A very unique experience that everyone should try. The dogs were extremely happy and were howling to be picked for the hook up to sled for the run. Cant recommend this experience enough, the dogs were SO happy they all were smiling in the yard and once they got onto the trails they were so thrilled to be pulling and you could really tell they were in their element. Dog Sled Adventures is pretty awesome. The staff are friendly, you can pet and play with the dogs, and the ride is a trip! You speed along at 20-30 mph through state forest up and down hills and through tight turns. Tip: 1) DRESS WARM. Wear ski goggles (lots of snow and ice flying back) and gloves. Also if you can afford it, go as few to a sled as possible. 2) Go Light. My daughter and I (148lbs and 60lbs) took one sled and we were noticeably faster than the other sleds with 2 adults. Why not 5 stars? This next part applies to those coming to Whitefish by train or some other mode that leaves them without a car. This place is 30 miles away from Whitefish resort. I called a cab company the morning of our reservation (6 hours in advance) and I learned two things. 1) they were booked all day. 2) they'd put me on a waiting list and the total ride (round trip) would be $90! I called Jeff (the owner) and told him I could not get a ride and asked if I could come another day during my vacation. He said there was shuttle service on Tuesday, but I needed to bring a group of six people! Fortunately he had a group of 4 also wanting a ride and paired us up for FREE shuttle service. It's a pain to get to this place so be clear with Jeff up front and tell him that you want a free shuttle. He'll find a way to get you out there is you insist. read more

We had a blast! We came with 3 families and all the adults and kids had a great time. They have 125 dogs and just walking around all their dog houses is a hoot. Our 2 year old daughter loved the experience. They do a great job of bundling you up to keep you warm and dry. Hot chocolate and cookies are given afterwards. read more

This was easily one of the most authentic and interesting things I have ever experienced. Jeff and his team were extremely knowledgeable and professional. Jeff is a true Mountain-Man with 38 years of dog sledding, breeding, and rescuing experience! Jeff toured us through the 12 mile figure eight loops with a 10 dog team. We were in the back with Boots and Smokey pulling as our anchors, and our lead dogs were the brothers from the same litter- Zepp and Ringo. It was truly amazing to see Jeff and the dogs communicate with one another and pull us through the gorgeous countryside of rural Montana. The 12 mile tour went by in a flash and before we knew it, we were back at base camp with the welcoming 120 plus dogs. Afterwards, Jeff made us hot chocolate and homemade oatmeal raisin cookies inside the warm cabin. What a tremendous experience. Thanks again Jeff, we will be back soon!!! read more

I called to make reservations and as I was on the phone talking to the owner I assume, he picks up another call and starts talking to someone else while I was still talking to him! I heard him say, "hello." So I assumed we had lost connection. I replied with hello back and he snapped at me telling me he was talking to someone else! Took my 95 yr. old Mom to Dog Sled Adventures and had an incredible time! As Mom described it, "it was like a fantasy land sledding through the beautiful snow covered forest, best time of my life". And believe me, Mom has done many adventures from skydiving to parasailing to zip lining to race car driving and more. The dogs were incredibly friendly and eager to pull! Jeff was hilarious and kept us entertained the entire ride. There was nothing we didn't love! The price was quite reasonable and it was obvious how much Jeff loves and respects his dogs. This was such an amazing experience! A must-do while in Montana. The beautiful dogs are super happy to run, and makes me happy they are rescue dogs as well; they have a greater life here. The idea already seemed fun, but in person it was even more fun. We got a tiny tour from Jeff of the enclosure and the names of his animals, the staff was very pleasant and respectful, even more so to offer to take pictures for my fiance and I while we frolicked with the dogs.
