I've taken a half dozen mixed-level group classes with Emily and they've all been fantastic.

OHI is an education that everyone should receive. I truly believe that if everyone went to a place…read morelike this for this education it would change the world. After years of encouragement from my wife, I finally relented and went on a retreat with her. When we got there I decided that my mantra was "I am here" and committed to it fully. Going to every class I could, following the strict diet, doing the exercises, and on and on. Detoxing from coffee was tough and I experienced massive hunger pains. When that was over I found myself a changed person. Every little nagging health issue I had was gone by Thursday of the first week and I dropped 15lbs. Even things I forgot about. Whether that stays is now up to me. The education they give, combined with immediate lived experience is undeniable and unforgettable. You cannot unsee it. I am not speaking in hyperbole when I say it was one of the most profound weeks of my life. You can go to a hospital to treat individual issues, keep slamming cheeseburgers, treat the symptoms or you can learn how the human body is designed to live and watch it heal itself. If you're looking at this review thinking about it, you owe it to yourself to go. Yes, it looks a bit like grandma's house in a neighborhood in Lemon Grove. Get over it. You're not here to watch TV or laze around in a pool. You're here to do work, so come and do the work and be rewarded. It is an incredibly special place. Also - I went with my wife and I would recommend that couples go together. If one person learns all of this and you return home to someone who didn't learn and experience the same stuff, it's impossible to convey this information with the same impact. You'll probably go back to the old ways when one of you wants to eat sprouts and the other chinese food. It was also a wonderful bonding experience for both of us.

I attended their monday evening oneness blessing many years ago, and my boyfriend and his mom suggested we go (i mean it had been so long..and why!?) yesterday, but we were not sure they still had it on monday nights. We arrived at 7 pm to find Katherine (the gentle soul who does the blessings) leaving, with the parking lot empty. We were so sad until she let us know that she was heading over to the golden hills community center where they hold the blessing every other week. We raced over there just in time. The blessing consists of a short centering meditation followed by approximately 1.5 hours of the people conducting the blessings laying their hands over your head. After this you lie down and take in the blessing. It was a wonderful experience, and everyone there was so welcoming and inviting. I am not sure why I haven't been in many years. It is amazing that this is free, and that people donate their time to essentially give all their energy and healing to you for 2 straight hours. I am so happy that this place exsists. I hear they have a lovely gift shop with many amazing crystal specimens and yoga also. I have been looking for a place to do yoga, and this may be the place!

The perfect yoga teacher is here and living amongst us! Her name is Catherine Rose…read more Her meticulous attention to detail, with every student, leaves me in awe. It's mind boggling how she knows that your foot, arm, head, etc. needs to move just one to two inches to get the most out of each pose. Her precision to breathing benefits us all, long after we've left her studio. Her meditative voice is intoxicating. It's as if any worries of the day are not allowed into this sacred place. Catherine's hypnotic tone gently engulfs your mind and you willingly surrender to a welcoming calm. I have searched for several years for the "perfect" yoga class, one that is peaceful, serene, loving and still offers deep poses and gentle stretches. I am so grateful I found Heart and Soul, a small intimate yoga studio giving me all I've wanted and much more. I travel from Point Loma to La Mesa because I want the best and it's well worth it.

How do you write a love letter to yoga? Although I dabbled with this ancient art in my early 20's I…read morenever quite grasped the beauty and the benefits - especially of HOT YOGA!! It wasn't until my mature 40's that I realized you don't need to run marathons, do 2 hour workouts or CrossFit into injury for excise!! Not only are the teachers TOPS in their practice, but I have made friends of my fellow yogis. It's a very communal studio and I thoroughly enjoy the vibe

I asked if they had a water station, which I was given attitude as well for asking this question. It's as if a water station is not a normal thing at a work out studio so I don't understand the attitude in the response. They probably wanted me to buy their water which I can understand, however it was the attitude given to me that bothered me. I took a break outside of the class and there were other girls outside taking a break as well, indicating that they had empty water bottles and the heat was too much for them but they didn't have any water. I gave more stars than I wanted because of the instructor, Sam. She was so nice and accommodating and I loved her energy. She checked in on the people taking breaks, I appreciated her teaching the class!

If you're looking for an incredible reformer Pilates instructor, TRACY FORD is it. She's been…read moreteaching for years and it shows in every single class. Tracy is always professional, always welcoming, and I genuinely don't think I've ever seen her without a smile. Her classes are creative and never repetitive -- every session feels fresh, challenging, and thoughtfully put together. Her cueing is seriously perfection (the kind where you feel muscles you didn't even know you had ). She uses real anatomy terms, explains things clearly, and makes sure everyone understands what to do and why. And on top of that, she's hilarious -- her little comments throughout class keep it fun while you're shaking. One of the things I appreciate most is how great she is at modifying for injuries and prenatal clients. She's extremely knowledgeable and makes everyone feel supported without ever making it a big deal. The fact that her classes are always full says it all -- Tracy brings the best energy, the best instruction, and you can tell how much she truly loves Pilates. She puts so much effort into planning each class every week, and it really shows. The owners are so lucky to have her -- and so are the clients. Highly recommend!

Although they were really big on making sure you have grippy socks (I think they left two VMs about it and texted twice), other than that, it was pretty seamless: I signed up, showed up, and they did not try to sell me on anything. I took the class, and they did a 2 minute speal after, but they let everyone leave when it was over, and there was no pressure to buy a package, which I really appreciated. In sum, the study is very clean, the instructor was very nice, and I really enjoyed the class. If I didn't have access to free pilates, I might be interested.
