Well, the Arc Apartments offer a fine solution to your pickle. Not far from the similar proposition offered by Premier Apartments, Arc wins for me due to its even more effort-erasing location - you'll find it easy, the entrance to the lobby up on the second floor of the Arcadian complex. If one of your party's driven, you'll also be able to book a spot on the Acadian car park when you book the room. Of course, all this wouldn't matter if the rooms themselves were rubbish - but, thankfully, for what most people utilising them need this ticks all the boxes. You can choose between one and two bedroom apartments, each one offering a spacious general living room area and a dining table area if you happen to be planning on rustling something up rather than visiting one of the many neighbouring food establishments. The beds are comfy, the decor amiable enough, and there's free wi-fi too - a bonus considering Premier charges. Don't expect a great view or anything (you won't get one) but this is a great option if you're looking to accommodate a large party - spread two groups of four or five across two rooms and you're sorted for a stay!

The rooms are self catering sort of places where you have a lounge area with kitchen fitted with all the essential selections that you would ever need. Beds where too comfortable, probably too soft lots of space to hang and store your gear. At night I could hear music from a nearby bar, I'd didn't help that they where under the building where we where staying. In the week that our group where there the apartments where not serviced once. At weekends if you go out and come in after 11pm there is a guy that stands at the entrance ready to interrogate you.

The Rotunda boasts the highest open balcony in Birmingham, so the views are really fabulous (although maybe not for the very faint of heart). The penthouse has one wall which is entirely floor to ceiling windows with a panoramic view of Birmingham and the Bullring, including St Martin's church. The apartment has two double (king) bedrooms, each with an en suite. One has a good sized bath with a rain head shower, both have hair dryers and bathrobes. The central living area, which contains a fully equipped kitchen, has a large flat screen TV with Sky TV plus an iPod dock with speakers. It's the little touches, and the service which makes this special. There is milk and oranges (for juicing) in the fridge, mueslis, ground coffee (from Urban Coffee) tea and hot chocolate. It's an eco conscious place with Ecover washing powders for the dishwasher and washing machine, and vegetarian shampoo and soaps. It is immaculately clean and the general manager Gavin is very approachable and helpful. With Twiggy-style models adorning the walls on canvas, if looks very cool too. The next day we felt totally zen. Worth coming back just for that!

They sent me a text after I arrived to welcome me and ask me if i needed anything, which was great! There were oranges and a pint of milk waiting in the fridge! I don't know why oranges were living in the fridge but I do know they were from the Birmingham Markets! This is the Rotunda! If one of your friends wants somewhere to stay in Birmingham that isn't a hotel. This should be your first suggestion! Out of the main entrance you are right in the middle of Birmingham with food and drink everywhere! My really lovely room was a studio with a half wall to keep the bed feeling like it wasn't right in the living room! If you are single or happy to hear everything your other half is doing then this is the apartment for you! They also do one and two bed apartments on different floors. Each has Sky, Blu Ray, Microwave, Cooker, Coffee Machine, Toaster & a coffee maker! This is a very different review to the one I did for work! I've cut to the chase and give you a whole bunch of facts! Bring friends and have a dinner party! Make sure they are gone by 11pm as there is a fee for late night guests! There's even fluffy dressing gowns in the bathroom to make you feel like you are in 80s porn! Loved it!

The location is really good too- right in the heart of the bullring and moments away from New Street Station. The location was fairly convenient from the public transit from the airport. It wasn't a problem for me, but there was a good deal of walking slightly uphill so for some people that's going to be a no go. It's easy to get a rideshare for traveling to the airport. That's what I ended up doing when I left. The hotel lobby has a little area for food for sale and I had to laugh that one of the things offered was Chicago deep dish pizza. Something I really liked is that staying here gives you free access to their laundry services on the second and fourth floor. There's only one washer and dryer per floor (at least on the fourth floor that was the case) so it can be challenging to get to it when it's empty. But if you can, the front desk will sell you a detergent pod for $.50. Something that I normally wouldn't point out but really appreciated was a digital thermostat. Some of the much more expensive hotels I stayed at during my UK trip didn't have that and I really came to appreciate it, especially for dealing with Celsius. The only real complaint I had was that I thought the bed and pillows were uncomfortable. But this place cost less than half of what some of the other places I stayed at charged and I thought it was almost as nice. I would definitely stay here again.
