Today I trusted him to surgically remove the ingrown nails under local anesthesia which was without pain and I am grateful and so happy I finally got this done. He told me it had to be removed immediately or I'd end up in the hospital with a serious health risk, and gave me no other options. The procedure was coded in a way that insurance denied as cosmetic or comfort care, leaving me with a $400 bill that overdrafted my account. When I reached out for notes or a letter of medical necessity to appeal, I was told the physician no longer works there, transferred to billing, and the billing manager refused to help. She said they wouldn't do anything more, it was an insurance problem, and this was the last communication they'd have on the matter. She became aggressive when I simply explained I was upset about the situation. On top of that, they charged my card for the full amount without any prior notice after the denial, which came as a complete shock. The doctor was also negligent in dressing the wound, the gauze stuck to the nail bed, I had to return two days later, and he ripped it off dry, causing extreme pain and re-traumatizing the area. The nail is now not growing back properly. Patients deserve better than being left financially harmed and physically worse off with zero cooperation on fixing a preventable insurance issue. I wouldn't recommend this practice.

He put me under full body anesthesia at Hermann to remove my 2 big toenails and 2 small toenails since then fungus came back, I have suffered daily excruciating physically and emotionally pain. If he referred me to a foot specialist, a Podiatrist then I wouldn't go through hell since I am a Prozac sister. I made a mistake no knowledge and paid for it. My friends told me to see Foot and Ankle Specialist Dr. Fernando Fernandez, his assistant JoAnn is wonderful, he is patient, kind and professional that he takes out my ingrown toenails in his office, one foot at one office visit, Never knock me out put me under. She agrees to do a foot surgery on your toe…read more Imagine the entire staff working on your foot agree you need this surgery because of the way your foot steps Imagine being given steps and procedures required to get approved for surgery including a cardiolgist approval for anesthesiologist and blood lab work from your general practitioner whom also has to sign off on the surgery. Imagine beginning the journey. Gas money. Making the appointments , having to wait 30 days for a stress test going to 3 cardioligist visits to get his approval Imagine returning back & forth to the podiatrist. Giving updates. Keeping them in the loop. Imagine being told your podiatrist is leaving site but the lead podiatrist kutchback will take good care of you. Imagine being told the entire care team that was on board with the surgery are staying and are caring for you. Seeing you every other week with kutchback. Imagine having to take 2 blood tests in a span of 60 days to cover the 30 day window of surgery because the cardiology work up was taking so long so the first was void and so the podiatrist office says go take the blood work AGAIN Imagine setting the appointments. Clearing with the cardiologist , clearing with the family practitioner Imagine being told in a 30 day crunch window...... the podiatrist .... took a week off..... another week delay Imagine being scheduled for pre-surgery with the podiatrist Imagine being told surgery is Tuesday the 21st Imagine scheduling with work time off and keeping them in the loop. Imagine being contacted by Memorial Hermann in preperation of surgery Imagine suddenly , going in for pre-surgery and kutchback says " No. Not going to do it. Refuse to do it. Only seen you 5 or 6 times. If I do surgery on you. I am married to you. " Imagine all this time spent. Imagine if I was out of pocket and had to pay for this financially. I am only out of my own time , preperation , a half of pint of blood , several tests that his office said ....had to be done I got it done. Everything was 200 percent. Naw. Not feeling it. I didn't even know I was scheduled for surgery Tuesday. I am just now looking in your file and I am just now seeing that your x-rays and I am just now deciding 60 days later your toes don't look right , I don't approve doing the surgery Breathesssssss Ok. What is the plan ? Well we are not having surgery No plan. Just time wasted If that is not the biggest Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and dipped out clueless never looking at a patients file making them waste their time.... One star.
