After this amazing experience, I ventured upstairs to the music room, where I admired the early instruments this town has preserved. It's fascinating to learn how these artifacts contributed to the town's history, alongside chicory--a coffee substitute--historically significant due to a shipwreck that involved 273 passengers. This wreck was attributed to a treacherous storm on the Great Lakes. Additionally, I've always wanted to know the names of the moving parts on Port Huron's Abt Bascule Bridge, and I was pleased to find those answers provided on a diagram. Unfortunately, I ran out of time in the music room and didn't get to finish my tour, but I am definitely planning to return for another lesson in this town's rich history!

In grammar school, I learned he was the inventor of the incandescent light bulb but little did I know that Thomas Edison invented the telegraph, storage batteries, phonograph and even the motion picture projector. There's so much to see jam packed in this small hands-on/interactive museum. There are many interesting facts about his personal life and how some of these inventions/patents came about. It's a perfect opportunity for anyone to study history of inventions and the life of Thomas Edison. Signage is easy to read and understand. It's truly a gem.

Parking lots are located all around the the large building (that houses the children's museum but other stores and shops as well). Parking lots do start filling up fairly quickly but there was more than enough spots. Inside the play museum, there is a free area to hang your costs with ample space. There's tons of stuff to do for kids in the children's museum. Some highlights: Stepping in, there's a giant tree house type play ground where kids can climb up and explore. There's a kid sized town that includes a fire station, dentist/medicL area, ice cream shop, school, home, grocery store, farm. There's even little apron/hats for different areas for dressing up. There's a "sand area" to give up dinosaurs, a space area up on another floor. Perhaps one of the key defining features is the huge water play area that includes a giant fountain to shoot balls up, a fishing area, Lego area to build a dam. They even provide aprons to try to reduce wet shirts on kids. There's a dry off area with hoses that shoot air. There's also an area at the back that changes from time to time - the theme this time was Winter Olympics. There are shows that occur throughout the day like a star show and a fossil show. There are places to eat, a microwave to heat up food and vending machines. Overall, a great day trip for people in the area with young kids!

Other highlights include the supermarket role-play area, corn factory (harvest, make, and pack corn), fossils and dinosaur sand digging, light-up puzzles, hospital, fire station, and a packaging station that teaches how factory systems work in a fun way. Everything was clean and well maintained. A big plus for parents: large, clean washrooms, plus smaller washrooms designed for older kids, which made the visit much easier. Admission is very reasonable at $15.50 per person for adults and children aged 1 and up. Overall, this is a fantastic destination for families, especially on rainy days or weekends. Once we were done with this floor, we decided to go up the stairs. We were shocked to see a massive preschool room suitable for ages 4 and under. They have tons of toys for the kids. They had another water station. My kids were dry at first. However, a little boy sprayed water at my son and soaked him as his mom watched and said nothing. This didnt make our experience bad because luckily we had a change of clothes. I only say this to warn you to bring a change of clothes just in case they get wet. We didn't really go to the third floor. My husband said it was more for older kids when he went to check. The kids were having too much fun inside the playroom. We will definitely be back and hopefully not on a day where an event is taking place.

I recommend zapping the fritter in mic for 20-30 seconds. It's even better with a hot cup of coffee, as you relax and enjoy the view of the beautiful river, seabirds flying by, and freighters passing under the Blue Water Bridge. The staff generally announces over the PA which freighter is passing by and fun facts (where it's made, how old, tonnage, etc.). The river walk is popular for fishers, walkers and their dogs. They even have seasonal scheduled events with musical guests and vendors for farmer's market. So if you're looking for a relaxed short road trip outing, this is a keen place. It seems that mostly seniors loiter around. Maybe that's why my retired folks really liked it when they were last in town? But there's also a mix of young families and couples too.

I can go to the Outdoor Adventure Center for $5 a head (senior price), and $5 for her. The Nature Center on Belle Isle is FREE. Parking is free but limited, I got the last spot, my bf who met me there had to find street parking. The gift shop was nice and of course on the way out so we ended up with a stuffed animal and some mystery sand adding another $20 to my bill, so $89 for a 2.5 hour visit. OUCH.

We were able to play for an hour. They loved the water section. There was dancing fruit in one of the rooms and my son was dancing a lot. Another room had soccer balls that he was throwing. They had a pretend kitchen area and a seated area with magnetic blocks. My kids did not want to leave. When we walked out they had a demonstration at the science stage at 12:30pm about fire. That was really cool. They also have IMAX theatre shows. We did not want to participate in that because our kids would just scream. We did go to the dinosaur exhibit on the third floor as well. I thank my Yelp Bestie for an annual membership pass that she won for two people. I am truly grateful. This was a prime time to turn lemons into lemonade! We decided to check out the DaVinci special exhibition, shop the Museum Store and have lunch at the Plum Market Kitchen, too. The DaVinci exhibit was amazing. I had no idea of how many inventions Leonardo DaVinci made. I was only familiar with the Mona Lisa painting and the Safety Bridge. The Room of Mirrors was pretty cool.
