Over the summer, we had a series of test done on him that resulted in an autism diagnosis. When we did the follow up session with the therapist, the first thinking we asked was what was the best thing for him as far as schooling as he is supposed to start kindergarten in the fall. The therapist said that while there was nothing wrong with a Montessori school, public schools would offer far more resources. That's all we needed to hear. Public schools it is. So my wife reaches out to farmhouse school to let them know that our son can not attend in the fall due to his diagnosis. They said that was fine, but that the first month deposit was non-refundable. $900!! Seriously?! We have a son who will require speech therapy, as well as other counseling and they're keeping our money? Ok. So then it turns out that friends of ours have a daughter that will also be attending this school next year, so my wife asks if our tuition can be applied to their child. Nope. A contract is a contract. This isn't a major corporation. This is a mom and pop business providing a service for mom's and pops, and their kids. Yes they have a contract. They know they don't have to honor it. They know they could have done the right thing. They chose not to. I guess I should be appreciative of the fact that they showed what they truly stand for before we went there. I can think of few things more devoid of moral decency than the way they chose to handle this. Our son has autism! Seriously?! What's wrong with you?

This school has lots of field trip that would certainly be fun if they were more organized with informing to the parents sooner than the night before. This was something all the parents complained about. 4. I had a mom bump into me at a store telling me she felt bad for my son because the teacher was talking about him in-font of other parents. 5. Lacks professionalism and confidential conversations. 6: Not enough positive environment and I believe this might go back to the lack of early child development training. 7. High expectations for a four year old boy. 8. No posting of first aid and CPR training or food handlers permit BUT snack were given. What if a toddler begin to choke? We as parents should feel that our children are being safe environment once we drop them off. 9. Open lines of communication with the teacher shouldn't come across as being defensive. Several parents felt this way. Maybe it was just our son that they just didn't connect with or have the patients for but has parents this is the start to their little minds. We had to un-enroll her after just two days here. To me, this demonstrated a poor lack of judgment among other things. Why wouldn't you want to protect the children you're teaching? I spoke with the director and she apologized and refunded all of our money. The issue with the staff not masking is complicated as they claimed a religious exemption to masking (which isn't a real thing)! We're two years into his pandemic. Wearing a mask isn't hard. I'm a nurse and wear one all day while caring for patients. It's not hard to protect yourself and others. It amazes me that I even have to write this right now but I want others to be aware before enrolling here in case keeping their children safe at preschool is a concern for them.

My daughter now attends, this will be her 3rd and a half year. I was looking for a school that felt like an extension of home. A loving and nurturing environment. I had originally missed the open house date but decided to give Ali a call for a private tour. The moment I stepped inside the classroom I fell in love. I knew right away that I had found our school! I have to say, what a relief. Ali explained to me the Montessori philosophy, admittedly I was not familiar with it. Now I can't imagine teaching my kiddos without this philosophy. First Stage Montessori has created a solid foundation for my children's independence, curiosity, confidence and responsibility.
