I wanted to like this place because is close to where I work. The "yellow" corn tortillas were not good, taste was bad, bland, and soggy. I tried the steak, chorizo and al pastor tacos. Very disappointed. Al pastor meat was dry and they top it off with canned pieces of pineapple (Cold). Anyways I'm mad just writing about it. Salsas were just ok. Worst fish tacos I've ever had - twice! First order came and the tortillas were icy, literally, like they'd come directly from the freezer. I'd asked for no chipotle mayo, yet they put it on anyway. I took them back, and they remade the order. The second batch had warm tortillas and no sauce as requested, but there was no discernible fish to be found. Under lots of cabbage there lurked some burnt fish crusts that's looked as I'd they'd been scraped off the bottom of the grill and were so salty I gave up. My spouse had one chicken taco and one beef taco. Fairly unremarkable EXCEPT for how salty they were. Won't be back. read more

This place deserves 5 stars for the experience had on opening day. The Al Pastor corn taco and steak flour taco, both jeffe way, was delish and seasoned very well. It smelled so gooid I forgot to take a pic :). Definitely the best tacos I've had in the area by far. Also, the staff were very personable and efficient. I haven't even had the food yet, and the customer service was terrible. The check out clerk Josue was terrible rude and impatient! I was alone and could not carry all the things I had in my had and I asked if he could help with assisting me with a bag he was like their over there just go get them: and I i was shocked by his attitude and rudeness then immediately called the next customer to kick me out the way. I almost dropped everything I had and no other employee asked if I needed help they just watched me struggle. I'm not even interest in trying the food here after that. I was looking forward to District Taco opening up here. I thought okay finally a quality taco place that will be better than Chiptole but it's all hype and not quality. I ordered three chicken tacos and paid around $13 bucks. The chicken isn't flavorful at all, it actually tasted like it was from a can if I am being honest. Chiptole's chicken is so much better and the price is better too. They also left out the guacamole which was extra. I called the facility to speak to someone to get my money back for the guacamole but no one answered, and that was kind of annoying. I don't want to check my food everytime before I get it to make sure everything is in the food. I did like that they had their own salsa bar and you can pick whatever salsa you wanted but otherwise, I don't think I'll be back except for my refund for the guacamole. read more

We were so excited that silver spring would be getting a district taco! It's clear from the lines on day two that there is a need for more variety here. First impression: It is so loud that anybody with PTSD will need to stay away. It's like a battle field with more shrill number shouting. There's an immediate anxiety upon walking in which is made worse by the metalic grinding of the benches on the concrete floor. Barbacoa taco- not sure why they gave us two tortillas as it had about 6 microscopic dry cubes of what may have been meat at one point and nothing else on the taco. Shrimp taco- best to eat in house. We live about 3/4 of a mile away and it was fall apart soggy by the time we got home. Decent flavors but nothing special. Carnitas Burrito- there needs to be some kind of burrito rolling course that emphasizes that the rice (all 2 pounds of it) need not take up the whole side of the burrito. Anytime I bit into the right side of the burrito it was a mouthful of very overcooked and under garlic/limed rice. The left side went like this: two mouthfulls of shredded cabbage (no frills at all), followed by two bites of grilled vegetables, followed by a bite each of beans first and then finally the meat. Which was a mixture of carnitas that was bland and one or two cubes of barbacoa which I didn't order. Oh yeah, and thanks for that hair mixed in with the shredded cabbage. That was about the only flavor it had. We are being harsh because we hope things change. We want this place to succeed as we would love to have a local place to frequent in a few months once they iron out the flaws. read more

I'm not quite understanding the buzz about this place (and a downtown DC location I also at at, where the food was identical). The food wasn't bad, but it was on the bland side. No kick, no pizzazz. Kind of uninspired. It felt like tacos I might try to make at home for the kids when I'm in a hurry. I expect something a little more exciting when I eat out. I thought I like DIstrict Taco before and it's been about a year since I've been in one, but now I'm not sure why. Glad to see shrimp tacos offered more days a week now but they were not worth the 3.79 that I paid for each. 5 measly VERY tiny (and I mean TINY) shrimp in each taco. The Al Pastor taco was marginally better but still very skimpy on the protein. The taste and quality just don't make up for the fact that the value just isn't there. I have been to District Taco in the past. This is a newer location in Silver Spring right across the street from the metro. So, very convenient. I prefer their flour tortillas over their corn tortillas which seem to fall apart as you're eating and makes for a mess. The flour tortilla holds together a lot better. Outside of the tortilla preferences there is plenty of space to sit and enjoy your meal and you get an abundance of food whether you order the tacos or the quesadillas there is still a good amount of filling in everything that they prepare. They are very clean and fast with preparing your order. read more

As a vegetarian I'm always happy to have more than just quesadillas as an option. Their itsa and guacamole tacos were both good but what set them apart was their salsa bar. I went back for more and will be back for their breakfast tacos which I've read here are pretty good. read more

