I recently moved back to Monterey and after months and month of looking for a primary care doctor,…read morewas lucky enough to find Dr. Tajiri. I had a PCP I loved in CO, and wasn't sure if I would find a doctor here who was as good a listener, and as warm as my previous one. I am over the moon happy to have found Dr. Tajiri. She is friendly and caring, listened to concerns and provided all the appropriate referrals. I did not feel rushed, and I left my appointment feeling so good. Absolutely worth the drive to Marina. Thank you Dr. T!

I was hospitalized in November 2022 for a significant issue that needed follow up. I was new to the area and still needed to establish a primary care physician. That same month, I made an appointment with Dr. Tajiri; the earliest available appointment was in late February. Due to doctor shortages in the Monterey bay area, it is simply difficult to get into see a physician for any chronic issues; the nurse practitioners at MoGo made it very clear that they would not see me for my condition and I even had issues getting in with Doctors on Duty for this issue, hence it was exceedingly important to me to be able to see a primary care physician. I made numerous phone calls to numerous different agencies, and with my health insurance, the late February appointment date with Dr. Tajiri was the best I could do, even though I had a more urgent issue. About two weeks before the appointment (which was set for Friday), I received a phone call from Montage stating that Dr. Tajiri wanted to reschedule my appointment because Dr. Tajiri was going to start working from home on Fridays; she would not do telehealth for my type of appointment. I was fine with this, but then was told the earliest I could reschedule would be the month of June. I explained my medical situation to the staff members and to staff supervisors, and requested that they speak to Dr. Tajiri and see if she would make an exception or work to schedule me in at some other time. I was bluntly told no and that the earliest she would see me was June. It did not matter that I had scheduled my appointment in November or that I had waited several months, and it did not matter that I had a significant medical issue where I need a prescription refill that I could not get any other doctor to refill (thankfully I got on the cancellation list of another doctor, and that doctor immediately refilled my prescription - not to be too dramatic, but for me, it is a life-saving medication). How Dr. Tajiri handled cancelling on patients so that she could work from home just came across to me as callous and selfish; working from home is a convenience. I have no problem with it in general, but believe that as a service provider where other people, such as myself, rely upon and count on that service, Dr. Tajiri should have made reasonable accommodation exceptions while she transitioned to working from home on Fridays rather than just outright canceling my appointment without even discussing it with me.

I was taken into an exam room where the nice medical assistant took my vitals. After getting info on my symptoms and a little more about the degree of my pain, she came back and said that the PA on duty, Brian E. was turning me away because he was under the "assumption" that this was a worker's comp case. I assured her that it was not, it had nothing to do with work at all. Since I left work due to the pain, he refused to see me due to his "assumption". She said that he told her that this was becoming a regular problem at their clinic, even though this was the very first time I had ever been there. I have Blue Cross insurance so I could not understand why a patient would be turned away for being in pain. When I asked the medical assistant if I could talk to him, she went to let him know. She came back again and said she was sorry, but he did not want to see me or talk to me. I thanked her for trying but this person should not be employed by Montage. This PA has absolutely no bedside manner or professionalism and represents Montage in a horrible way. Makes me wonder how many patients get turned away...such a shame

Then last December I had been sick for a week. I was super short of breath and my O2 sat after walking to the exam room was 85% and my BP 98/60. The MA brushed it off and retook it after resting and my sat went up to 93% and BP up to 100/60. Again I told the MA this was not my baseline but she ignored me and didn't document the low reading. I was in horrendous pain in my hip and focused in that. They gave me steroids and sent me home. Next day I couldn't breathe and BP was 80/40 with irregular heart rate. I was so weak my husband called 911 and I was admitted to ICU w severe sepsis. I called to complain and got a v/m back from the manager asking me to call her back. I did and 7 months later still no response. Missing how sick I was twice is pretty egregious.
