Found my 10oz steak was very good, cooked excellently as medium even though i had asked for rare. My friend enjoyed his mixed grill but did say the steak, cooked medium rare, was a bit tough. Another of our party of six had "The Real Corker", which was certainly a generous meal and you need to be hungry. Everyone else enjoyed their various meals and desserts. Decor has had a bit of an upgrade and is ok. but the mens toilets needs attention as it is smelly and floor wet (say no more). Appreciate the pub is very busy and it would take effort to keep Gents properly, however, could well put people off which is a shame. They run a grand pub, full of fun with great local music acts every Friday and most Saturdays. My husband originally strolled into this pub thinking we'd have a laugh at the local cheesy entertainment. However, the songstress, who used to perform at Disney World and with their cruise ships, knocked our socks off singing a bunch of jazz and classics, along with covering the sugar out of Amy Winehouse and The Noisettes. Well impressed like, we was. This pub used to be well known as a drug haven (and not just cannabis), and was known for having the police in nearly every weekend for fights and the like. They had topless bar maids and it was a real dive. In 2005, the current landlords came in and really cleaned the place up. They redecorated, got a bunch of very large local boys in to keep the fighters away, and added a new food menu. Slowly but surely, the place turned around to become a real community pub. It's great for families, and often have carnivals in the summer and hold community events. On the weekends, it's great for adults, as the local bands and singers they get in are absolutely fabulous (especially Partners in Crime, a favourite). The beer is cheap, and they have all the cocktail spirits a girl could want. The best part is the crowd, though. The regulars vary in age from 20-50, and it's definitely not just an old man's pub. It's a favourite of local 20-somethings to frequent before they go out to a club in Brum, and for the less adventurous of us, they often stay open til 2am, at which point we teeter home on 4" heels that seemed like such a good idea at the beginning of the evening. Everyone in the pub is friendly, always good for a laugh, and happy to chat. No fights, no drama, just good clean fun and great music, karaoke and sport during the week. The landlady makes an excellent Sunday Roast, and the wine menu has recently been revamped to add some excellent choices rarely seen in Tamworth!

It seems to be resting on its past glories a bit, as demonstrated by the many posters for old Blur, Oasis, Coldplay, etc. shows there, all before they was famous, like. But maybe it's because I don't slavishly follow NME buzz bands anymore - there are still plenty of quality acts, and ticket prices are still quite low. One thing's for sure - the Charlotte is the beating heart of Leicester, and to see it ever close would be an absolute crying shame. So do go!

Many great bands have played here over the years, often before they became huge (e.g. Muse for £2!!, Blur, Oasis, PJ Harvey, etc). It's a great place to see your favourite band perform as the venue is so small and you can end up really close to your idols!

The beer garden is pretty good and it is a great place to be to have a pint especially when the sun it out. The inside of the pub is very spacious. During the midday the pub is usually quiet but come the evenings it is jam packed mainly on Fridays and Saturdays. There are plenty of screens in the pub that will show live sports. The Tennis Courts certainly offer a range of food ranging from chicken, steak, king size combos, burgers as well as Pub Favourites. The one thing I have tried at the pub is Lemon and Pepper Chicken. One word to sum it up - Beautiful. The chicken was succulent, the lemon and pepper was served with seasoned chips, peas and a half grilled tomato. A top class dish and I would go back to The Tennis Courts pub just for that.

One thing I would say is that they charge for parking with a token bought at the bar, which you will get a £1 refund for if you buy food. This seems like a local pub for local people to me, one that includes a hall of shame photograph wall that makes me sad we can't upload pictures with people in it. Might be worth a quick drink just for looking at this.
