Honestly, I didn't know what to expect from this restaurant... but I'm happy to say that we were very pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere, decor and music were all incredible. The restaurant itself was an old house that looks like a castle, in the middle of Atlanta. Perfect for a date night! We wanted to try a little bit of a few dishes, so we got some potatoes for starters.. delicious. But the habanero sauce that comes with it, is no joke. Spicy! Then we got some chicken and beef kabobs with basmati rice. Delicious! And to finish it off.. we got some baklava with saffron ice cream. Yum!! I recently celebrated a friend's birthday at Divan, and it was my first time at their new location. I used to visit the old restaurant, but over time, it lost a bit of its appeal for me. Still, I was excited to check out this historic home. The inside is gorgeous. They did a great job with the space, and there are plenty of private rooms, which is great for events. One thing to note--there's an elevator, which some of the women in heels wished they had known about before climbing three flights of stairs. The elevator is functional, but I could see them making it a design highlight down the line. They also have several patios for outdoor dining, tucked into different corners of the home, which is a nice touch. Now, about the food. Divan offers both food and hookah, so naturally, one is going to stand out a bit more. The menu has a lot of choices, but I'd say the food was just okay. It looks nice on the plate, but aside from a couple of dishes, it feels like your standard Atlanta hookah restaurant. With places like Delbar, Yalda, and Rumi's in the mix, Divan is facing some stiff competition. It used to be the go-to restaurant, but for me, it's faded a bit. Still, I'd happily come back for hookah and some small bites, which seems to be their sweet spot now. The restaurant's atmosphere does give off a more premium feel than the food really matches. I had the beet salad, which was tasty, though the goat cheese was blended into a creamy sauce instead of chunks--still good, but I prefer the chunks. It was mostly arugula, and I missed the mandarin oranges. The lamb bolognese, though, was genuinely tasty. As for drinks, I had the Dragon's Tail and Persian Smash--both were fine, nothing extraordinary, but enjoyable enough. I have a feeling sitting on the main floor might offer a slightly better experience, but that's just a hunch. All in all, Divan is a great place if you're looking for a decent meal and hookah. It may not be the top choice if you're after the best regional cuisine, but if you want to relax, eat, and enjoy hookah it's a win! read more

My party of 3 had an 8:30 reservation on a Friday night. They got our table ready while we parked. Our table was in a small cozy room, which I found nice so that we could hear each other talk. Our server was great! I believe his name was Que. He gave us time to browse the menu and have honest feedback on the dishes we asked about, which was much appreciated! This was my first time coming but my family member have been here before. All of the food was well done. For starters we had the roasted cauliflower. It was well seasoned and the sauce underneath was great and went well with the crispy chickpeas. Between us we had the grilled tandoori wings, koobideh kabob, mussels, and salmon Alfredo. Everything was well seasoned and well cooked. The kabob was tender and even the rice accompaniment was well executed. We also had desserts and drinks which were great as well. Our group of four had ordered a significant amount of food and drinks. When our starters were served, the waitress informed us she would be joining the adjacent table to ours to accommodate our order. I placed a water bottle on that table in anticipation of this. A staff member named Andrew then approached us in an aggressive manner, repeatedly insisting that items should not be placed on other tables. I calmly explained that the waitress had advised us the tables would be joined. Despite this, he continued without allowing any explanation. The waitress herself confirmed the arrangement and was also met with the same attitude. We completed our meal and paid a bill of $240, plus a $50 tip. We then moved to the rooftop area for drinks. At this point, I posted a one-star review reflecting my dissatisfaction with Andrew's conduct and showed it to the waitress. Andrew then returned and told us to leave, adding that if we refused, matters could escalate physically. Following this verbal confrontation, we chose to leave. This experience was deeply unpleasant and unprofessional. Andrew's conduct -- aggressive, unapologetic, and ultimately threatening -- is unacceptable for any hospitality environment. There is simply no excuse for a manager to treat guests this way. We came to enjoy a meal, not to be spoken to with hostility. The food may have potential, but no dish is worth being treated with such disrespect. We will not be returning, and I would strongly caution others to be aware that if any issue arises, management may respond aggressively rather than with basic courtesy and care. read more

My husband and I visited for the first time yesterday 3/28/26 for our wedding anniversary. We enjoyed the most amazing dinner with top tier service. The restaurant seems that it used to be a home renovated into a 3 or 4 floor restaurant. It's more of an upscale vibe which I appreciate. Cocktails here are made in a way in which you only need 1 maybe 2 and the food is delicious! The complimentary dessert and champagne well a nice touch that we truly appreciated. I have had dinner there for several times. The food was delicious and unique, the dining area looked good, the service was not bad, but the restrooms were awful. Though labeled as a Persian restaurant, the food there is different from what you get in the most Persian restaurants in town. It is more like "bar food style Persian dishes with some Mediterranean twist". For appetizers, try the duck leg confit (my fav app), carrots with labneh or watermelon salad. For entree, I tried the koobideh kebab and beef shish kebab and both were good. Note that the ground meats they use for koobideh kebab was lean, thus making the kebab more dense--but it was not chewy at all. And if you do not want to carb-load, you can always sub the rice with other sides, such as the spicy-sour cauliflower. Plus, their naan is not as salty as those in e.g. Rumi's and Yalda. The staff there were friendly but sometimes it takes quite a while to order the food or to get my dishes. What I really do not like is the restrooms there. Pretty small, dated, and worst of all dirty (e.g. pee and paper towels scattered around). If they were cleaner I might give 5 stars lol read more

