As a first time diver I didn't know what to expect, I had absolutely no idea what goes into diving, so before I got there I was hoping the instructors were patient with me and of course knowledgeable. They exceeded my expectations, Kent went above and beyond to make sure I felt safe so I could enjoy the dive. Not only that that followed up with me days after the trip, something that's rare with customer service. As of the dive itself, it was nice to do plenty of diving with little transit, boat was clean and gear looked taken care of and the crew was great. I loved this experience. I have always wanted to scuba dive, but just never have. I am not a big fan of most ocean water in CA, so I couldnt think of a better place than Hawaii to try this. The whole trip is about 4 hours long. My cousin and I went, there was a family of three, and one other person. The one single person was paired up with my cousin and I and we had Dylan as our instructor. Dylan was super nice, and very patient. The one single guy was having a hard time at first with some of the commands, and although I was semi irritated because I wanted to dive, Dylan never lost his cool. He kept going over the steps with the man. I thought that was cool. He was patient enough to keep going over the same thing. We went on a two tank dive. We saw all sorts of fish, turtles, and baby sharks. It was a really awesome experience. I cannot wait to go scuba diving again. read more

We dove with Dive Oahu just last month, (May). The boat was very clean, the crew professional and attentive and we really appreciated the attention to our gear prior to entering the water, (always a stress point for me). I do like the ratio of staff/divers as other boats I've been on I've felt were overcrowded and like I was on my own when entering the water. I for one would not hesitate to send family or friends to dive with them. I've read with interest what's happening in the local news about Dive Oahu winning the bid to serve the public with instruction and beach gear on the beaches in Honolulu. Honestly, when we learned that Dive Oahu won the bid for the beach, we were very happy about that. We've felt dismissed, gouged and humiliated when renting but had no choice. I "get" the whole culture thing but I'm getting a bit sick of the discrimination to us folks coming over from the mainland to enjoy "their" island. The Hawaiian Islands are a part of the good old USA and us "mainlanders" that come with money and time to enjoy the beach have kept I'm sure more that a few "old butts" employed. And I did not mind. But I'm very happy to learn the company that seems to have appreciated our business will be there for our next trip. If they operate the beach the way they do their boat dives, I'll try one of those boards you stand on next time over (August I hope). If, like I've read in the news, these "beach boys" really care about the Hawaiian traditions and customer service, why not offer to instruct as a contractor for the new company? With the anger shown by the previous bunch that lost this bid, it makes me wonder if there were people skimming or pocketing money and now their stream of income has come to an end? What a great Sunday morning dive trip. Tiffany our DM and Matt our captain were great. Sad I was missing my favorite NFL te open their season but after our first dive to the sea tiger and the second with a pregnant white tip and frog fish, some Honu and another shark Day was made!!! Nothing short of amazing. Tiffany, the DM or Dive Master, was down to earth and very helpful. Captain Randy was full of jokes and offered us food and drinks on his boat. They were both extremely hospitable and personable. New Equipment: I was reading one of the views below and saw that someone said the equipment was old. I am thankful, because my group and I were able to use all brand new, high-end equipment. Price: With the 20% discount it only cost around $112 and we got two tanks with all gear. Tip your guides also at the end!! Dives: The first dive was at most 53 feet and it was amazing. Even though visibility was at 30-40 my eyes were buzzing from the scenery. The weather temperature was perfect and there was lots of wildlife. On the second dive there were eels and blowfish! We also got to check out the huge underwater pipe off Kuala bay. We dove five weekdays mornings and an afternoon for a nice package price. Dive Oahu operates a nice Newton 46' out of the main harbor in Honolulu and that boat has a rinse buckets for your gear immediately after the dives. The staff is really knowledgeable and friendly and they gave us a nice rotation of the different wrecks across the week. I tweaked my NEXT trip to Oahu a day earlier so I can dive the Navy Tug and Ewa Pinnacles with them on a Wednesday, March 2nd. read more

