The whipped feta is always a treat -- light and creamy with a solid feta taste, but not overpowering, served with a few orange slices and thinly sliced almonds, and pita. Special dish! Beet salad excellent, but the Fresno peppers had way too much heat, so pushed them to side. My wife had the Moroccan curry, which had a very spot on Moroccan flavor (been there 3x), and was a large, filling portion so brought home leftovers. I had the grilled pork chop which was large, perfectly grill with a tasty bourbon-based glaze, served with a large roasted garlic clove. Wonderful dish. My brother was visiting from San Antonio, TX. We were tooling around Austin playing tourist and then landed at District Kitchen for lunch. This place is so intoxicating from the aqua blue color palate and funky green art work to the alluring lighting and huge metal plate (looks like something from a ship...also their logo). My brother said the green artwork looked like broccoli. My brother ordered the Idaho trout with coconut rice and Brussel sprouts. I sampled his food and it was all good. The standout was the Brussel sprouts...crispy with this absolutely delicious drizzle. I ordered the Mezze plate with a flavor explosion and many desirable texture. It had lamb kabobs, fresh salad (emphasis on fresh) with thinly sliced cucumbers, finely sliced onions and creamy feta (never had creamy feta), red round sweet peppers, hummus with the most delightful pesto like sauce, and olives. Service was great. The food was good with an exception. The trout with Brussels sprouts was tasty. The chicken and waffles were enjoyed but one of those chicken pieces was burned and bitter (see pic) The buffalo chili was on the spicy side and for $16 a small portion. (See pic). Met a friend for a late lunch here last week after her training workshop. Always great food options for a last minute choice to meet for lunch. We were able to get a table quickly since we avoided the main lunch crowd. Our server was very helpful and we got our food quickly. The presentation of our soup and salad was really pretty. I always love their butternut squash soup and was glad to see it as a combo option. Since it wasn't that crowded, we could easily hear each other talking which is always a plus. What a sexy little date night spot! District Kitchen is tucked into a shopping center with plenty of parking, including accessible spots, which I always appreciate. We went as two couples, and when we arrived the first thing I noticed was the cute covered patio with lots of open tables. Inside, the lighting is dim and the decor is lovely, making it a perfect spot for an intimate date night. We had a reservation and were seated right away. We probably didn't need one as they had many open tables. Our waiter was great, friendly and attentive, and checked in just the right amount. They offer beer on tap as well as cocktails, and we ordered both. The Pepino was especially yummy. For food, we skipped an appetizer to save room for dessert, and I am glad we did. Both of us ladies ordered the shrimp and grits and were so happy with that choice. Delicious. The guys went with the bison burger and the chicken milanese, and they both really enjoyed their dishes. We finished by sharing dessert, the carrot zucchini cake, seasonal crumble and the chocolate sticky toffee pudding. All of which were really tasty. It was a great night. Lovely new American restaurant with some fusion forward menu items. Modern space that feels upscale but also cozy and kid friendly. Our server was kind, patiently answered our questions, and had great recommendations. We ordered the shishito peppers and falafel to start. The falafel was cooked perfectly and was a huge hit with the kids. Peppers were good, a good kick without being overwhelmingly spicy. For mains we ordered the rainbow trout and the fesenjoon. The trout was amazing! So delicious, light yet filling and served on top of a beautiful wild rice pilaf with a side of Brussels sprouts. Healthy and so tasty! Fesenjoon is what I'd describe as a Persian chicken mole - the sauce is an acquired taste. Unique flavor profile which I found enjoyable. Plenty of parking and love the colors inside, very inviting. Popped in for brunch and the menu had a lot to offer. Went with a classic fried egg sandwich which was juicy and bread toasty. The fries were honestly one of the best fries I've ever had! Well done! The wait staff were attentive and nice, I do feel like our table was an awkward table though to be able to connect with them but that wasn't their fault. What a lovely place! Came here with my friends during happy hour. Right away the service was excellent. No waiting and very attentive staff. We order almost all the appetizers and a couple of mocktails. The food was very tasty and plentiful for 4 people. The shishito peppers were hot but not unbearable to eat and the sauces were all so delicious. We also ordered the street tacos, the hummus, and the kabobs. The meats and veggies were fresh, very tasty and perfect sizes. I don't know why I never been to this place before, but now I do want to come back. It's so pretty inside and the outside is great now that the weather is getting nice. I want to come back to try an entre and have an actual dinner. What I had today was great. This place is gluten-free friendly, the staff was warm, personable, and genuinely eager to help. They also source locally whenever possible, which I love. Even my gluten-free bun was scratch-made by a local bakery--and it was so good I actually double-checked that it was truly gluten free. (It was!) I ordered the grilled shrimp burger with the bib salad, and both were outstanding--crisp bib lettuce, radish, red onion, cucumber, and goat cheese. The shrimp burger included blackened Cajun shrimp, creamy remoulade, a perfect slice of tomato, all stacked on that amazing GF bun. Fresh, bright, and delicious. I love when I have an opportunity to spend some time in Austin!! Especially when I can have dinner with my son and brother-in-law. We decided on District