Great collection and mix of vintage arcade games and pinball. Seriously worth a trip if you want to relive the heydays!

This place is great! It is very nice inside and the staff is great. The bar is very extensive and I lost track of the number of craft beers they had on tap. You can order food from the bar, which is supplied by Gioninos next door. We ordered from the bar and the food was great! The arcade has a great assortment of classic video games that you'll remember from the early arcade games, and best of all, they are free to play! They also have a wide assortment of very good pinball machines that cost 50 cents per play. I played for quite a while on $2. DK. DK Effect is another barcade. It uses tokens to play the games. These come free with beer. It's similar to many others of this concept. The games are mostly classics and fun playing. A beer is about $5 for a pint, most of which are local. It has the local breweries including Warped Wing. There's also many others to choose. If you get a beer, you will get 10 tokens. These are allowed to be used in any of the arcade games. Pinball you have to pay for. The arcades include Galacta and Tekken. It has many fighting games, but there are some sports ones like baseball. I was rudely treated by the bartenDee who has a long beard and is bald headed.. I came in with two females and ordered our drinks, when the bartender was being very rude to us about how we wanted our drinks.. When I asked the bartender to get us a lemon, he then reach over and grabbed the fruit with his bare hand! I told him that we didn't want the fruit and he got very hostile and told us to leave! I was shocked but looks like it was because of our race, but he was very disrespectful and threw my card across the room when I turned around away from him to see what the commotion was going on behind me. When I turned around it was my company in a fight with a bar patron. So I'm trying to diffuse the situation, and the bartender calls like 6 guys to surround me. I explained to all of them not to lay a hand on me. As I walked my company out with me making sure they wer assaulted again, the bartender calls more people to join his shouting at us.. This was assault and I will be getting my attorney to investigate this situation.... read more

