The DOGhouse Thrift Shop is clean, organized, and has friendly staff--always a good combo. Clothing selection was a bit on the bland side during our visit, but they make up for it with a solid variety elsewhere: lots of books, CDs, some DVDs, and plenty of kitchen items. There's also an extended yard area with more to browse. Prices are cheap and fair. There's a small amount of parking in front, but a bigger lot next door makes it easy enough. The employee/volunteer(?) there the afternoon of 10/4/17 3:15 PM, male 20s, shaggy brown hair and a pinched facial expression, is a jerk. I was shopping with my nine-year-old kid, who suddenly needed to use the restroom. I was carrying a heavy piece of furniture, and my child asked if they had a restroom. He was told no and then the guy proceeded to ignore me and went back to putting tags on merchandise as I stood there holding the furniture. A minute later he looked up and made eye contact with me and said "can I help you?" Seriously? I'm standing there in front of the cash register, holding a piece of furniture and he wants to know if I need help? He then proceeded to ring me up and slooowly as I think is humanly possible, all while knowing that my kid needed to use the restroom. What a piece of work. read more

If you are not willing to allow a 6 year old to use your bathroom than you don't deserve business. I can understand not allowing an adult, maybe.. but a child. It makes absolutely no sense to not provide restrooms for customers. We came here visiting from out of town. We do enjoy visiting and purchasing unique items from different thrift stores, depending on where we are traveling. As soon as they said my daughter could not use their bathroom, we put down the items we were going to purchase and left. Most items were over priced, close to retail. I figure that comes with a thrift store in a small town. But absolutely unacceptable to not allow a child access to the restroom. read more

This use to be a great place to shop and donate 2nd hand items. The "management" to use the term loosely, has over priced almost everything, and complains when a price tag isn't on an item. I went in and a tag was missing from something and she said that was the 3rd time she had to re-price it. Take a hint... someone thought it was over-priced. I used to like going in there all the time..... for now I will just skip it, I know I am not the only one. There is more than one way to raise money for the animal shelter, not just high prices, but moving merchandise. read more

My friend and I were very impressed with this thrift last year when I was in town. This year, I came on a day where clothing was full price. I didn't buy anything.....but will return last year. The clerk did not know when future sales were going to be held.......This thrift is HUGE so be prepared to spend time there in their various rooms including housewares, books/toys and clothing/accessories. read more

My least favorite thrift store! Which is sad, because it's a great space. Full of treasures, well organized and big. It's also WAY over priced. Things are priced at darn near what you can buy them new in many cases. We skip it altogether on our thrift shop days, most times. read more

This used to be THE best thrift store on the mountain a year or two ago, but their new higher prices make it NOT the place to go like it used to be. They have good quality merchandise but are priced 25-35%, or more, above other similar stores....And their used appliances are some of the highest priced on the mountain...Not sure how they expect to get return customers this way? Maybe they need to seriously consider a weekly 25-50% off coupon on their website or in the local newspaper if they want to increase their customer base... read more

I didn't find anything that caught my eye for the price, just a little too pricy for thrifted clothes in my opinion... BUT the staff was super friendly and although the store was packed full of racks, it was pretty organized! Lots of decor and fun trinkets but I was looking for clothes :) read more

We took a trailer load of items we cleaned out from a storage unit to donate, and they would not take them! The manager was extremely rude, stating they got so many donations they could be pick and choose what they wanted. The manager and her staff started to pick through our items referring to some items as "crap". We took our items and cash donation elsewhere, where they were grateful for both our quality goods and cash donation. We have been donating here for years, and the previous manager and staff never was so rude. I plan on contacting the charities board of directors to let them know how their new manager and staff are alienating the community they are dependent upon for both hard goods donations and cash to continue with their mission. read more

I tried to drop off carload of clothes and household items at a resale shop in showlow but I was 3 min. Late so I went to my second choice. .the dog house. I pulled up and ..no greetings. .just ..we dont take craft items. Then the redheaded kid wouldn't even take bags out of car even though we were out of car planning to help. We had to hand him bags . Afterwards he offered asked for name wtc..for donations slip..he handed me the form to fill out..in doing so, I asked him how many bags? He was unable to turn around and count..he said ..vwry snotty. .i dont know. Another place i won't be donating. Take your better items somewhere they appreciate it. read more