Kitchen because of the variety. It had been a minute since I had visited and was thrilled to be returning. The service was perfect, thank you Courtney, cordial and sweet. We did not need reservations, coming in around 7:50 PM on a Tuesday evening. Perfect ambiance, peaceful and candles on the tables. Love the menu options, for starters we had the Falafel Fritters, the Traditional Hummus (SO good) AND the bread. The bread is a must have. Absolutely delicious. Can't even describe how it melts in your mouth and so perfect. I ordered the Bison burger, medium, it was good. My son had the Lemon Shrimp Ravioli and liked it. My brother-in-law had the Chicken Milanese, he took some home for next day lunch because of all the appetizers. He also ordered a side of Goat Cheese Mashers and stated it was too much goat cheese, flavor wise not his favorite. Really good food and great presentation. A little on the pricey side for my taste, $200 for 3 people includes tip and one glass of alcohol each. This is solely my opinion, the cost of food is rising. Well worth the visit. Love a great HH. The drinks here are well poured and well made. They have plenty of food and drink options on theHH menu to meet a variety of people. The falafel was by far my favorite thing. It's pillowy and soft rather than being a hard puck. The lamb kebabs were well seasoned and very moist. Their hummus tasted very fresh and was very straightforward-- no frills-- but absolutely delicious. The restaurant was pretty empty so service was quick and parking was plentiful. We visited District Kitchen for brunch last minute with a party of 12, and they were able to seat us immediately with no wait, which was a pleasant surprise! I ordered a mimosa and the mushroom omelette, which was absolutely delicious. The combination of goat cheese and mushrooms was a fantastic pairing--something I wouldn't have thought of but really enjoyed. The smashed potatoes, however, were just okay. I had the Asian Crunch salad and it wasn't anything special. One friend really enjoyed the bison burger- she said it tasted just like a hamburger but better. My other friend enjoyed the Moroccan Curry bowl. The menu was diverse and a few more vegetarian options would make it very special! Service was awkward - interaction was a bit strange... Friendly but disconnected and the timing was off. Had the chicken Milanese, which was good. Like a chicken schnitzel with a kind of like mustard gravy but the broccoli was over spiced and the chicken needed more seasoning. Scallops were good, but the risotto was stodgy and tasted of mustard. (mustard must be their signature spice here) and my entrée. Caesar salad was fine but had two sad little anchovies on it after the server making a big deal of whether I wanted anchovies or not even though it's there on the menu. We waited for 10 minutes to get anyone to pay attention to us to be seated and there were only two other patrons in the restaurant. It was another 20 minutes before someone came to take our order and then after another 10 minutes someone else came to tell us that they could not make something we ordered because they had thrown out the boiling water. What? The food was ok when it finally came and it came with no apologies or recognition of the poor service. DRINKS diners here with my husband. He had the Porter beer and really enjoyed it. I just had a self directed mocktail, essentially soda, water cranberry with lime, which was perfectly fine. APPETIZER we had the homemade jalapeño cheese bread and it was really delicious. You could tell it was freshly made. The flavor was more mild than expected in a good way and it came with very soft butter, which was great. ENTREE my husband had the bison burger, he said it was good and asked me to take home the rest of his fries. He's a man a few words I'd say that means it was a good meal. // I had the Texas Wagyu beef, which I really enjoyed. It was cooked just right at medium rare . the potatoes were well cooked and seasoned I really liked the truffle sauce. The only element i didn't love was the onion rings. They were a bit greasy for my taste, but overall enjoyed the meal and took home leftovers. That's always a good sign. And we shared a side of the brocolli which was good though felt a bit bland compared to the other dishes . Was seasoned fine but that broccoli didn't have super green stalks. It was such a gorgeous day we decided to pop out for a quick happy hour on a patio. I always forget how close District is, and I'm so glad we remembered today. We went before 5, so it wasn't busy at all. Grabbed a great spot on the patio (which is dog friendly btw). Plenty of parking is always a plus in my book, and greeted by a friendly hostess. We had a Very friendly server and he made some great recommendations! The Karaage was absolutely delicious. Overall great experience and we will be back. Where to start?!?! Went here on a whim and was highly impressed. Food: Started with the truffle prosciutto toast and I recommend it for its contrast of flavors and different textures. You have the saltiness, the sweet dates, the Crunchy, the fresh arugula! For entrees, had the Texas Wagyu steak and sumac brined porkchop. This steak was melt in your mouth tender and great taste to the chimichurri! The red potatoes were soft and had a depth of seasoning. The server was kind and gave a good recommendation to add fried chicken to the heart breaker. The portion is massive. Chicken is cooked perfectly and the biscuits are so fluffy. Shakshuka didn't wow me but I liked the tomato sauce. Bacon beignets are SO GOOD. Our waiter was AWFUL! Our food was good but took WAY TOO LONG and our appetizers showed up BEFORE our drinks, which I had to go in and ask why were taking so long. Waiter, again, terrible.... At the end we thought he may comp something because this was an obviously bad experience. He did not. I politely said, "maybe a round of drinks for the table? that all took so long." the waiter was then COCKY as shit and did NOTHING. Super uncool and terrible experience.
