There is nothing more spectacular than a sunrise on the top of Doe Mountain this morning. Come about 45 minutes before sunrise and hike up the mountain. Recommend a good pair of lightweight hiking boots and at least a 2L hydration backpack. $5 day pass for Red Rock parking. Lot fills about 20 cars. It's 7:30am and there are only 5 cars in the lot. Enjoy being up here with the birds above the clouds watching the sun rise!!

Really enjoyed this hike. It's dry and dusty but that's to be expected. Well maintained easy to follow trail. It's basically a bunch of switchbacks to get to the mesa on top. Some areas are narrow and can be thought of as steep. My heights-beware spouse had to turn around pretty quickly and go sit in the car. It's beautiful at the top with astounding views. No railings and there are definitely drop offs if you wander near the edges. The whole trip took me about 1 1/2 hours and included lots of picture taking. There is a Red Rocks parking pass required that is $5. Credit card only.

11/25/22: Great views of the whole shabang up top. Less torursists at this trail. It's 0.7 miles up with switchbacks. Watch your footing in a few spots. Day park pass was $5. The usual 15 car parking lot in Sedona.

If you are ever in Phoenix taking the drive to the Grand Canyon then you have to stop in Sedona. Amazing beautiful scenery. So many hiking trail as well... We did the 6am hike in Doe Mountain to watch the sunrise. AMAZING!!! Just amazing. This is where the hot air balloon ride also occurs. GPS actually takes you to the trail you want. Many different length trails to explore. It only cost $5 to park your car. Well worth it. There are many small dinners ( love small places to eat with a home feeling). The gas is a little pricey. Overall well worth the drive to explore.

My husband and I were only able to do two hikes on our recent Sedona trip, but this was my favorite. I think if we had done even more hiking that this would still be my favorite. It only took us an hour roundtrip and it was a relatively easy hike. This is the perfect hike to get a great view of the area. There is a small parking lot in front of the trailhead. There is a machine to pay for parking. We were lucky because parking was free on the holiday when we visited. At six in the morning there was plenty of parking available. The trail starts relatively flat and then turns into a more narrowed winding path up. This trail would be great for all hiking levels because it wasn't too strenuous. It didn't have many steep inclines or any spots that would scare those with a fear of heights. At the top we found a large flat area with plenty of scenic views. It's amazing how easy it was to climb so high. Since our hike was so early we saw plenty of hot air balloons in the area too.

This trail is a must if you're looking for a quick, moderate hike you can do with kids! Let me tell you the views did not let down! We went an hour before sunset and by the time we made it to the top it was perfect lighting for pictures! We came down here for one night and wanted to do a quick trail with our big family, I'm so glad we found this trail! Everything about it was perfect! Total time 1 hr round trip with taking pics and being patient with kids. You can buy your red rock pass right at the parking lot before you hike up. Totally recommend!

We did this as our first hike in Sedona. We drove past 2 parking lots that were completely full for other hikes in the area. When we got to Doe Mountain there were only 4 cars in the lot. We headed up the trail mid morning and were treated to amazing vistas. It is a winding trail up the side of the mountain with some steep parts along the way. At the top it is a mesa and you can walk across and see the beautiful vistas of the red rocks and valley below. There are trails all over the mesa and you could spend lots of time on flat hikes once you get to the top. The next day we did a balloon flight and it went over the area so it was fun to see where we had been the day before.

Nice hike! 0.6 miles of steep climbing and switchbacks up (trail is maintained/little scrambling needed) then there is a 1.3 mile walk around the Mesa at the top. It's pretty cool because you can walk around the whole top of the mountain and see 360 degree views. Definitely would recommend for a quick hike. The climb up only took us about 15 minutes with no breaks.

The main reason my husband I come up to Sedona is for the hiking. This trip we decided to check out Doe Mountain and ended up hiking the Aerie and Cockscomb trails which essentially circles Doe Mountain in 5-6 miles. The trails were easy-to-moderate in difficulty level and most of the other people we saw on the trails were on mountain bikes, but the trails themselves were not crowded on the Saturday morning we ventured out. The Aerie Trail offers amazing views of the other Mountains and you can even see Jerome in the distance so bring your camera (or phone) as they will be safe on these low difficulty trails!

Great place to eat a light snack and enjoy the view

Moderate difficulty. Technical at times and young kids would make me nervous. 14% grade but when you get to the top- WOW, just WOW

The place to be at sunset!!! Doe Mountain is off the beaten path so it's not too crowded. To get there DO NOT follow Yelp address/map coordinates, follow the sings for the trailhead off the main drive. The trail is vigorous and scenic, after a speedy 20-30 minute hike you will be rewarded with access to Doe Mesa. Spend some time walking around. Take in the 360 degree views. It's as sweet as it gets in Sedona. If hiking down after sunset, a flashlight might be a good idea (as it always is).

Best bang for your buck hike in Sedona. Plenty of switchbacks with a rewarding view that can't be beat.

Curvaceous narrow single track spinning and cruising across the terrain, dropping into and popping out of washes - my Santa Cruz, Tall Boy 29er suspension pop pop pops getting after it. The trail system is well marked and well kept up. We took the Blowout Canyon trail 551 to Bullseye 557 in a clockwise direction. I recommend this direction for the best view of the red rocks and valley to the north while you are hiking. There is interesting geology with red and gray tuff rock in several places and a red rimmed wall along part of the wash canyon. We saw only a couple of other hikers and two sets of mountain bikers on a Thursday in January so this is a great place to get away from crowds and enjoy the views. There was some mud on about 1/4 of the trail which would make for messy mountain biking, and a few places of the trail are narrow with a pretty good drop off into the creek canyon, so this is best for experienced mountain bikers. It is a fairly easy trail for hikers with only moderate climbs. Our hike was about 6.5 miles, but there are many options for longer or shorter walks. There is no shade so this is best enjoyed in the spring, fall or winter. To get here take Mingus Ave south of highway 89A, head about 1.5 miles south of the airport where Mingus Ave turns into FR 493. There are a few bumps and rocks on the Forrest Service road but it is easily passable in any car. The parking lot for the trailhead is on the west side and is quite large.
