I was referred to this location by a friend and stopped yesterday to inquire about appointments. It is done online and I was shocked that I could get one for the following day. This place is absolutely fabulous. It has been here since 1925 and uses most if not all of the original fixtures and haircuts are done the old-school way. They have a large clientele, but it's never a long wait, they turn the chairs very efficiently. And the cut is the way I want it. I called to inquire about how good they were at beard trims and the 8.8 answer they gave me gave me confidence that they were likely honest and had a good sense of humor. Came in on a Saturday and they was a four deep wait for the one person working. The shop is set up great, very inviting and comfortable. As the wait went on, additional barbers showed up and the wait wasn't bad. Nico and the staff were super personable and did a great job with the customers. But to the important part, the beard trim. I have had my face locks trimmed multiple times and in multiple states (geographic and length) and this was the best one I have had. Shorten sides and the length at the bottom was kept. Typically there ends up a ridge between the sides and the front, making it look like a strange goatee, but Nico nailed it. I know this only because my wife has praised it multiple times over the past two days. That in itself makes it a clear win!

You will feel the difference when you walk in the door to the Gents Quarters. First the atmosphere. Then they will offer you a drink from their fully stocked bars. That is all before you get to the hair cut. Zach made great conversation during my appointment and the end product (which by the way this was for my wedding) was perfect. First, don't believe the Yelp "more info" panel that says appointments aren't necessary. When I went there for a walk-in appointment they told me they couldn't cut my hair because no stylists were on duty that day for CGQ. So, just to make sure my trip to Franklin Lakes wasn't a complete waste of time, I made an appointment for my first haircut. I said, it was very nice. Now I'm trying to make my next appointment and no one's answering the phone. The message tells me to just, "go to 'DemandForce' to make an appointment." Okay. So I go to demandforce.com, and it's the corporate site of a firm that helps businesses with online marketing. There's absolutely nothing to do with CGQ on the site, other than a screenshot of how a "salon" could use DemandForce to integrate their appointment scheduling into their Yelp page (hint, hint CGQ?). I finally turned to Google for help, searching for "demand force chateau salon." That brought me to a local.demandforce.com page with a "Schedule an Appointment" button and more reviews. I would have gladly given CGQ 4-5 stars if not for the hoops I've had to jump through just to give them my business. Whoever's responsible for CGQ's web site needs to get the "Schedule an Appointment" button integrated into the site, and whoever does their Yelp page needs to put it there too. And as for the answering machine message, set up a FREE TinyURL shortened link to the scheduling page and provide that instead of just saying "go to DemandForce." Here, I created one for them free of consulting fee - http://tinyurl.com/chateausalon. Or maybe CGQ just doesn't want any more business?