There's several seating options--upstairs, downstairs, bar, and rooftop. We both started with the Duck Leg Confit and it did not disappoint! The skin was nice a crispy with a glaze and the inside tender. My entrée selection was the Koobideh Kabob (ground beef & lamb, saffron, and roasted potatoes. A top tier experience from the valet to the presentation of the bill. High ceilings, cozy but elegant atmosphere, this is a great spot to date night or a family dinner. We started with the hummus duo, which included roasted chickpea hummus, tabouleh and a cucumber yogurt dip with a fig jam over it. Next, we had the goat cheese, which was covered in pickled fennel, honey, lemon and LOVE. If you don't have the goat cheese, you are cheating yourself. You can use the flatbread to eat the goat cheese like a dessert. Finally, we had the lamb burger with roasted cauliflower and the koubideh kebab with basmati rice. The cauliflower app was beautifully prepared, and despite my husband not liking eggplant, he loved ithe appetizer I ordered too. Spicy shrimp perfectly cooked, like the chicken kebab. Divans is a city gem for delicious food, tasty cocktails, and a more luxurious feel for dining. I've been a few times and I can confirm that the food is the standout while the service is just as amazing. My favorite server Thaddeus (unfortunately no longer with them) always made myself and my party feel special and catered to. Food: Valassaro Salmon Pasta 10/10: most delicious cut of salmon and a creamy sauce that is the perfect medium between thick yet loose enough to cover each noodle Lamb Chops 10/10: I don't know what they put as the glaze on these chops but it is absolutely the best! Sweet yet savory and not gamey at all. Not to mention the potatoes are divine! Oysters 8/10: these were on a special menu when I went so I am not sure if they will always have them but the vinegary sauce was a new twist that kept it fresh yet bursting with flavor Drinks: I honestly have tried majority of the cocktail menu and I will give it a solid 7/10. None of the flavors stand out for me personally but the espresso martini's were very good. All in all, Divan's is a classic go to for me due to the consistency of food and treatment! We had a fantastic time at divan. Parking was 20 dollars in the deck or valet for 10. Issue with valet is that it's on the main road so it causes a lot of traffic - to avoid sitting in the traffic we just parked in the deck that was 1 minute walking distance from the restaurant. Ambiance was great! Service was awesome. The appetizers were tasty - we ordered the spicy shrimp and hummus. Love when waiters are able to give suggestions of the most frequently ordered items without prodding. The food did not take along time to come out and they had both mocktails and cocktails - the mocktail was great (pink lady i believe was the name) Now the food - was delicious. We all got lamb chops. I dined in with my sorority sisters for our Founders' Day (skee-wee) and a server brought us a complimentary round of rose to celebrate. I also had a martini and that was good. Although we were a large group, the waitress split checks with no problem. The ambiance was dark and cute. I enjoyed the decor. Negatives: 1) no parking (valet is $11), and 2) I think management could do a better job training staff about menu items. When I asked where the oysters for the day were from, I was told "the Atlantic," which isn't a terrible response, but if you're going to offer certain items, prepare staff for the important questions. She followed up with "in the MA area," but the initial response put me off. Divan is conveniently located right across the street from the Atlanta Symphony. So, if you have a show, Divan is a great pre-show dinner! The drinks were delicious. They weren't the most unique, but very well mixed and great flavor. I forgot to take a picture of the oysters, but that was one of my favorites. Divan is known for their lamb chops, and they were very good, but not the best I've ever had. They also have some other options - I got a lamb bolognese. Again, good but not memorable. Persian and Mediterranean food is my favorite, but there are soooo many amazing places to compete so I'm not Divan is my top pick. I normally do not write restaurant reviews but after I experienced a not so stellar experience last night at Divan Restaurant & Bar, I am writing this one. The experience was not altogether bad, but it was certainly not a stellar experience. First, upon entering the doors and checking in with the receptionist, I was asked to wait to be seated. My parties reservation was at 6pm. I arrived at 5:55pm. Another couple who walked in after me after 6pm, had a reservation at 6pm and they were seated immediately. After waiting 10-15 minutes, one of the host attempted to direct us to where we would be seated. The host did not seem to know where this was. The first table was unsatisfactory, then we went another table that was positioned near the kitchen area. All of the tables near the kitchen area and the bathrooms, need to be removed. The odor was unfathomable. Imagine eating food and having to smell foul odors from the kitchen and bathroom. We experienced staff dragging trash cans with trash back and forth as we were eating. Our server was extremely nice, but she appeared to be overworked as she was torn between a lot of tables. 1) I should not have to ask for water. 2) The light on the table was not working properly, so we had to use our phones flashlight to view the menu. The server did not notice this. Another server who walked by noticed it and replaced the lamp on the table. 3) I should not have to continually ask for water. 4) We had to wait an execessive amount of time before the main entree arrived. We did get an apology advising that they were behind in the kitchen. I have been to DelBar and to Rumi's and they both super exceed the service level and the food of Divan Restaurant and Bar. Maybe the night I went was an exception to what everyone else is writing about this place, but it only takes one time for me to have a bad experience, and I no longer engage. I went with high hopes, but was extremely dissapointed. read more
