While yelp and its ilk are great resources for picking out good meals in advance, there is still nothing that compares to randomly stumbling into a great spot, which was the case for us here on our jet-laggy and foggy first night in Germany. The minute you walk in the places history seeps into your soul. Posters of all the bands that have came thru here on sojourns to this arena rock mecca grace the walls, including of course Frank himself, whose surname forms the basis of the bars moniker. If your lucky enough some of the salty-dog looong time regulars might regale you with some specific tales from said history. If you are even luckier you might meet the man himself, the proprietor, the literal heart of the bar and human personification of that history. You'll find Germans of all ages and types mingling here as well, which is sadly often not the case back home.

The main room is complemented by another, less charming room in the back, but its a bit brighter and quieter in there. The walls are decked out with all sort of paraphernalia and kram, some of it is quite dated (see the banner of DDR flags). The beer selection is okay, just like the rest of Germany, but once again, the atmosphere is what makes this place. Apparently, they serve food, as the name of the place suggests, but I didn't get any, although it smelled good. They also have live jazz performances, but what I find even cooler is there bookcase of CD's. It wasn't immediately clear to me if they actually played those CD's, but the music was good, in any case.

It was crowded but not so crowded that you couldn't dance or move around. A good amount of people. The floor was very sticky but that could be a good sign, meaning the club parties hard.