Oh, my gosh, what a great time we had snorkeling! Saw so many turtles, and when it got too crowded with other divers and snorkelers, Captain Nacho took us to a quieter spot, where we could see all the way to the bottom of the ocean, 60+ feet! Great guides, boring/short dives I'm a certified PADI open water diver and decided to give diving in Oahu a try. Booked with this company since it has great reviews. The guides and driver were very knowledgeable and entertaining. I do wish the dives were longer though. We did two shallow dives and they were both approx 20-25 minutes. The portions of the reef we visited didn't have much coral and had okay amount of fish. Maybe this is the norm here but I'm used to longer dives where the guide will try and let you maximize your time underwater. In both dives, my buddy and I still had ~1500 psi left which I thought was alot given that these were shallow dives. Maybe the wreck dives will be better. read more

My friend, John John, referred me to this dive shop and I'm so glad that we took his recommendation! We spent 4th of July on the Anger Management with Captain Bud, Mike, Kris, Barry and the crew and they were rockstars! Diving was on my "must do" list for this trip, but I confess I hadn't dived in 5+ years and was enthusiastic but nervous. They had everything set up, which was awesome. Plenty of snacks and drinks to enjoy. Very informative briefings to keep us appraised of conditions (especially important as our originally planned site had poor conditions). High quality gear. As for the dive itself (and the main reason behind my 5 stars): although I'm certified, I'm definitely a total novice at this and when Mike saw that I was panicking, he immediately calmed me and gave me the direction and confidence to keep going. We completed the deeper wreck dive of the Sea Tiger, and another awesome reef/pipeline dive. We swam with sea turtles, eels and a shark! Mike even made sure my much more comfortable in the water hubby could chase the shark a little longer! There were also a few regulars/locals who were super friendly and put me at ease! Clearly this company draws and keeps great customers! Dive Oahu will be my go to dive shop on figure trips, and to send other friends! read more

My wife purchased me a Dive Oahu charter for my birthday and it was an amazing experience! I went out with Dylan, Daniel and Capt Neil to the Sea Tiger and reef 2 tank dive and it was a very professionally run dive. Dylan and Daniel were both very knowledgeable and conducted safety checks on my equipment (on top of our buddy checks) and, along with Capt Neil helped us into and out of the water on both dives. During the dives Dylan and Daniel pointed out sea turtles, a white tip reef shark and multiple fish that were very interesting to look at. They also followed the safety stops during the dives as required. Finally, unlike other dive charters, Dive Oahu focuses on the dive experience and doesn't waste unneeded surface time between dives and gets you to/from the harbor and dive sites very quickly. Loved that! Also, they offered water and granola bars but I'm not there to eat, I'm there to dive. I highly recommend Dive Oahu to anybody that wants an outstanding dive experience with well trained, knowledge Dive Masters and ship captain. read more

The bf and I wanted to try something different and decided to go scuba diving for the first time. I was anxious and nervous, but everyone was friendly after we started setting out. The captain and the crew members were all very helpful. They teach you the basics really fast, but if you listen then it's not difficult and you retain all of it while you're underwater. I love that they don't just release you in the water, but test you first. Everyone on the boat was really friendly and helpful. It was a great experience. The only thing I was disappointed in was the lack of animal life where we dived. We saw a pipeline of some kind and the water was murky. I wish it was clearer. I recently had the opportunity to dive with this company. The customer service is really very helpful. I called them multiple times prior to booking my reservations and they patiently answered all my queries. The early morning sunrise and sunset dives also worked out for me as I had to work during the day. I did the Sea Tiger, Horseshoe reef, Secrets, Pipe and Nautilus reef. Each one of them was a unique experience. I spotted a lot of white tip reef sharks, turtles, sea urchins, barracudas, etc. Chris(Adrian) is an amazing instructor and helped the group set up, kept an eye on each one of us during the deep wreck dive and night dives. Shelly and Joe(J?) were also very helpful and made me feel comfortable (this was my first boat dive and I haven't been diving for more than a year). At one point during the deep wreck dive I ran into shortage of air pretty fast and forgot to alert the instructor. Luckily for me, J was keeping a watch on my group, checked my air and promptly took me to the safety stop before any occurrence of trouble. I would recommend Dive Oahu for people who are looking for learning certifications and recreational diving experience. They have good array of snacks and hydrated drinks onboard. The crew is well experienced, most of them are dive masters and they make sure that you have a safe and enjoyable diving experience. read more

