A wonderful B&B perched above the lake with large spacious, modern rooms and huge bathrooms-a perfect spot to chill for a couple of days.
We arrived around 3 pm and were greeted by our host Dawn. She and her husband built this gem featuring 5 guest suites about 10 years ago and it has become a thriving business. Located a couple of miles outside of town, it is an oasis of peace and calm. The property sits high above the lake and fronts a golf course so it couldn't be more picturesque. There's even some sheep nearby to complete the New Zealand experience.
We stayed with Dawn for two nights in the peak Summer season (January) with a 1-day excursion to Doubtful sound in the middle so we actually stayed in two different suites. Our first night we were in the Luxmore Suite - the premier room with fantastic view down to the lake and our second (technically third night in New Zealand, another Suite down the hall , also nice but without the killer view.
Dawn makes you feel like family during your stay and provided great suggestions for restaurants and local activities and even arranged reservations for us making things quite easy.
The room also came with a sumptuous breakfast cooked to order from a nice menu that included omelettes, pancakes, eggs Benedict and more.
While the rooms aren't air conditioned, even in the middle of a "hot" summer -around 80, we just opened up the windows and let the cool evening breezes in. The beds, while a touch soft for me, were comfortable and covered in thick soft
