We wanted old school/funk jams but wanted to keep it clean. He read the room really well. When dining it was nice background music and when the party started we never left the dance floor! We hired DJ Phil for our wedding in November. It was an indoor ceremony and indoor reception at The River Mill. He was set up in both event rooms. He was incredibly easy to work with, personable, and affordable. We discussed song details and we were able to provide lists of songs we wanted to be played throughout the event. He also provided a space to provide a "do not play" list. There was some initial apprehension toward having a DJ because every wedding or event we'd been to featured a DJ interjecting throughout the entire event like it was a comedy show, which never sat well with us. DJ Phil on the other hand wasn't that type. He laid pretty low and would crack jokes directly between us, rather than over a microphone. He did a great job emceeing where appropriately timed and I truly felt he did an incredible job honoring our event. I was worried that with our smaller guest list that people wouldn't get out and dance... but DJ Phil put a spell on people and everyone was dancing - even my husband danced for a brief moment beyond our first dance and that's a miracle. The sound levels were perfect. The overall song selection was perfect (minus the Macarena which sneaked in to haunt me, but was my fault for not putting it on the "do not play" list. It did become a laughing point with me and my bridal party though as we were just talking about that song while getting ready early in the day). Our family and friends had an incredible time dancing the night away. My friends still rave about the entire wedding, emphasizing the dance party. We had him for our wedding on July 10, 2022! He was awesome. Flexible, easy to work with, knows his equipment, makes picking songs out pretty easy, very experienced, has playlists ready for different genres, and most importantly he was adaptive on the day of. Things usually don't go as planned on the actual wedding day, so having a DJ that can MC on the fly and adapt with the flow makes a big difference, especially in the reception. We had some wedding blunders like the brides father missing in action for the father daughter dance, Phil ran to go find him while keeping the party going! He was funny, entertaining, & very easy to work with. The form he had to help plan music actually helped me organize my big day! Phil was the DJ for my wedding and let me tell you, I have been to many weddings and events and he is quite frankly top tier. Not only did he keep the atmosphere up and lively into the night he managed the transitions flawlessly. He honored our requests and was able to que on people's moods and what songs everyone seemed to enjoy. For the whole night at least 100 of our 120 guests were on the dance floor at any given time. Didn't matter what age. He was also fantastic with changing plans on the fly when we had to move our cake cutting to a sooner time do to it leaning. There was never a lull or an aquard pause.
