I totally forgot that I had to renew my license on my birthday. I went to the dmv website to renew online and my only option was to come in person. Little did I know appointments were booked out for 3 months!!! I searched up to a 100 mile radius for an appointment elsewhere and the earliest and closest option was an hour away. It was that or wait in line all day. I drove the hour, got there 45 mins early and the line was still wrapped around the building. It was 730 am and freezing cold. I stood in line for about 20 mins and one of the workers came outside and asked if anyone had an appointment. I raised my hand quick and was let inside early!!! It took less than 10 minutes for my renewal. I was so happy! Not to mention the renewal lady was extremely nice and let me run back to my car because I forgot the paperwork I needed. Dmv Drivers License - Ugh - Graham, North Carolina

NC DMVs are severely understaffed. The front desk receptionist was very nice to me and she was helpful to process my renewal. I just don't recommend visiting without an appointment, but how you get an appointment beats me because there were no available appointments at any day or time to select online anywhere in NC. I was a walk in. I waited one hour to check in. The waiting room is small. They had you scan a QR code and said go have lunch and come back. The QR code gave wait time status updates. I did just that. There are no chairs outside for the elderly to sit. Most people who weren't allowed to wait in the waiting room had to wait in their cars. I waited a total of 3 hours for a 6 minute renewal process. At one point around 2:30, they were turning people away. You need a lot of patience and if you wait in line or the lobby, please don't stand or sit there and talk your neighbors heads off Thankfully, I'll be able to renew online next time. read more

At 0900 there were already 92 people checked in ahead of me. I've been trying to get an appointment for a month. Been checking at midnight or during the day and it's always saying no appointments anywhere. That's why I decided to walk in and try my luck. They took my number and said they would page me on when to head back up there. And that would be a 30 minute grace to be called. They did message immediately and sent a reminder and sorry text 45 minutes later giving me the option to cancel the wait or continue. I wasn't aware that licenses for over 69 are only renewed for 5 years at a time. You need all original documents to get a real ID as well as the social security card itself or an official document with the number on it such as tax documents or something from social security itself. You also need two pieces of official mail proving residency. They can be bank statements or any state/federal mail and must be within 60 days. They also require proof of insurance as well as a state or government issued ID or passport. It's a lot of paperwork to put together and a hard thing for seniors to have to go through again every handful of years. I give 5 stars for the texting system. I should minus one because is impossible to schedule an appointment. A women there told me hers was scheduled 3 months in advance and she took the first available date. 3 months out is crazy! read more

This was the best DMV experience of my life across multiple states! Christy at the front desk is so cheerful and genuine that you can't help but smile, despite the length of the line or the fact that you're at the DMV. She jokes and inquires and encourages. She deserves a big fat raise!!! Crystal was also very kind and efficient once I got called to her window. Overall a painless experience! If I could rate zero stars I would, the workers there had a really unpleasant attitude I got yelled at by one on a Saturday told me and my sister to "be patient geez" and said she'd talk to us once she finished with another client and then proceeded to look at us and walked away, and another lady was really racist she told my sister she had to speak English in North Carolina because no other DMV speaked Spanish we ended up good to Greensboro and she didn't have to speak English and got her license, whoever is the boss or manager has to recheck who they hire. read more

went to wait, had to wait since 7:45, it is now 12:10, and they told me that they had called it, when I had came in, literally the second I got there, without announcing it on the TV. Waited an hour and asked and they informed me they just put it back into the system again. read more

first time getting my drivers license, was clueless most of the time and unprepared with incorrect documents, Ms Liz was so sweet and understanding and walked me trough it fully she was patient with me and allowed me to fully prepare didnt complain or make me feel bad at all thank you Ms Liz you are such a great person!!! read more

Rude lady at the check in with an awful attitude was not helpful at all, would NOT recommend!!!!

Very rude lady at the door, made snarky comments and got talked down to a lot. Was told that the personal signature was not good and told to change it. Also overheard the lady at the door make a racist comment towards a POC that came in after. read more

Not bad. I went in on a Wednesday at 2pm with no appointment, was done in an hour. The lady at the front desk was nice and helpful, the lady who helped me with my name change was also extremely friendly. They had a lot of people in the waiting area, but moved relatively quickly. I didn't realize they took appointments, I would have made one ahead of time. read more

Dmv Drivers License - Jesus, be a fence. - Graham, North Carolina

Took my son to get his permit, lady at desk one counter one was super helpful. When we got there at our appointment realized we had a copy of birth certificate instead of original, we were from out of town but told us to come back at 1230 she would get us in. We got back and sure enough she did and was so kind to my son and was very helpful with the whole process. We were in and out within 45 minutes. Much better experience here than my own town DMV. read more

If you need a Real ID, I suggest you get in line on a wednesday morning at 7am, wait outside till it opens at 8am and I was out and done by 8:10am. Other places in Carrboro ha e been having a 4-5 hour wait. Can you believe that! And, make sure you look on line for the approved paperwork or all your time is wasted! read more

i made an appointment and everything went great until they didn't let my grandfather sign my papers since he's not my parent. i can back 2 days later with all my info but i wait over 2 hours just to get no where. i can at 9:30 and left at 12. the lady was always walking away and so rude. people kept complaining about the wait. even though my grandfather was there, they told me that i need a parent. stupid !! read more

Typically when you come to a DMV the attitude from staff are awful and the atmosphere is the last place you want to be. However, this location had a wonderful front desk lady. She was very kind and very professional. She also explained things very thorough to each customer who walked in. Places like this need more people like her!! read more
