Ownwell is a scam! Dont sign their "contract" because they will continue to bill you the following year even if you emailed them in advance "cancelling" their service. They'll bill you for the tax reduction obtained from a legitimate tax reduction service evrn though they did nothing on their own to reduce your property taxes! read more

Been using Discount Property Taxes, LLC for years and referred them many clients. Seems they are out of business or simply just dropped the ball in 2025 - they failed to represent (fail to appear) us this year at a scheduled hearing with TCAD. Called them today and the man that answered the phone said the owner was not around and he didn't know if he would ever be back. Now I've got to submit a "Revocation of Appointment of Agent for Property Tax Matters" form to remove them as our "Agent". I know of at least one other homeowner that is having the same problem and I imagine there are many more. read more

I saw an ad on TV for Ownwell a few days before my (online) property tax appeal hearing that was scheduled for June 7, 2024. They said they definitely could. I filled out all the forms and uploaded stuff. Confirmed everything was good. I appealed my taxes 3 years before. Successfully got it reduced, they told me at the end of my "presentation" in the Zoom hearing. It is now July 11, 2024. I still have gotten zero communication regarding the hearing. This morning, I got an email that they successfully filed an appeal for my 2024 property taxes. Huh? I didn't authorize you to file another appeal and, when you successfully appeal (as they should have done on June 7, 2024), I don't need to appeal anything for 3 years. I am in the midst of Jury duty so I can't go down to the county tax office to ask what the heck is going on. They are misleading as heck claiming they lock in the rate for $100 - that's automatically done. I have no idea WHAT they did or didn't do, but I sure as heck never gave them permission to file another appeal. read more

Discount Property Taxes did not file a protest on my behalf. I contracted with them and emailed them prior to the deadline to confirm they have my contract and will protest my property tax. They responded that they will. After months of following-up, I confirmed from them that it "slipped through the cracks". Avoid at all cost. It is also impossible to get a hold of them. I have worked with Discount Property Taxes for years and they have always done right by me filing my protests in a timely manner and making sure that my taxes were in line with everybody else around me. If I did not have them I would have been paying thousands of dollars extra in property taxes every year. Avoid. Since signing up with them Dec 2021 it was impossible to get a human on the phone. A few months before the protest deadline this year we managed to get another company to appeal on our behalf and got our valuation reduced. The other company didn't charge us but incredibly Discount Properties just emailed me (Dec 2022) for their "services" in reducing our valuation this year. I tried calling again to clear things up but it went straight to voicemail. Complete fraudsters. read more

I am currently attempting to get a refund for an overpayment to this company. They DOUBLE BILLED me on 2 properties, and I paid them both times, and dicovered my mistake October 2nd. I called them, and emailed them, and called again- someone finally answered , and I explained what happened. She said they had a check for my refund and were waiting for someone to sign the check so it could be mailed to me. That was 5 weeks ago. I have called multiple times and emailed as well since then, and no one EVER answers the phones, and my emails are IGNORED. I am about to sue them in small claims court. SUPER PISSED. read more

I was compelled to write a review because the "service" I got was non-existent. I asked discount property taxes to protest my taxes on a new purchase where the assessed value was above the sales price...should have been a slam dunk. I was able to talk to someone about this, uploaded the necessary documentation, and I thought everything was good. Since October 30, 2020, I have called and e-mailed and have received ZERO responses. I went so far as to contact the Travis County Appraisal Review Board (ARB). They told me that discount property taxes was informed of the hearing date but never showed up! The ARB further informed me there is nothing I can do and they completely shirked their fiduciary duty. I haven't seen a lack of service since the cable companies were this bad. I would never recommend this place in a million years. Frankly, I don't care if the owner was sick, out of the country, etc - no communication on his part is 100% unacceptable. read more

The sign up process was very easy and they protested my taxes automatically every year without me having to worry about it. They only invoiced me if they were able to lower the taxes. I highly recommend them as it is in their best interest to protest and lower the taxes, otherwise they do not get paid. read more

This company has the worst customer service and lack of response of any company I have ever worked with. I am a Realtor (and they know it), and I could refer 100's of my clients to them for their services -- but that will never happen. Not only would they not return my numerous emails and phone calls (about 20!), they were unsuccessful in protesting my taxes and I doubt they even tried. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. The company continues to disappoint me. They never responded to my complaints and never apologized for their wrong doing which ultimately cost me few thousands dollars. Few months later, I receive the following e-mail from the owner: "Jarek, I'm really sorry your experience with us was negative. Unfortunately we're not successful 100 percent of the time and we get so busy it's hard to keep up with the customer service. Kindly consider deleting your post here on Yelp and Google. It already punished me for an entire season. Please I'm really really sorry! Sincerely, Stephen" Also, since my last review, I had found out that my neighbor (with a comparable home) was able to reduce his property taxes by over 15% by going to the Tax Offices himself. I hired this company to protest my property taxes for me. I received confirmation that they would be working my case in April when someone named Deena Hurt called and left a voicemail. I called back to verify that they had all my paperwork and would hear back in June. It is now July. We employed them in May, confirmed by email communication. In November, when we still hadn't heard anything, we emailed them twice. No response. Called them, and we were told they never sent the protest and that we never employed them! We have their email to prove that they agreed to file our protest back in May.
