Me and my grandson decided to have a lovely date and we chose the stakes as our main and we waited a hour and 15 mins and 45 seconds for it to come when it arrived it was still mooing at me... ps I could've milked it read more

Despite living locally to the Dog & Duck,i would choose to go there for any occasion.I have had a lovely experience every time. The staff are very helpful and will accommodate your need for a quiet corner or large family space, not hesitating to move furniture to your requirements. Not an eyelid was battered when my 18 month-old son stretched out on a sofa for a snooze, having said that he missed the most sumptuous of hand made burgers the size of a plate. My kids were thrilled to bits ,i was happy too as it wasn't fast food rubbish. On every occasion the food has been exceptional!good quality, food worth savouring, the not-your-run- of- the- mill combinations, make it a pleasure to keep going back to try the latest menus. read more

massively expensive pub, always very warm, think they could turn the central heating down abit. Beer garden is ok, inside is a dog's dinner of purple and gold decor, tassles and fancy cloths and statues of buddah! Quite an overpowering place but ok for a pint! read more

Highly individual restaurant and bar - in no way your traditional British pub. Excellent food, but be prepared to wait because it's all cooked to order. The mainly young staff are very friendly and helpful. Tea-time (4:00 - 6:00) menu available during the week @ £5.00. One of a small number of 'high end' restaurants that are establishing themselves in the Mansfield area. Watch out, the postcode is correct but the map on this page is totally misleading and doesn't take you within 5 miles of the place. read more

This is one of my favourite pubs in the world, the staff are just lovely and can't do enough to help you (especially if you have kids with you) and the food is terrific, plus the decor is such that you feel like you're in a really elegant environment rather than just nipping out for a pub lunch. The menu is varied with classics such as scampi and chips mixed in with unusual pies and really good burgers and the food comes out quickly (despite signs being up saying that during busy times there might be a long wait I've always experienced the contrary!). I love it, a great well managed pub. read more

Although the decor may not be to everyones liking The Dog and Duck in my opinion is really worth a visit. Car parking is no problem as they provide a large car park, check in is dealt with quickly. The evening menu has a good range with prices for mains averaging around £16. Service is reasonably quick even when busy. The food quality is very high and the presentation is very good. But as always drink prices are quite high. If you visit during lunch or early evening then there are good value menus to choose from that give really good value for money. After six visits I have not had one problem with any aspect. Worth a try. read more

Took my husband for his 70th birthday. He ordered his steak well done and it came RARE! He sent it back and the staff said they would keep mine warm while his was being cooked some more. Mine came back COLD and the three different veg I should have had with it turned out to be three pieces of asparagus. Very disappointing and well over priced! read more

The new years eve party was brilliant, from the turns to the buffet it was worth every penny. The singer Campbell Bass (I think thats his name), was brilliant, even better than the Benidorm Guy who was great. There was plenty of lovely food and the staff could not do enough for you. The disco at one end of the pub was hard core and the other was 70's, 80's which was really good for the mixed ages. The only critiscm I would say is that we could not find a seat at the begining of the night. More seats would have been better. Well done Dog & Duck worth every penny read more

Sad to say that after many visits and celebrations held at your restaurant I had the worst ever experience on Sunday afternoon 14/1/15. The meal was supposed to be a thank you to my daughter and son-in-law for the kindness and care for us over Christmas. They chose your restaurant as it has been a local favourite for many years, where we celebrated our daughters graduation among many others. Yesterday however was a huge disappointment. The service and customer care was almost non existent. We felt almost invisible despite it not being particularly busy. My husband ordered a drink which failed to arrive. We had to ask the waitress when we could expect our meal as we had waited over an hour from when our order was taken. When it finally arrived the chicken pie which three of us ordered was burnt. Overall the experience was a disaster. We didn't complain at the time because we chose not to make a fuss but I think you should know your staff are waving goodbye to valued local custom who will not visit or recommend you again. read more

WOW! is the word that springs to mind for me and my family, when we visited the dog and duck for the first time last friday evening. We were just driving past and decided to go in. We were not expecting the interior that confronted us - it was so lavish and unusual. We were greeted by very friendly smiling staff, shown to our table and given a menu. It was difficult to choose, it all sounded so nice. My husband had the fillet steak and i had the sea bass with tiger prawns dish, the kids all had Texas burgers (think that was what they were called!). the food came quite promptly and was exceptional, the desserts were also great!. To sum up we had a lovely, unexpected time, with lovely food and surroundings - cant fault it - will definitely go back read more

Went to celebrate my daughters birthday on a Friday evening. 7 of us in the group. Sat in the bar area, table was that close to others that staff couldln't get through to collect plates so had to keep passing them to them or taking them from them. Asked by 4 different staff 6 times if we were ready to order within 10 minutes of being seated. Food was poor quality and over priced. Normally go into Nottingham for meals out but had heard this was good. Many, many better quality restaurants in Nottingham so in future will go there. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE!! read more

We have been to this pub nearly every week for the last three years, we have always experienced lovely food, and the staff have always been welcoming. the interior is fantastic and there is always something different to look at as they keep updating and changing the decor. when i see a bad comment about the dog and duck on these web sights i say to my wife - they can't be talking about the same place - all our friends love it too - you must try if you hav'nt been before read more

Whilst the food is of a good quality and the decor very pleasant my wife and i were very disappointed with the service we received yesterday lunchtime. we had to wait nearly an hour between our starter and main course as did another couple who walked out because they had to pick children up from school. All we got was an apology, surly if it is busy why nit delay the starter and inform customers of the long wait. Sorry but we won't be going back in a hurry! read more

We visited this pub for the first time last Wednesday evening and absolutely loved it. Such a beautiful place, with a great atmosphere, fantastic decor and staff that couldnt be faulted. The food was exceptional, i asked for something that wasnt on the evening menu and was accomodated. I would highly recommend the Dog and Duck to anyone and even though it is over an hours drive away from where we live, we are looking forwards to visiting the pub again soon. read more

Really great choice for a relaxed night out or special occassion. Have been several times most recently for my birthday. Food is always delicious and cooked to order. Loads of choice on the menu. Staff are super nice, really friendly and accomodating. Ask to sit in the Barn or take a drink into the Courtyard with your dog in summer! read more
