We were in town for a Texas A&M game and stopped by the Dixie Chicken a couple of times, once on a Saturday after the game and again on a Sunday. They were very different experiences. On game day, it is extremely busy with fans. The food lines are huge (so long we were not able to get food) and Is packed. We were very lucky to find a picnic table in front of a TV. There is also if atmosphere--at one end are a couple of rattlers. The place is really run down with graffiti everywhere, but comfortable. They serve the typical bar food which people seem to love. As noted above, there is a long line to order and then you wait for you name to be called. They have a nice selection of draft beers. I had a Yuengling Lager and a Blue Moon. The staff is very busy, but friendly. Do not expect table service, you need to get your drinks at the bar and they carefully work your way through the crowd. Sunday was a different experience. Even though there were NFL games on, we had a whole big room just about to ourselves. I get the feeling this Northgate area thrives on game day, but not so busy on other days.

The Dixie Chicken is the ultimate College Station/Northgate staple restaurant you MUST visit! They have a full bar and many beer options, great cheeseburgers and Tijuana fries (make sure to add bacon and jalapeños)! We go here during random Cstat trips, before or after games and anytime we have guests in town. There's pool tables and dominos available to play as well. Make sure to carve your name somewhere as that's a tradition.

A must go to when in CS. I've visited TAMU four times in the past 30 years and this was my first adventure to the Chicken. I had the overpriced 2 chicken tender meal. It had a ton of fries, gravy - as requested- on the side. Two flat chicken tenders. Texas toast. But the atmosphere is why you go. The guys at the order counter were friendly and the food prep folks were busy. Maybe hit the bathroom before you arrive and then where you're headed after your meal. Must see: the rattlesnake.

A beautiful Aggie gem. When you walk in, no matter the class year, you be greeted with honor! However, you must pay to park, so not the most friendly spot if you want free parking. The cheese fries are so good and a large amount to share with friends. The food is honestly basic but willing to give it an all a try!

Only had time to get Tijuana fries to go and share. Had to eat at picnic table out back bc inside was PACKED as usual after mcneese game. That's ok-I spent enough time inside in the 90's always stop in when we are in town. Non game weekends and off season you can actually get a table with your fam during the day.

Good other than facilities. Burgers or chicken options. Fries and tots. It's a college bar so bathrooms are a dump, like disaster. Maybe that's the ambiance but just trying to have a beer and burgers. Suggestion - use the public facilities in the parking lot... way nicer.

Exactly what you expect from a college town dive. Pepper gravy is great! We were there when classes were out and on a weeknight, so overall it was quiet

10/10 love this place. The environment is lively and the people working are amazing. Every time I come here I get the meat and cheese tray. It always reminds me of when I used to come there during college. The seating was packed because of game day but plenty of Aggies squeezed in and made room for others.

Not a bad place to kill a few hours. Good burger and beer kinda place that's not pretentious. Go check out the rattlesnake.

Bartender was really rude, basically told us to get our own drink, and mixed up our tabs

What a phenomenal place. Their burgers are as good as you will find anywhere! The vibe and service are an added blessing.

ZERO STARS. Not wheelchair accessible. Not ADA compliant. Staff was unwilling to help and quite frankly, incompetent.

I'm not often as impressed as I am by Rough Draught. Awesome, awesome selection. Good people who enjoy talking whiskey. The interior and decoration and walls - it all just GOES. It's perfect. Sadly they were out of a key ingredient or two to make pizza when we were there - during Thanksgiving week, so... not "normal" timing - so we sadly could not try their pizza. But we enjoyed multiple great pours, some good cocktails, great conversation, and exploring all of the details in the decor. A staple for any visit I'll be making to College Station and Aggieland.

You place your order, they make your burger and it goes from the grill to the bun. Nice and greasy like it should be. Chicken Oil has become so packed you can't move. The burgers have become an assembly line. They cook 10-20 and toss them in a pan where they sit until it's moved down the line. Dry & cold. Koppe Bridge has a wonderful atmosphere. Old school country music playing. Creaky wooden floors. The one thing I CAN give the edge to Chicken Oil is the friendly and helpful staff! Because honestly..I've eaten at Koppe numerous times and literally every single time, the girls in the front are essentially snotty Sorority-type girls. Always different girls but always the same type. (Rude, eye rolls, zero friendly customer service). Maybe they need to hire staff based on personality and not how cute they are.

I've had their burgers so many times that it should be rated on Texas Monthly. They are great. This time I changed it up and went with the chicken friend steak sandwich basket. The parking seems small, but just circle around. Whatever side you come on, go to the "back" and you'll find room. When you come in go straight to the cash registers and place your order/state your name. Grab your drinks and find a seat. Pay attention because when the guy screams your name into the cheap-axst speaker system, you might loose it. Consider it an audiology exam. If you come in with a parent that was on Peanuts, they will understand the PA perfectly. Everyone else takes their chances. With the basket you get a PILE of bar fries. They are great and there's a mountain of them. This alone should lure you in. I went with the chicket fried steak sandwich. Very tasty, but for some reason I thought it would come with gravy. Nope. If that changes your impression of a chicken fried steak, you may want to pass. I just covered it in ketchup and enjoyed the change up. Pro-Tip: Don't even try to come here on game days.
