Also known as Petersham Park, this is a great park to have a picnic, watch a cricket match, or go…read morefor a swim. It is the biggest open space in the area and you'll find lots of people exercising and playing with their kids and dogs. It almost deserves five stars, but the people using the park don't take especially good care of it. After a weekend of heavy use, there is rubbish everywhere. I take my kid to the playground here almost daily and spend a good portion of my time picking up broken glass -- I've come to the conclusion that if somebody breaks a bottle anywhere in Petersham, they pick up the pieces to distribute across the playground. Pick up after yourselves, people!!!

It's located within Central Park which is next to the city where the Kent Brewery used to be. Within the park, there's a massive artwork located in the middle of the park known as "Halo" which you should check out and also there's a lot of green spaces separated by footpaths which leads to Central "The Living Mall" and allows for people to get from Broadway Road to Balfour Street. There are a lot of trees planted in the park which is great as it provides shade and also makes the park feel like it has a life of its own. So it's a great place to stop by if you live in Chippendale or around the area as it provides many places for you to relax, play some ball games, study or to chat with your friends. With Central now open, which is the Central Park Shopping Centre known as "The Living Mall", you can get some food or drinks from the many shops there and have it in the park where it's better than being stuck inside on a sunny or cloudy day. If you wanted to cook your own food instead, you're in luck as there's a BBQ area which is great for having parties or cooking yourself breakfast, lunch or dinner. Also within the BBQ area there's tap water, so it's quite good if you need to wash your hands or something. When the park allowed for me to get there more easily via Broadway Road, I've been to this park many times, I guess mostly to have a BBQ and to catch up with friends as it's the closest public BBQ in the area. So another park has been made available to the people of Sydney and more specifically the people living in the city of Sydney, which is a good thing I believe. So if you're in the area and need to get away from the place known as the city, Chippendale Green is one of the many places that I think can help you out.

With all the latest redevelopment, it would be tempting to move back over this way... This stretch of green grass makes such a difference, and really opens up the whole area of Chippendale, which previously had little in the way of greenery. My pet favourite is to cut through it to White Rabbit Gallery, and the other cafes and galleries of Chippendale. It's also great to just chill out here after visiting "The Living Mall". I'm not sure whether it's on or off leash for dogs - I saw one off leash, but it may have been flouting the rules.

Beauty and the …read more... Jubilee Park lies at the end of Glebe Point Road and I can honestly say, has The Best views in Sydney. I am partial towards the Anzac bridge and prefer that to harbour bridge. The view is stunning. You can see the city skyline and the water is sparkling. I love running along the track but have to stop every two minutes as its a leash free park for Dogs and they like running too! Ugh!! I hate being chased by little puppies yelping away at my feet.. But what I detest even more is the bigger dogs who seem to be a bit out of control and should be restrained no matter what! (I apologise if you're a dog lover. I'm just terrified of them) To be fair, I do believe Dogs need places where they can run about freely too and this is one of the few parks I have come across which offers them that luxury. There are plenty of pets and pet owners who are enjoying the park, I guess it's just not a park for me..

Went here for a ladies only family picnic yesterday and I have to say that we loved the location,…read morethe views of Anzac Bridge were fantastic as it is such a majestic bridge. Oh and how could one forget the lovely houses along the walk around the bay? Without knowing I got rather sunburnt, however the day was spent eating, meeting new puppies that kept running up to our blankets and saying hello as well as going for a relaxing walk around the bay. If you don't like dogs then I would suggest you probably don't come here. It's a leash free park for dogs and they are also allowed to swim in the water which I think is a great option for the four legged furry beasties, especially in summer! I loved watching them play fetch with various items in the water. Entertainment plus! There's public toilets that aren't the best, however I have seen much much worse. At least they had toilet paper. There's also a lot of children and families having picnics and using the play area. But not so many people that you felt that it was over crowded. It's such a lovely spot that we're ear marked it again for our next months picnic!

Large urban park located near the Broadway Sydney shopping center, Victoria Park has a large pond…read morenamed 'Lake Northam' in its northern part. We were in the area while visiting Sydney, so stopped by. Unfortunately, the pond was so full of blooming algae, that it appeared as if you could walk across it because it was solid ground. It's nice to have open green space in an open area, but it must be difficult to maintain any body of water if there isn't much water flow. We did two Australian white ibis pecking away at something.

There is also a pool and gym complex in the middle which is a bit steep for a single visit but well priced if you join as a member. The only downside is that the huge grassy area gets easily water logged and becomes a muddy mess because local frisbee teams (yep you read right) play there rain, hail or shine tearing up the surface. There are plenty of other grass areas so it isn't too big of a deal but the council should really put in better drainage on the big area. There are events held at the park on the odd occasion too which are always worth a look.

Make your way to…read moreJackson's Landing, where the Foreshore promenade, found along the Pyrmont Point Park (say that three times fast!), makes for a relaxing and scenic jog, stroll, or sprinting session. Interestingly, the promenade actually reflects the natural shoreline. I've seen people do yoga and boot camp on the freshly mowed grass as well. Facing Balmain, this innovative waterfront park is beautifully designed and landscaped. The park, including the children's playground, was constructed with recycled and sustainable material. While in the park, you can catch glimpses of the area's industrial history. Huge rusted artifacts are reminiscent of the maritime industry and the Colonial Sugar Refinery that once stood here. Beautiful apartment complexes made of sandstone surround the park, as well as a few cafes and restaurants. The best time of day to come here is around sunset, where panoramic views of the city (from the Anzac to the Harbor Bridge) and the water are lit with an orange glow. I've also heard that jazz festivals take place here during the year.

This park is great for having BBQs because its a little easier to get access to a BBQ stove (as…read moreopposed to the beaches) - and because there is a supermarket and well stocked bottle shop nearby you can easily get supplies for the BBQ. Every year it seems to be a bit more restricted (more cops, more checks), but the result is that it's a great place for families to come and watch the 9pm fireworks - you'll just have to make sure you send a vanguard EARLY! But actually I prefer Blues Point every other day of the year, when I can wander down with a book and a coffee (see my Allpress rave from The Point Deli) and soak up some sun and that view for an hour or two. My second though was that it's a pity the grassed area is so small as I imagine every man and his dog would be trying inch their way in to the perfect viewing position. And it's got to be THE perfect viewpoint. The bridge looks complete, your virtually in the centre of it and only far enough away for it to be too close. I probably would attempt it on fireworks night but I would take any out-of-towners there for the complete view. There's also a designer playground... meaning no colourful plastic equipment here - silver shaped climbing frames... on second thoughts it might be workout gear for big people.

This side of Sydney has achieved it's fame from it's gorgeous views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge from a distance, the waters are sprinkled with docked boats and kayakers, and just when you start to feel like you're swimming in someones backyard, you realize that you actually are! Hermit Bay is not as well known as it's neighbour Milk Beach, and in fact, you need to take a detour of narrow steep rock steps cut into the cliffside as you're on your way to Milk Beach to get to Hermit Bay. It's not advertised and you wont find any directions to this place anywhere, but you'll happen to stumble across these 'Alice In Wonderland' style steps and if you're anything like me, be curious enough to wander down them to the magical lagoon style bay beneath! Definitely one for the nudists! The privacy and seclusion of this tiny bay is adorable! There's a small sandy area where you can lay your towel down for a sun bake, and a tiny little bay area where you can swim out into the open Harbour! Great spot to go alone, with your mates, or perfect for that romantic date you've been wanting to take that special someone on!