A cool barcade with FREE SKEEBALL!! In Columbus, we have several barcades but none of them have skeeball, so I was thrilled that this one has two lanes for free (complimentary with beverage purchase, of course). I also really liked the laid-back and unassuming vibe of this place. Several of the barcades in Columbus are... how do you say... pretentious? Full of young hipsters? I don't know if saying that means I'm officially old, but whatever. I did visit on a Sunday afternoon, so perhaps this place is crowded and annoying on a weekend night like the rest of them are. Huge draft list of local and non-local beers, including ciders and some cocktails. They appear to have a full bar if you wanted liquor. There are several food options nearby to bring food in, and a good amount of seating. The drink prices are good, and there is a nice variety of games represented. Ehhh... I was not really feeling it when I ventured here with some friends last week. The vibe just felt "off" to me. First things first, I had to check out the bar scene, and when inquiring about drinks the bartender either wasn't knowledgeable (on their menu nor the special Tuesday Margarita edition) or just didn't feel like being bothered. In my opinion is was the latter of the two, but nonetheless I ended up with a Tito's Vodka x Tonic. The price of my drink wasn't too bad and it was buzz-worthy. So what is one to expect? There are PLENTY of arcade games to choose from, and you receive tokens when you purchase a drink. I cannot remember how many I received, but I do know I did not not stay long enough to use them all. If you are looking for a bite to eat while in there, I do believe they sell pizza from the Pizza Factory by the slice, Taco Tuesday is up and running, and there is a Mexican restaurant across the street. I was mostly impressed by the skee-ball machine, and spent some of my tokens playing it. Right next to it is a gun shooting game, that seemed to be really popular *insert major eye roll here*. After a few plays of skee-ball and my one vodka x tonic, I was ready to roll out. So although I wasn't really feeling this place, I'm not throwing the towel in yet. See, kids...back 100 years ago before PlayStations & Xboxes, we had to venture to these places called arcades ( pronounced AR-kaid ) and in these arcades were all the things that our parents didn't like: video games, pool tables, dark rooms and shady older kids. So you know that's EXACTLY where we all wanted to go. These magical lairs were so much fun...and now, thanks to DK Effect, it's back! DK Effect is all the fun we 70s and 80s kids had, but with a modern twist... You walk in and are greeted with a multitude of arcade games from the golden age: Donkey Kong, Galaga, Asteroids, Pac-Man, Space Invaders... just to name a few. They also have Skee Ball, miniature bowling, that punching bag game and a couple of pinball machines ( although the PinBot machine is in need of maintenance ) and the best part: A FULLY STOCKED BAR! They sure didn't have that back when I was a zit-faced teenager! Tons of craft beer selections and liquor...aw yeah! Playing great music on the system as well...on three different days, they played classic rock, grunge and classic hip-hop. Game tokens are handed out with drink purchases, so essentially the games are free...that DEFINITELY wasn't part of the old school arcades! So anyways, go check it out...one of the coolest places in Dayton. It doesn't have that overpriced feel of Dave & Buster's, where you never really know how much you're spending with their weird credit system. Some things could be changed...only open til midnight on Friday &Saturday when I wished they stayed open til 2:30a...but I'm not complaining. This past weekend was my 3rd time at DK Effect. The first time I went with some of my students and learned that it was actually a very family friendly place. They have 60 arcade games from several generations (Ex. Ms. Pacman and Street Fighter). They have great drafts and great mixed drinks. The last time I visited DK Effect was on my birthday. All of my guests had a great time. On top of that, the staff whether in person or over the phone have been courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. DK Effect, you truly have let me down :( I have been trying to get over to DK Effect for quite some time now. I was aware that they were opening but being that they are slightly on the East side of Dayton, when I'm thinking about making a move its not always top on my list. Last week I finally got the opportunity to check it out and I wish I could go back and start it all over again, let me tell you why: When I arrived I was blown away by how many different video games and arcade games in general they had ( They do have Skee Ball) and secondly when I thought I was looking at the menu I was really looking at the high score board. I asked the female bartender that night what the specials were and she couldn't really tell me so instead of ordering a drink because I didn't feel comfortable in her skills I just got a Coke. The Coke was great but along with it came so tokens to play the games which I also thought was neat. I felt like once I ordered the Coke both bartenders didn't really have time for me when I went back for a refill so I just continued to enjoy the games. I heard a couple of women next to me asking about the margarita flights that they advertise and she basically just said they were colorful. This place is great! For only being in business for 9 months they really have their act together. Excellent beer selection with clear menus of what they have on draft and the games were fun as well! This is hands down one of my favorite places in my City!! They have video games old arcade style, and switch them out regularly. Games like mortal combat, wrestle mania, Feiffer, original Mario, donkey king, arch rivals, space invaders and sooooo many more!! All of the Beer on tap is local and delicious. You get tokens with each beer purchase too. Most games require.25=1 token, I mean can it get any better? I only wish it were open past 12...maybe 1 or 2. My husband and I love to come and try some new beers and play classic video games. Lots of craft beers to try and games to play. The games are now token free. This is the only place that I've been to that is as much fun for a family or a group of adult friends. Somedays I come here and play with my kids but its also my friends' favorite bar to hand out in. The video games are fun, the drinks are well priced but the great thing about it is the chill environment. I really appreciate having a bar that you can sit for a while, walk around or stand at the high-top tables. It makes it easier to hang out for a while. read more

Do not go here to play pinball. The machines are overpriced, and not at all maintained or set up properly. Environment is stale.

Brooke is the best bartender within a 100 mile radius. She gives great recommendations and gives the best smile while doing it. She loves her job and makes coming here more important than the great arcade games. Come in and meet her! read more

The place was pretty nice and inviting, and the beer selection was great. But the game selection was lacking. My friend and I were playing an arcade game and the joysticks just came loose from the cabinet and there were a couple more that didn't even work. The whole toke System is very flawed, the games should be on free play. read more

Went Tuesday night to check it out of their tacos and tequila night! Really cool joint! Four rows of endless games and ski ball!! All games are just one token. Center drinks at the bar get you eight free tokens then I believe it's 5 for a dollar. Staff was awesome. Some buddy's grabbed tacos from across the street and brought back to eat inside and half way thur the meal the female bartender was rude as shit and said the food had to go. Blah blah that only food from next door was aloud now since they own the place next door, Instead of hey you are a customers that are in here drinking and hanging out that didn't know/ new so go head and finish but next time no food other then from next door. Fun place! A lot of beer choices to choose from. They have a good selection of games to play. We came here on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't too busy.
