There is a lovely garden for dining alfresco but they were jam packed the first night I visited and the manager said no way would they be able to seat me there. So I said I'd ordered to go. (The inside is a bit small, I'm sure nicely cozy in pre-covid times.) It took forever but I finally got my Schlossi pasta. It was pretty tasty and very hot, and hit the spot. Reservations and arriving: Made via message online or a call; we did so as part of our stay at the Hermitage. When checking in, the front desk was very gracious noticing that we had an upcoming reservation and called ahead letting the restaurant know that we are running a little bit late due to the check-in process. Rooms: We were personally shown to our rooms, and we really appreciated the walk-through. There are lounge areas including the bar area behind the front desk, and some quiet lounge chairs outside overlooking the lake, and inside with a pool table and additional seating. Clear warnings of possible mosquitos so we definitely appreciated the heads up before opening the windows in the evening! Stunning views of Lake Lucerne with generously sized rooms, and effort to be eco-friendly, and kind service. Food: Brunch was buffet style with plenty of seating and lots of variety. Loved the natural or firmer honey choices, bread choices, fruit, chia pudding, yogurt, boiled eggs, sausages, drinks, etc available all with lakeside covered seating options. Took one star off for a dinner experience with the associated restaurant Hermitage. Amenities: Spa area includes changing rooms and sauna rooms, no hot bath area or pool so this is for relaxation and also some private rooms are available. Water sports can be arranged with the front desk. Great stay that was quiet and polite and easily accessible in Lucerne!

The staff are amazing, the rooms are gorgeous, the views are spectacular, the service is top-notch, and the dining is delicious. I got a corner room on the top floor with two balconies and a window that overlooked further up the mountain. I had the delight on seeing some cows out there on my first morning. I utilized the pool everyday, got a massage at the spa on my second day, and ate at the restaurant onsite everyday for breakfast and dinner. I recommend all of it! It can get chilly out on the terrace, even in summer, so they have thick fur coats at your disposal for when you want to sit outside. There is a smoking/cigar room inside and ability to smoke outside on the terrace. The staff will also bring anything to you anywhere onsite if you just call and ask. They have elevated plastic ware available for poolside dining. Overall, highly recommend!!

The rooms were well appointed but I wish they had been a little more cozy and a little less corporate. At breakfast the first morning, my friend and I both ordered the overnight oats. When the dish came we both assumed it was an amuse bouche because the portion size was hilariously small. Like shot glass size. I still giggle when I think about it. It turns out that all the breakfast portions are small because you can order an unlimited amount of dishes and they don't like food waste. While I can certainly appreciate that, it would have been nice if our server had explained that when we placed our order. We were better prepared the next morning. The food overall in Switzerland was just not my favorite. It was good but under seasoned for my taste. My favorite dishes at dinner were probably the carrot coconut soup and the summer salad. The large pool at Villa Honegg is certainly the star of the show. It's heated and open until 11pm and we spent as much time there as we could. The one downside about this hotel is that it is a 20-30 minute drive into down for any activities or reservations at other hotels. It is worth it for the view but know that you need to make plans well in advance for offsite activities.

A short walk across the famous Chapel Bridge. An old wooden bridge lined with art from the 1300's. I should have done a Yelp check in walking across it but forgot. Lol Schiff sits right on the Reuss River which empties into Lake Luzern. A beautiful setting with a stunning view of the Swiss Alps for a backdrop. The service was excellent. I think they can tell if you're a tourist right away and take pride explaining the menu. The Ham & cheese quiche with a nice fresh salad was delicious and delightful. It was lite and so flavorful and the Turkey escalope piccata with spaghetti, zucchini was a tender cutlet and the spaghetti with zucchini was fresh tasty. A delicious meal with a picturesque setting made this a delightful experience.

Absolutely stunning vies and great experience. So happy Viking put us up here for our first time visit to Switzerland.

This hotel was booked through Viking Cruises for the end of our river cruise. It is a beautiful hotel with really good customer service. The morning breakfast was included with our package, and it was very good. Besides the price the other complaint that I had was that the stand-alone shower was smaller than the one on our cruise ship.

We pulled up for a 3 night stay, thinking that we would be at a quiet, country Inn 15 minutes outside Lucern, Switzerland. Imagine my surprise!! I told the owner, that we could not stay there. He insisted on still charging me $113 US for the first night, because he said we had a contract with booking.com. I told him that he had falsely represented his hotel. If we had known what was going on, we would not have booked there. I told him that I was a light sleeper, plus I am on vacation and want to sleep in. That is why I booked a place outside of the big city. He said it is no problem, they start working at 07:30AM. He had to be kidding!! What kind of peaceful morning is that? He really should have closed up for a few weeks until all the demolition was complete. We were in Switzerland for three weeks. I have family all over the country, plus we stayed in over 12 other hotels. This is the only unreasonable person we ran into. Pure greed!! I plan on contesting this charge with MasterCard. I have used booking.com over 100 times, over the past decade and this has been my only fail. I religiously read the reviews before booking. Drag is, that because I did not technically stay there, I am not able to give a review on Booking.com. Booking.com actually called me in response to an email I sent them about this place and advised me to put in my review on YELP and Trip Advisor. I also occasionally write review for the Los Angeles Times newspaper for other travelers. So far, I have only posted positive reviews. But, I plan on posting my opinion about this hotel and it will be far from positive!! I just do not want this to happen to anyone else. In the end, we went in to Lucern and got a nice, quiet room for the same amount of money.