I have very mixed feelings about this dive shop. I went there to do referral dives for my rescue certification and Ed, the instructor, was fantastic. Ed = The dive shop itself could be better. I went to their Discovery Bay location 3 times, once to try and rent gear, and twice to settle up for the rescue dives... Well the gear rental experience didn't go well, the guy working didn't know how to rent gear so sent us to the NEX. That would've been fine except I'm not military and couldn't enter the shop without a sponsor. When I called the NEX location to see if someone was there to sponsor me they said no and suggested I go to Hickam AFB. Shockingly, same issue there. I finally gave up on renting gear from them and went to another shop. As for settling up for the rescue, the Discover Bay location hasn't been open every since the gear rental experience. Despite online hours saying they're open the location seems to be a ghost town. I image Dive Oahu is great for diving if you're military but for the standard Joe this place (except for Ed) was a major disappointment. read more

(We deal with Dive Oahu Dive Shop on Hickam for all booking, purchases, and courses) Did Reactivate about a month ago with Chris. Awesome class with lots of great info. Chris was very patient and informative as we went through all the skills. It had been quite a few years since my last dive, so this was a great refresher. I liked it so much I did Advanced Open Water this past weekend and it was even more awesomer!! (Yes, I know that's not a real word). I had Chris as an instructor again so I felt super comfortable with how all the dives went. We actually did 6 dives over the weekend but didn't get a night dive. The extra dive made up for it. The dives: we did Navy Tug for the wreck dive, we did Sea Tiger for the deep dive, and I think it was horseshoe or Keehi Pipe for the navigation dive. We also did Kewalo and maybe Nautilus. All great dives, mostly reef dives other than the two wrecks. If I had to say which was my fav I'd go with Sea Tiger because we saw a white tip shark and Navy Tug because we saw some rays and blowfish. We also saw two giant sea turtles just chillin' during one of the reef dives...all in all great experience and we will go back to do additional dives with Dive Oahu. The Boat: it does get a little crowded, but nothing unmanageable. The boat is new so it's nice and clean and well organized. The crew was amazing for both days. Randy was our Captain, he was great at explaining everything. I don't remember the rest of the crew names but they were all super nice and friendly. They have drinks and snacks on the boat which was a huge plus. There is also a bathroom. Doing a night dive this week with the same company. They also have a dive club that is well worth the price for the discounts alone. read more

Me and my girlfriend traveled from Los Angeles to Hawaii eager to go scuba diving. Dive O'ahu was more than what we expected. The staff is very professional and courteous. They are very patient and skilled. The skills training was very thorough our instructor Kali gave us exceptional training and made us feel confident before the dive. Kali really made the experience better than we thought. Overall an amazing experience and I will be back again. The captain had the best playlist ever he kept us jamming the entire time. When you finish your dive you earn a credit toward your PADI diving certification if you choose to become certified down the road. The credit is recorded for a year. I really enjoyed my time with the crew and the small group. I can't wait to do it again!!! Thank you Kali and the crew you guys are the FREAKING BEST. July 22, 2019 Boat Captain'd by Lyndsey and my son's dive instructor was Cathleene aka "Cat". He's 11 years old, completing his open water PADI license (1st ocean dive) and a good kid, but I was paying attention to his instructor and how the boat was run. Being a former mariner, I was extremely pleased how the Captain ran the boat; boat brief, safely brief, role call, order of divers, management of staff, boat handling, interaction with divers, attention to safety... very safe. Cat was very patient, firm and gave clear directions and instructions... couldn't be happier! I was planning on being an attentive permanent third diver, but she clearly had everything under control and my son completed his required tasks and had a great time. I completed the open water diver course with Dive Oahu instructor Jack Miller. Jack was great as an instructor. He knew the information very well and kept the course moving at the right pace. I initially struggled with clearing my mask and removing my mask and Jack was very patient with me and helped me get over my fears. The company provided everything I needed and was ready to answer my questions. Shop staff is very knowledgeable on equipment and even helped me find a mask that would fit my skinny face.
