a law firm. Nothing against VSO, they've helped many of veterans. However I expected to speak with an attorney hear because the review prior stated they were helpful. They being the law firm. Tell me, what they penalty for a bad referral??? Who pays for in the end??? The veteran does with wasted time and effort. Ok, I followed up on they're referral and the person wasn't an attorney. He is a VSO rep and I called specifically for an attorney. Maybe, the lady miss spoke... however that's my review. Moral of the story here. If I call and ask for attorney do not refer me to a person that is not an attorney. :( read more

I had a horrible experience. During my initial consultation with a case manager, it was made clear to me at the so-called "Disability Help Center" that I had a good case for Social Security Disability and I would be a potential Client. However, my proactive approach to my Case, a case pending an appeal for reconsideration, is a strong case well prepared and waiting for a response from the Social Security Department. "it would be wrong for us to charge you 25% for no effort on our part" I was well aware of that, I never asked for legal representation, just counsel. As the so-called "Disability Help Center" and my not being an actual client, I never thought twice when I was handed a Physical Residual Functional Capacity Questionnaire to provide my Physician. A format that allows my physician to answer specific questions improving the integrity of my case. in the case my appeal was denied because of my age, I found those gestures of honesty, support and good will for a potential client Genuine and worthy of representing me at a hearing. Unfortunately, when I fax the questionnaire back to the D.H.C office, I believe that amazing Case worker I met was admonish for her personal attention on my case. Since that meeting, when I needed them the most, on Several Occasions it was made clear to me from a rude receptionist at the so-called Disability Help Center that I Am Not A Client. I am Now a client of their Competitor in the same building. Jorgensen Law. Incredibly selective of who they chose as a client, I feel safe, comfortable and at peace awaiting my hearing. . . . Poor communication resulted in a big wAste of almost three years. And their informing me of denial AFTER the appeal period had passed is symbolic of their level of professionalism. Potentially they could work out - wouldn't count on them much more than you can count on paying rent with the trifecta daily double at Del Mar this summer! I came to the disability help center to find help with my benefits. Everyone there was so knowledgeable, especially the Office Manager, Rosie. I met with her first and she explained the process and what to expect. They started the process for me and they did tell me that this process can take six months to two years. My case went all the way to a hearing so after about 2 1/2 years I finally received my benefits. Even though the process was long the disability help center was there to help me and guide me through the way. read more

DO NOT USE THEM!!! VERY DISHONEST!!!! My case was not hard. It took one year to get approved. Also social security never denied me. When I first called in I was informed that they help people with low income. Me having no income since I could not work at all my first case manager said she, Rosie, that there is no fee unless we have to use a lawyer in which there is a 25% fee (which would be if I was denied, which I wasn't). When I got my approval letter a year later I noticed social security stating that there is a chance the "attorneys" can only get a specific amount. I called in to speak to my new case manager, Ruth, who informed me that yes they would be taking a fee. I asked that the fee amount was she looked in my file and said 10% (told two different things now), since they didn't have to fight it. I thought they did help with paperwork, so 10% is fair. I called in today, 10/20/2015, and I was told now 25%. Ruth also stated that should be never say 10% even though she did, and I documented it. Apparently that doesn't matter. I trusted them, should have recording every conversation I had with them. Ruth also had the audacity to state that I was trying to rip them off. I originally called in to just get an update if they received their 10%. IF YOU ARE GOING TO GET CHARGED 25% GO TO A REAL ATTORNEY TO HELP YOU!!! read more

It looks like she has now left but is anyone checking her emails? Of course not. Did they let me know she had left? Of course not. hello world I have a disability where I can see things others can not... long story short I haven't been able to hold a job for longer then a few months the longest job I have ever held is 11 months... back in '08... and this company was able to get me my disability check with in 6 months, instead of three years... granted now we have to play a new game... I was told I was going to get $931.00 for disability and now there saying im only getting 631... that only covers rent... what about trash $94, electric $150-$200, car insurance $70, and gas $80! to drive the car! that's an additional $444.00 dollars! read more

i called them about a year ago & they were very helpful with info on my Veteran's Disability Benefits. The guy I talked to went to law school & worked for the VA processing VA disability benefits for a long time, if i recall correctly. He was articulate, intelligent, caring, professional, very knowledgeable & I appreciated his straight talk & empathy. I highly recommend this place. I highly recommend NOT going to the DAV & the other Veteran's Benefits helpers in the Mission Valley, as they are incompetent, under-trained, over worked, not that educated, swamped, tired, & although they were respectful to me I have seen them snap & mishandle other veterans. read more

I had a great experience with the Disability Help Center. After multiple applications and subsequent denials, I was at a community support group, when a representative of the Help Center told us they help people win their benefits. She (I think her name was Charline), explained that everything was free, but if I wanted them to "represent" me, their would be a fee. With my background, I felt like if I just had some guidance at the key times, I would be able to handle things on my own. Turns out I was right. When I went into the office the specialist (Janette) was very up front with me and She quickly put me at ease. I also learned that they have a very good track record, which made me feel good. I gave the DHC a 5 star because it exceeded all of my expectations. I got free help on several occasions; the employees were great; and I was approved after multiple denials. So if I had to rate the specifics, it'd look like this... Office: The office was clean and located in a relatively nice location (near Balboa Park). Considering the office is near downtown San Diego, I wasn't sure if I would have to park using a meter. Happily, the lot is big enough that I was able to park on site. Employees: From my first phone call to my last visit, the workers at the DHC were awesome. The girls at the front desk were both very nice and professional. The disability specialist that helped me (Sophia), was really good about evaluating my claim and then giving me the necessary resources to support my approval. Pros: People were great and seemed to really know the disability requirements. I was warned of the common mistakes people make and advised on things I could do to win my case. Turns out... they were right and after many attempts on my own, I was finally approved. Cons: Most of my frustration has to do with how long the social security administration takes to make a decision, but that really isn't DHC's fault. Overall: I feel so much gratitude for the help I received and the employees that gave of their time to help me. I was so desperate and scared, but when I recieved my letter from Social Security saying I was Approved, I couldn't believe it. I was so happy with the help I received. Sofia said I had a good case and didn't I trust her! That was after two denial's, while waiting for the date for my hearing with the ALJ. I didn't talk to the attorney Holly, till two days before hearing. And trust me she had never seen my case before that. An now I'm going on thirty days after my UNFAVOURABLE DECISION, (you only have sixty days to file an appeal) and Holly hasn't called me yet, (could be because she'd have to read the 13pg Decision) and I've left many messages for Sofia, and nothing.
