Doghouse Music is a proper music shop and is able to serve all your musical needs. It had long been an ambition of mine to learn guitar and I descended upon Dog House in search of something to get me started. There were a number of packages on offer for a beginner such as myself. Guitar, case and tutorial DVD combo packages are available at very reasonable and affordable prices. If you're an experienced player then there are plenty of goods and deals to suite your needs too. Guitars are not the sole focus of the shop. Other instruments are available to either take away or order in, as is sheet music. The gentleman who runs the shop is clearly passionate about music and customer service. He knows music and he knows his stock and was able to give me good guidance on a guitar package which met my needs. Dog House is located at the bottom of the Broadway, out of the way of the main shopping centre which means the area is not as congested. Parking is available in side streets which are on pay meters but don't risk by not paying as the main traffic office is up the road meaning parking wardens are up and down the road regularly dishing out tickets. read more

My 13 year old son has been learning the guitar and doing really well so wants a decent guitar for his birthday in June. I took him to this shop so he could try out some different guitars and get an idea of what was available but the guy in the shop was totally disinterested. His attitude was "Come back in June, it is pointless trying any guitar unless you are ready to buy it." I explained my son just wanted to see how different guitars felt and played so he could get an idea of what he wanted but still the guy would not let him try any. I know all guitars are different and stock can change but if there had been a guitar there today my son really liked I would have bought it now or put down a deposit. The "couldn't care less" attitude of the guy today has lost him a sale and assured that I will never go back there. He was explaining to a previous customer how he had tried selling drums but nobody was interested. Well I am not surprised if that is how he treats customers. A wasted journey, wasted parking meter money and a disappointed 13 year old sums up my visit to this shop. read more

I have used Doghouse Music for years, and me and my mates always go there for strings, cables and other bits and pieces. It wasn't until recently I bought a guitar from there though, but have to say that I was very impressed with the owner and the amount of advice he offered. He gave me plenty of time to try out two or three of the electrics I was looking at, and didn't force me into buying anything. He even suggested that I might want to think about it for a while - so I was pleased that there was no pressure on me at all. I now know I made the right choice to go there, because the guitar and amp I have got now rocks and makes me sound better than I actually am! I've previously bought things off the web, but that's always been more hassle then it's worth! My advice is to save yourself the effort and check out what's on your doorstep before you buy from a warehouse at the other end of the country. Full marks! read more

A friend of mine took her sons guitar here for repair. It clearly says on their webpage that they repair brass and woodwind guitars. She couldn't believe her ear when she was told "how dare you come here to have a guitar repaired that wasn't bought from us". Stay away from this crappy place, they obviously don't want your business! read more

I went into a Doghouse Music in Bexleyheath today for some Tree Sap for sons violin. We have never had a violin before, so knew very little about it. I'm assuming that I was served by the owner. I found him very rude and on leaving the shop he decided to point out to another customer how people need to visit him first as they don't know what they are doing. He also said this is why local businesses are shutting down. Obviously he was upset that I hadn't bought the violin from him. I would never visit this shop again. If you do then be prepared to be spoken down to. read more

I would avoid this shop at all costs. Products are well overpriced and the owner is the rudest instrument dealer I have ever met. He's highly patronising and treated me like I wasn't worth his time. My music teachers and all my friends who have met him agree that he's an awful person to deal with and the shop is dreadful. I've also heard certain rumours, which I believe to be true, which actually makes this person someone you seriously do not want to buy from or go anywhere near. The second you speak to him or walk into his shop, you are at risk of being ripped-off. read more