I've been looking forward to them opening for a while so I was excited to check it out. I went at lunch time and around a 10 minute wait, not bad. I got a bowl, with chicken and "breakfast way." The eggs and chicken were good but that's pretty much it. Didn't have enough rice and beans, but the hot sauce was good. read more

Updating my original review back during their opening week... I will say their breakfast food is better than their entire lunch menu when it comes to taco or burrito options. I have now eaten at this particular location 6 times, 3 times for breakfast, 3 times for lunch. If I had to rate the food, the breakfast hits the spot with the size. If you add the extras and sauce, the food is not bland, and not overwhelming spicy (when adding jalapenos and pico). The carne asada can sometimes be a little over cooked, but that is to be expected with cubes. I would give the breakfast 4 out of 5 stars, and I will continue to go back. Their lunch portion is smaller (weird) and extremely bland for some reason. Apparently eggs and potatoes are seasoned well. I've tried pork, chicken and steak, and each time I've come away feeling hungry and underwhelmed. I don't like the fact you have to pay for queso or guac, but not everyone can be a qdoba (though they charge a quarter now for guac... still WAY better than $3.50 for queso and guac at DT). It doesn't amplify the burrito or bowl or taco enough to pay $11 for it. For the reasons above and the fact that it continues to be under-seasoned and priced the same as other chains, I would rate it a 2 out of 5. I would definitely recommend the breakfast burrito or bowl (preferably the bowl because of the messiness of the burrito) over the taco for the price point, and loading it up with the free extras that are offered. This review is specifically for their shrimp tacos. The shrimp they use must be the lowest equality because it tasted like the chemical they use when they freeze them. Plus they literally only put two tiny shrimps on my shrimp tacos. I suspect it was because I took my first order back and 'complained' because they mistakenly put cilantro, which I'm allergic to, even after I specifically told them not to. Needlessly I was not impressed. I guess I'll have stay away from this place from now on unless I'm dying of hunger and have no other choice. Sad. read more

Food was cold! Queso came in a tiny container with a huge bag of chips! I used Uber eats and the whole bottom of the bag is wet from dripping from the toppings. It wasn't Uber eats fault, whoever packed the food did a terrible job. read more

I hate to write a bad review during this difficult Covid time. But I have ordered food several times here and only one time was it good. Today I had the chicken quesadilla, and it was the worst I ever had. The host, Eddy, mixed my order. The lettuce served with my order was spoiled and should not be served to anyone. Let me preface this by saying I've only ever been to the District Taco in DC - and I'm a fan - so I was very excited to learn that DT was coming to Silver Spring. My wife and I have been looking forward to this location for a year. Unfortunately, it's not living up to the hype or the expectation. Tonight was our second time here and while the first time was great (maybe 4 stars), tonight was a completely different experience. First off, the restaurant was filthy - empty tables hadn't been wiped down and were littered with food and the floors looked as if they hadn't been swept in a week. When our food finally arrived, all three orders were lukewarm at best. Also, the portions and preparation were wildly inconsistent compared to our previous visit. I brought all of this up to the Manager on duty, who apologized (sort of), saying that they were understaffed and offered us a bag of chips for the inconvenience. Honestly, if this was my first visit to District Taco Silver Spring, I wouldn't go back. However, since our first visit was so much better, I'm torn. The tacos are good, but there are a few good taco places around, namely Taco Bamba, which is consistently excellent - and well worth the drive into DC. read more

So sad to write this but I fear DT has jumped the shark. As they have continued to expand, it's become pretty mediocre and this location has proven to be just that. Everything seemed to be way skimpier than it used to be. The kids quesadilla, which comes with a side of chips, literally had 4 chips. We could not help but laugh at how ridiculous it looked. The quesadilla had a sprinkling of cheese on it and was mostly plain flour tortilla. The fish taco had about a tablespoon size piece of fish on it. We won't return especially considering the much more authentic and cheaper places nearby. Seriously disappointing as we waited a long time for it to open. read more

Just finished my first taste of District Taco. Had the carnitas, barbacoa and al pastor. Each taco was bland and not distinguishable from the others. The dominate flavor was cilantro, and the fillings were quite skimpy. The tacos at Chipotle are much better. read more

First and last time there. We ordered nachos, fish tacos, and a rice and bean burrito. The nachos were all lettuce and sour cream with no discernible cheese. When I went to ask for some they said they were out and I would have to wait for it. The fish tacos were cold. And the simple rice and cheese burrito was $8. I would take Baja Fresh and Chipoltle, and even Taco Bell, over this place. read more

We decided to use District Taco to provide food for our kids' birthday party this summer. I was nervous as the SS location had only been open for less than two weeks at the time and I feared they would still be working through issues. Placed an order on the phone app for the Silver Spring location. Received an email later saying there was a problem with the order and instructed me to call the store for verification. The phone number provided in the email was for the Alexandria store. When I tracked down the SS store's number and called they were very unhelpful and dismissive. They didn't even ask if they could retake my order. Not a great way to cultivate new business. read more
